Title: Avalon Clones ((Official Thread))
Post by: AvalonClones on July 23, 2013, 11:15:51 PM
[We posted this earlier in the "Newbie" section, but thought it would be a better fit over here]

Today we are opening our doors for pre-orders of clones of Avalon Batch 1, expecting to deliver our first rigs in 12 weeks.

We offer three models, the 20, 40, and 60.  They each offer a corresponding number of GH/s.  The 60 is an exact clone of Avalon Batch 1.  The 20 and 40 are with one and two internal mining units respectively (the 60 has three)

We have completed design and analysis and are expecting functional prototype boards the second week of august.

In order to reduce delivery times to our customers we have not purchased any chips directly from Avalon. Instead we have secured contracts with 3rd parties that ordered very early on when Avalon started the chip purchase program. We will continue to source chips this way by adding additional 3rd parties as needed until the supply from Avalon stabilizes. Then we will begin to source directly from Avalon.

We are actively seeking additional 3rd parties to source chips from. If you have an early order for Avalon chips and would like to resell them please PM us directly

Our delivery timeframe at this point is entirely dependent on when we receive chips.  At the outside, our first units should ship in 12 weeks.

Additionally, we are in development of our own 110nm chips and have also initiated a project to develop a 28nm ASIC.  We will be launching a generous trade-in program available in the future as we release new products, which we anticipate will happen in 12-18 months.

IMO your price is way too high. Would you consider selling individual modules to upgrade batch 1/2 units with?

Agreed.. Your an order of magnitude too high.  I'm not sure you'll sell a single unit at those prices for a 12 week preorder.  Of course, people on this board have surprised me before.  At any rate, your several times the price of immediately available asicminer equipment which is about to come down in price again and is available 12 weeks sooner; *boggles*.  I hope your margins are huge because you'll have to trim them bigtime to sell a single unit.

You are asking the equivalent of 208 bitcoins for vaporware?  Head over to the goods forum for a reality check.  I have Avalons in hand I couldn't sell for 150.  Come off your high horse and stop trying to rip everyone off.

Let's be honest, even if this is a legitimate offer, it sucks...

$19,000 for a 3 module Avalon.  LOL. At 60Ghash/s that comes out to $310/Gh/s.

Compared to $17.5/Gh/s for a KnC.

And it's for a pre-order that will ship a month before KnC. Users will maybe make $1-$2k before KnC tons of Asics hit the network.

I love all these people who bought Avalon chips thinking they could sell clones for insane prices.  Seriously, you're in the commodity hardware business, the margins are slim.

I have a question... I am looking at purchasing a rig, and am seeing threads bashing all these companies (ie BFL and KnC)... how do we know who is legit?
