Title: AI paradox and future
Post by: dBrain on December 19, 2017, 05:29:23 PM
Here's an interesting article on MIT Technology Review (https://www.technologyreview.com/s/609318/the-great-ai-paradox/), looking deeper into what they call The Great AI Paradox. The author, known technology journalist Brian Bergstein says there are two popular ideas when people are thinking about AI:
"1. With computers becoming remarkably adept at driving, understanding speech, and other tasks, more jobs could soon be automated than society is prepared to handle.
2. Improvements in computers’ skills will stack up until machines are far smarter than people. This “superintelligence” will largely make human labor unnecessary. In fact, we’d better hope that machines don’t eliminate us altogether, either accidentally or on purpose."

Then he stresses that even though the first scenario is already under way, it won’t necessarily lead to the second scenario, and then explains several very important matters. Check it out if you are interested.

So what do you think about AI and what future is out there?

There will be more and more inter-penetration between machines and humans, behind each machine will be more humans, behind each human will be more machines. Only earth flora & fauna should worry about this.
