For me, the price rise on sooooo many alt coins!!!!!!! 8) :o ;D

Yes this year a lot of the altcoins rised up very high. Like Litecoin went from $100 to $300 and it keeps on increasing. That was one of the coin that has surprised me, because it went up quickly.

Ethereum is this year also very good. This means that we need to hold up coins instead selling them too quickly for a low price.

Almost all alt coins went up! I believe they're gonna keep climbing!

The BTC price at the end of the year is an absolute record and on August 16, the BTC dropped to the price of 1,600 $ / 1pcs. I regret that I did not buy. I was hoping it would go down ...

The popularity of bitcoin took me by surprise, and the price too of course. It surpassed so many price margins even though I expected a peak point at around 5k $. Alts too got it's break, what's most important is bitcoin creating a breakthrough towards online trading.

Year still didn't ended, maybe it's a bit too early to summarize things?
Many amazing things happened this and I can't choose which one was most surprising, so I will mention 3 things:
First - incredible price increase of all coins. Ten, hundred times bigger than it was in start of 2017 - it's something mind blowing and I think even biggest optimists hardly expected it.
Bitcoin forks - after successful release of BCH, so many new forks was made. Let's attract attention by using Bitcoin name to call a shitcoin.
ICO's crazy increase number of ICO's, compared with 2016. New trend to attract crazy amounts of money. Even scam projects without real products and usage attracting millions of dollars. It's interesting how everything will continue to develop in 2018.

The crash that happened a week ago took me by surprise for sure...

Hello! It seems to me that everyone in the outgoing year was surprised by the events connected with the BTC. This is a crazy growth rate, and the panic that was deliberately created to bring down the rate of the main crypto currency and buy it at a lower price. Is it still going to be in the New Year! :)

Legacy king Bitcoin took me by surprise.  The whole drama was quite an experience for me.

First the was the bullish run of Bitcoin that almost seemed  unstoppable, then came the first hard fork where people made a lot of cash from the Bitcoin split, followed by not so exciting hardfork splits.

Then the whole drama ended with the weak side of Bitcoin finally being exposed causing a backlog in unconfirmed transactions.

When it comes in crypto, I surprised when the hashgraph trying to replace blockchain technology. I read what the purposed of this project and it seems that it is more reliable than blockchain, it is more fair, speed and secured. Hashgraph is consensus mathematical algorithm. The proponents challenging blockchain and trying to dethrone it.

Me too sir. I can't even imagine that the price of bitcoin will hit on 16000 usd. It was so amazing that this coin is super in demand in the market. But the sad thing is i have no saving or bitcoin when the price hit that.

Rising up the prices of Bitcoin and a lot of altcoins. Cryptomarket is growing a lot!

This year was crazy in terms of the price rise. Who would have thought that bitcoin, litecoin, and eth would put on so much money? There were many people being optimistic but they had few facts to back themselves up at the beginning of the year. If you told me that bitcoin was going to be at around 15k at the end of this year, I would have thought you were crazy.

Along with that, we've seen some insane volatility. I genuinely believed that Bitcoin could be over with the China FUD, even though I held on to some of what I owned (which ended up making me a lot of money now). I've learned a lot about investors and the crypto market this year.

For me, the battle between bitcoin and bitcoin cash was a surprise.
The next fork, with the support of financial and media resources, was able to win quite a large part of the crypto market.

yes . alt coins price rapidly , like ethereum, ripple , but best thing bitcoin price raised to record break level , this something good news for crypto currencies. I believe future is good for the crypto currencies , just two years back bitcoin was around $3000 to $4000 , now it is gone up to $14000. crypto currencies gaining more popularity and more  people are now  interested on  crypto currencies . i believe there is good future for Crypto currencies.

all the altcoins increase because the bitcoin price has increase. litecoin was at 0.018btc and that did not change, this price of $300 is because bitcoin is high. if bitcoin falls to $3000 then all altcoins will fall... I always consider an altcoin increase against bitcoin and not against fiat. Maybe I'm wrong.

