Title: PSU setup for 6+ gpu rig Post by: DougieC on December 15, 2017, 09:57:52 PM Looking for advice on psu setup.
Currently have 9 1070ti which use 2x8pin. Originally was going to use an asrock h110. Got a 2kw superflower psu in the daily which i had intended to use in the following config: Psu has x9 8 pin plus cpu 8 pin. (Similar to evga 1600w) 6+2/6 to each gpu. Each /6 with the dual 6 to 8 pin included with the gpu. All risers powered with sata. Risers are 6 pin with sata adapter. Have been advised powering the risers with the included 6 pin to sata connectors is a big no no Struggling to decide on best setup for powering the rig. Splitting into two 6/6 rigs also an option. Gpus are zotac amp. If the inteded setup is not advised, what's the most cost efficient setup.... Title: Re: PSU setup for 6+ gpu rig Post by: philipma1957 on December 15, 2017, 10:50:39 PM Two. Amp, not amp extreme. well the psu is a mismatch to those cards. return the psu or return the cards hint return the cards 2x 8pin = waste of money many 1070 ti's use 1 x 8 pin. the entire idea of 1070 or 1070 ti is one 8 pin jack. as you now see. no one should be mining large rigs of 9 cards with 2 jack eight pin 1070 ti's can you return the cards? can you get these https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5670-KR Title: Re: PSU setup for 6+ gpu rig Post by: DougieC on December 15, 2017, 10:52:19 PM Yeah, no issue. Did consider the stock zotac but its a blower which I assumed wouldn't be the best for cooling and noise.
What's the rule of thumb for powering the Risers? Is sata a no go? Might just split the lot into two 6 gpu rigs... Ditch asrock h110 for x2 ga-z270p-d3 Evga 1600w on each. Vga 1-6 with 6+2/6 to each gpu using included gpu 6 to 8 pin adaptors. Vga 7-9 powering x6 risers using 8pin to dual 6 pin adapters. Did consider the stock zotac but its a blower which I assumed wouldn't be the best for cooling and noise. yeah 2x jack 8 pin are not good for your setup. most of us don't max the cards and the cards only go to 180 watts maxed even these are nice https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1070-TI-AERO/dp/B076QDSVB4/ref=sr_1_3? set to 75% tdp and fans at 75% they will do close to 500 sols at zec with 180 core 660 memory 75% tdp and 75% fan. if you use risers give them a little extra room say a 4 inch gap once installed best way is use 1 pcie cable into the card and into the riser with an extension like this https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-6-Pin-Extension/dp/B01DV1Z4EQ/ref=sr_1_8_sspa? the dual cable powers the card and the riser. and 1070 ti will be using around 125 watts for the one cable total. that is why a single eight pin 1070 ti card is better. Decided to keep the cards. Added 4 to the daily rig and all 4 ticking over nicely on those oc settings. Quiet as a mouse. Rig wise I've ordered a pair of p2 1200w and emailed evga for additional 6+2/6 cables. Issues solved. The I'd for the help/advice. |
