There is no way for that. When you select an option to send on bitcoin address,  they will broadcast your transaction on blockchain. Current network fees is $17 equivalent of BTC so you have to pay it. What you seeing $17 is not actually Dollar fees but BTC fees converted in dollar variant necessary for sending bitcoins

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid transaction fees or choose a lower fees in coinbase. Seems like coinbase fees is too high, try to use another exchanger next time.

There is no way to avoid fees, every transaction that is being made pays fee for it to be able to mine properly. Transaction fees can be determine the speed of your transaction, the higher the transaction fee you pay the faster it'll mine, unfortunately that is the rules of blockchain technology and no one can bend that rules.

I feel like I am losing money on fees than investing, coinbase is a joke.

you can alternatively buy Ether on Coinbase , or Litecoin and send that wherever you want for a much cheaper fee.  Especially to an exchange, ether is cheapest, and then buy whatever you want.

Litecoin fees were 30c a few weeks ago, now 3$  ???   ETH is still around 30c (dunno how much longer).

Wow when are people going to understand that there are no ways to "avoid fees"? It is impossible.

In the only wallet that you can send without fees (or without paying $17 - $19) Is just using localbitcoins or poloniex, but they are not safe enough.

And you pay less than $1 per transaction because it is a transaction with multiple outputs, it means that a lot of people are paying just for a single transaction.

Just pay those $17, are they going to change your life? i guess that they do not.