The cancellation of segwit2x was the biggest surprise for me, I never imagined that segwit2x would be canceled, since they were so determined to follow with hard forks... the cancellation of segwit2x is a BIG victory for the whole bitcoin community

This year was successful for crypto world. Like everyone, I was really surprised by BTC price. And of course it wasn't expected for me that Bitcoin would be separated.  Also I was happy about a huge amount of new ICOs. Some of them seems to me very perspective, like stamps, confound and XCH. I hope this projects will succeed.

The end of the year was surprise for me because of so fast bitcoin price growth. Also the number of bitcoin users that have rised enormuosly as well as the whole crypto market.
I wasn't expected so many forks either and that so many people would be mislead by bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold and that they don't realise those coins are fake.
I beleive the next year brings us more surprises, both pleasant and unpleasant.

I think most people was surprised by the massive rise of almost all cryptoos thuis year.

For me, the surprise was altcoins market cap reaching $100 billion+. Bitcoin's rise from $5,000 to $20,000 in couple of months. Altcoin market price rising to $500 billion+. ETH stagnating at $250-300 range while bitcoin was rising.

There were few other small surprises but these were big ones.

For me it would be how cryptocurrencies have progressed and reached dizzying heights. Whether it be by influence or by how high its price have risen. It has overcome a lot of odds and I ak still putting my faith in this coins as I view them as the future

I took surprise when all of my bosses in work also know about bitcoin. Hahaa and after that they share to me some knowledge that I can applied in bitcoin. Also I was suprise when my wife allowed me to use computer all day long. But for me I took suprise because bitcoin is now rising again the price.. more demand more more high price.

I'm excited that altcoin has gained so much in this year's rally, but the more it rises, the more alert it is to risk.

What surprise me is some altcoins took only 2 to 3 months until it reaches high price, that's so fast, unlike bitcoin who took years. I really regret that I sold some of my altcoins in low price, they are all pumping this month. I'm just a newbie in altcoins trading, if only i knew the power of holding, then I could easily earned 0.5 btc. I'm really looking forward to 2018, I hope that I got valuable tokens from airdrop that will moon next year.

What surprise me was some of these altcoins I bought early this year increased its price and I wasn’t really expecting them to increase that much within this year although I am planning to hold on to these coins for a couple more years to go.

The surprise for me this year that everyone asking for how many bitcoins you hold currently my answer is nothing , I told everyone last year that invest in this coin but no one hears but now they saying i want to go in past and invest i that coin , Last year i received more than 2 btc unfortunately i sold and bought something else  I even received more than 0.035 Btc for signature last year but its worth currently in that time that money was nothing . Currently i am keep investing in altcoins like ethereum and bitcoins promotion on top scale

I was surprised, when I checked my wallet, and noticed that I have a token inside, then I did checked it's value in a block folio, I was surprised that my token has a huge value, then it is being continue in rising.

Yeah, 2017 is 2013 all over again. What surprise me the most is Bitcoin able to break $10K and going higher instead of correcting to $8K or something. I didn't expect it to stable around this $15K level. The second one would be the crazy rise of shitcoins, like Doge, Verge, and XRB. Doge is a meme coin, literally meme coin, yet it went 3x-4x this month. The other two might not be shitty at all, but their rise has been pure craziness, I don't think they deserve it. But that's what crypto is like, smh.

which surprised me from the crypto world this year is looking at BCH and BTC altcoins. BCH up and BTC down. maybe BTG will also follow BCH. just waiting for the next surprise.

The price of btc is not like this high now since i start this august so it's suprise me and i regret that because i don't invest in that time because i'm scared but i think there always a chance so i still invest even it's so high now another thing here in crypto surprise me the knowledge in any user that can brings and also the earnings when i'm i want only to play faucets with little earn now i'm proud to say that i can earn big now not little in my campaign.

