Title: 6 min post limitation
Post by: Athanasios Motok on July 23, 2013, 12:32:43 AM
When will six minute post time be gone?
It is very anoyying!

Is this between posts or to make a new account?  I'd assume if there's a 6 minute post limitation for new accounts, it's to counter spam.

I agree, it can get annoying at times. Does this limit apply to everyone or just lower ranks?

I think it is just lower ranks, it probably gets reduced as your rank increases

I just became a normal member and it seems like I am not limited anymore. It seems to be up to Jr.
Member then.

I can confirm that this restriction goes away eventually! :)

What?

You post once every few days. How can the 6 minute limit be annoying?

6 posts doesn't take too long to get to.

I know it really is annoying. the most annoying part is that logging in counts as a post. I just joined but I would have posted a lot more if there was no 6 min rule.

Also, searching also counts as a post.

Let me repeat, it lasts up to Member status as I said above. I do believe the limit should be done differently though. I usually read the forums in bulk and try to answer them pretty fast in a small amount of time. Perhaps a limit per hour would be better?

it does get annoying but we have to deal with it for the beginning.

Come on 300 seconds will be over in the blink of the eye, why so worry and so much in a rush?

Come on 300 seconds will be over in the blink of the eye, why so worry and so much in a rush?

Seems to me to be more about control issues than anything else
eww look how long I can force people to wait.. oh Im in control
Oh look at me - controlling the masses
just another part of the police state

people run at different speeds - get use to it and adapt to their ways
instead of trying to restrict everyone to your ways
everyone has as much right to life as everyone else
without restrictions

look currently with 14 posts I got hit again by the 360 second rule again!!

--

I initially came to this forum to get help on a few issues happening out on the web

but your stupid forum rules quickly led me away from those issues and
detoured me from the life I was living

Hate to see whats happening to the peeps with adhd or add

this is what your rules do to peoples lives - its a massive distraction!!!!

and so I guess I will just keep popping up these added comments until
my 360  second time frame expires and I can post another comment to the forum...

I guess the solution is to make slower, constructive posts until you rank is high enough and then the limit will be removed and it is presumed you have more knowledge by then. Then I suppose you can make faster posts.

its still nearly 1m after 1,000 posts as its the amount of time you have been a member aswell

Thank you to everyone who have me information, I am a member and now there is a one minute limit, so I can make more posts.  Once again, thank you all.

Udet4food,

I'm not sure this is the first time I tried post using my phone, but oddly enough Im noy able to find this post on my cpu.
Starting a new post is the problem, no matter how long I wait. Could it be a cookie issue?

It is actually much more than just 6 minutes. I posted my first message over 60 minutes ago and have been getting 360 seconds between posts error! So it more likely 3600 seconds.

anytime I get a message like that I just wait for however long it says and usually the problem goes away.  Not sure if this is based on account activity or status.  Just posting how it works when this happens on my end.

It is based entirely on account activity.  The higher the activity, the lower seconds you need to wait in between each post.
I have 182 activity; a few seconds is all I need to wait between each post.  Be patient guys, and soon you'll be able to post your ideas and opinions at the pace you want to.

Good to hear it!
I'm a newbie and I want to take part in some specific threads relating to my mining pool but have to wait... guess I can always join them on IRC!

Grr I just tried to post that and got told I've got a 360 second wait...

hmm maybe that was my issue. Seems odd though. After waiting for more than 360 seconds, when I try to actually submit a reply, then I'll get a message saying that reply was already logged from my iP or that it's a dupe reply. Meanwhile my reply won't even have shown up yet.

Whilst I agree it's not a huge annoyance does it really have much impact on spam? Never having spammed a forum with links ect myself I can only speculate, surely if you were spamming it'd be using some automatic software in which case it'd just be a case of altering the time between actions to ge around this?

After posting this I now have to wait one and a half minutes to search for something else.... And 360 seconds to make this post. I can see why people find this limit annoying. Would captcha or something else not be a better alternative? I can see how the time limit has an impact on the users experience on here. I'm going to go back to google instead of searching this site directly.

The 360 second rule counts down on spams greatly, I dont want to think about what these forums would be like if you could post nonstop as much as you want.

Also, there is a 90 second search limitation too.  If you want to get around this, Google the same thing you were to search on here.  It will pull up results that are threads in this forum.

They changed the membergroups a few weeks ago. The time limits go down the more activity you get.

More precisely, the time limits are set with the following formula.

What are the time limits on posting and the levels??
I know 360 seconds are for new people like me, but was wondering if there was break down somewhere on this.

Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

It gets better once you're a junior member.

The time limit is based on your activity level, rather than membergroup.
Once you reach 15 activity, the time limit would be already down to 75 seconds.
For details, you may refer to my above post.
