Ethereum's price surge continued into today as the digital currency topped $700 to reach a high of $750 according to coinmarketcap.com. This brought Ethereum’s market capitalization to an astonishing $72.5 bln. However, as Bitcoin mounted a comeback, returning to near-record highs, Ethereum slipped. At press time, Ethereum was trading for $640.
Transaction throughput

The network's transaction speed and fee normalisation seem to have influenced the prince increase. Co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on Twitter Wednesday that the Ethereum network surpassed 10 transactions per second for an entire day on Tuesday.

I'm really far from impressed when it comes to Ethereum. The sole reason why Ethereum is valued at 'a new all time high' is thanks to bitcoin. As a matter of fact Ethereum (atleast the ETH/BTC pair has been in a bear market for the last 6 months. If ethereum kept it's bitcoin value of 0.15 in June of this year (the actual all time high, it's  worth 0.038 btc now) ethereum would have a value of nearly 2700$.

Eth will be a bitcoin in furture

Although 2017 is touted as Bitcoin's year, the gains which Ethereum has made are far more impressive. It still has potential to go higher and even Mike Novogratz believes so. Of course, there will be corrections when Bitcoin surges as people shift money from Ethereum to Bitcoin.

Ethereum already reaches its all-time-high mid year this year but then experienced a sudden downtrend. However, not to be outdone by big brother bitcoin, Ethereum suddenly surges again before the end of the year because of several reasons. I think after the end of November meeting, a lot of companies has suddenly renewed their interest on this coins. And I think companies are really interested on Ethereum main weapon, smart contracts.

There's also a rumored ETH future contracts as well. So the future looks very bright for ETH. We may see one day the price surpassing 4 digits as well.

I am pleased that ethereum is finally actively growing in price. Until recently, he traded at about $ 300 and still could not leave this mark, and now more than doubled. I hope that the increase in the transaction speed of ethereum to 10 transactions per second will also allow it to reach its historical heights, because it has been too underestimated for a long time, performing important functions among all the crypto-currencies.

Altcoin fans are generally very happy about their recent gains and think that soon the time will come when they will flip "outdated" Bitcoin, but simply switching to ALT/BTC charts on coinmarketcap shows that most altcoins are performing negatively in long term. This means that they are pretty bad at being store of value, because you can just hodl Bitcoin instead and it would very likely to return more profits, be less volatile than alts, not have any critical bugs and not suffer from huge attacks. It's also the most decentralized coin, because alts have less nodes, less developers and some of them are not even cryptocurrencies (looking at you, IOTA).

Ethereum has its many weaknesses just like any other coin including that of Bitcoin but I believe that this too has a good future. I believe that Ethereum is also evolving right now and will continue to do especially in response to what the marketplace can be demanding. It is the top choice for many new project because of its relatively easy to use infrastructure and this can be going on for many years down the road. Plus there is no question in the leadership of that thin man with good sense of fashion over there (haha joking) so I am banking on this second on the line cryptocurrency. I rather see the glass half full than the other way around without closing my eyes.

Any coins in the market that really has usability or being used for the medium of exchange such as ethereum smart contract, will always gain more value over time following bitcoin increases. Especially after ethereum nodes upgraded for faster transaction and normal fees.
But, there will always correction after bulls run and ethereum will set a new level to hold on.
Bitcoin seems to gain more value which may affect altcoins prices, but ethereum still on the green side though.

It was quite shocking till the lats 2 months where the trade price was not moving much and was more or less stabilized it. So I thought btc was a better option as it was growing a bit atleast in terms of value. But now with this sudden rise of btc the other altcoins have also started to surge proving that even this altcoins in coming time will multiply in prices.
