If you are using your computer only for mining , using trusted mining software ,  then you really dont need antivirus !

I have antivirus installed because of threats from the Internet. In some of the new coin wallets there was a virus and that's why I have antivirus.
You have a choice of antivirus for free as listed here https://www.thebalance.com/best-free-antivirus-1356634
You can also see this link https://www.howtogeek.com/225385/what's-the-best-antivirus-for-windows-10-is-windows-defender-good-enough/

Windows 10 has own windows defender, but still better using antivirus from professionals if you store on your computer confidential data

Same here. I just use Windows Defender.

Anyway my rigs are only purely for mining, so nothing much to compromise unless my rig becomes a zombie. In which case I would know anyway since the mining performance should suffer as a result.

I'm most inclined to antivirus doctor Web. I especially like their online free program to check your computer. Once a week I run it. But if you just mining on the computer, then maybe you do not need to install an antivirus.

I dont use any antivirus for the mining rig because I think the antivirus software may stop the miner.
In window 10, when I tested dstm's equihash miner, window defender stopped it after few hours of running.
Btw, the wallet I installed in computer which I installed Kaspersky.

Anyone who goes onto the Internet without some antivirus protection is asking for trouble. Even when you limit your web surfing to known and trusted websites, the possibility remains that you could pick up a virus or some other type of malware.

The choice of an antivirus software package to safeguard your system is a critical one. It is not a matter to be taken lightly. Those who take adequate antivirus protection for granted often regret their oversight later on.

read the https://www.cimananotech.com/bitdefender-vs-kaspersky (https://www.cimananotech.com/bitdefender-vs-kaspersky) detailed comparison and findout the best anti virus.

The only thing I use on my PC that I use for mining is MalwareBytes which is really good if you want to safeguard your computer from malware-ridden wallets but for my trading setup, I use both BitDefender antivirus and Malwarebytes.
