My advice that bring it to professional service to avoid any damage to the sector in your HDD if you or someone without pro skill should make it gone forever.
I think cost to recover it should cheaper than amount of token you have, let's save 50% then you still have your Xmas gift :)
good luck!

it is possible to recover the data from a hard drive
but it also depends if that sector of the hard drive has not been used again for new data.
you can as suggested get someone to do it but if you dont trust that the sensitive data will not be stolen you could try it yourself.
im sure there is a program you can get to do a DIY job on it.

You try to find your Private key again! Without a Private Key, you can not use a wallet! Try and do not make your computer hard drive worse! Good luck!

if you set up system restore, i think you can try to check last date for 3 month ago.
And try to recover it.
If you cant find the date for 3 month ago, try to check in 4 or 5 month ago.
And try to recover it

There are recovery software available in the market. Scan all your hard drives and see if you can find the file that has your private keys. It is imperative that you have a professional work on your computer so you can recover files that were deleted. Traces can still be found in your HDD.

If you have created that eth address from myetherwallet than you might also have json file downloaded in your download folder. Search for any json file in your computer starting with UTC in file name.

Hope you will find it..

Guys, we should take care about our data and especially about crypto. I use Ledger Nano S + Dashlane for keeping all my passwords and secure notes with cloud synchronisation. I'm always use 2fa and VERY strong automatically generated passwords. Even if my PC will die I would be able to recover all my important and valuable data. And it's the safest and secure way to store text data that I know.

Lesson learned. Always take care of your private key and backup whatever wallet you are holding (if it's hardware, paper wallet, etc.). As for me, I put them down on paper and not relying only in saving those private keys and files in my hard drive. You should be open for multiple options to keep it safe and secure.