Two things, the high and low rise and fall of price and China Ban over Bitcoin and Crypto.

OMG, this year is a surprise for me. I held the OMG for a couple of months, and I've been paid dozens of times. I'm still bullish on it.

in the year 2017 there are many things that make me surprised, but the interesting thing is the BCH price is growing well, I did not expect BCH will go up, and really very lucky for those who have BTC. 1: 1

I would say the more than 800% increase in the price and also the fact that we reached consensus to implement SegWit and now merchants are ignoring it. They were pushing for a scaling solution and now they are ignoring it.

They seem to think BCash is the coin with the better scaling solution. <This is going to BCrash and Burn> As soon as transaction volumes on BCash reach Bitcoin's levels, it is going to BCrash.

For me the most surprising thing is the price of bitcoin . Honestly when I was in the start of year 2017 then I thought that the increase in price is still a usual Because demand is increasing but after that increase in price I didn't expected that price may increase to this extent ( about 10 times was looking impossible ) .
May be this was due to greed to get free coins of fork but also another factor of demand also increase and results into make contributions to increase investment more and more .
Well some another things also made me surprise like Digibyte coin whose price increased to 5-6 times ( after 6-7 months wait ) .

What surprised this year is that cryptocurrency had developed a lot than they were before. Particularly, I've notice that Bitcoin had grown so much and this is in a continuous matter, regardless of the rise and fall of its status it has reached I  think its highest value this year. I also noticed that other coins had progress, their value are starting to increase as well as the number of users having involvement with cryptocurrency. The fast growth of cryptocurrency is truly magnificent that it attracts more and more people to engage in this field.

Surprisingly in the world of cryptocurreny this year a lot of new coins and the price is fluctuating maybe next year more coins are popping up.

There were many moments which surprised us but for me the most surprisable moment was the increase in amount of Bitcoin, that was really a great and profitable moment for all its investors. At the start of 2017 and in the end of 2017 there was a huge difference in the price of Bitcoins which was not expected by anyone.

    In terms of crypto this year,i am surprise by different coins rising  and the price of bitcoin that increasing and become the famous digital cryptocurrency for the year 2017.

Bitcoin is full of surprise thats is for no doubht once the price rally start we can see jump in prices for 10 thousand dollars over night

What bitcoin value appreciation for this year really surprise me a lot. I mean for any investment I know only bitcoin give almost double its value in a matter of few months. It is also the kind of crypto whos market demand never fails despite of fluctuations and sudden drop in its price. This year really makes bitcoin the strongest crypto currency in the world and also the best investment to hold.

The whole crypto currency itself is surprise and it will always be like that way. With current rise in the prices of each and every coins and specially those which I held since long terms went off the chart and I was surprised about them a lot. That was real fun actually. Also, apart from that there was little disappointing surprise that many of the ICO projects turned to be scam at the end of this year and also lost many investment opportunity too. I was surprised to see so many good project turned into run away scammers and it got more doubtful to invest into ICO. The number is also dropped dramatically and its getting weird these days.

So yeah, the spikes in prices/market capitsaion, scam ICO's and decreased number of ICO's that are popping in the market is what hot topic this time.

I have some investments in Bitcoin. That’s why the growth of this currency have become really amazing thing for my money earning. Of course this price came back in some extent but otherwise I have got big results.

The things that makes me surprised in crypto world is that of altcoins price last december was having increase the value. Actually there is always surprises in crypto because of this volatility and people should be aware of and taking risks to have profit.

yes...this big risk takes a lot of strength and capacity...not every person is willing to take such a risk, but when you risk and get a profit - this is an amazing inspiration for further work

I got surprised by the sudden rise of its price.
It almost sky rocketed.

It is! This year, what made me so amazed was how ETH managed to crawl its way to a skyrocketed value that it has today. I distinctly remember the first time I saw its value was in august when the price was just around 348 USD.. now it doubled the price. I think because of the demand for it.
