Title: Nicehash site is up...
Post by: rickou812 on December 21, 2017, 01:13:47 AM
The nicehash site is back up.
However, my "non-login" account does not reflect the previous balance in the "old balance" tab.
It displays "Old balance 0.00025380 BTC"  for all non-login type accounts under the "Find Miner" tab..

So does this mean they are only going to reimburse those that mined to their log-in type accounts... ???

I had 0.01576199BTC when it went down..

Good to see NiceHack back! Already seeing a drop in swimmers at two pools.

Fired up NH client and tried to mine but a whole lot of O h/s showing. Eventually see a pool disconnect and then reconnect and back to O h/s showing. Installed the new NH client same results. Hmmmmm. More secure then ever check but did you have to make the client no longer work....lol.

Just checked redit and the consensus is that AMD mining is working but not NVIDIA. Back to ccminer for now.

The profitability calculator is also broken.  Shows me .44 cents profit for day, week, and month for a 1070ti.  Probably take them a few days to get everything fixed. Im not using them but always found their calculator and benchmarking tool helpful.

blah blah blah
the stratums aren't even up yet. Does the average nicehash user even understand how this works? lol

I can't connect to USA, EUROPE, JAPAN, CHINA... Oh look the India one is up. Brazil is up.
Tried USA again -- timeout

Maybe when this doesn't show half a page of ZEROES it's worth trying again:

Yeah it seems UP now, asking me to reset my 2FA, just did it.

My balance is 0, it was supposed to be 0.02 BTC, everything gone in vain, not sure whom to blame :(  (probably myself)

Is everyone seeing the same? I don't think people will see nicehash the same way they used to see before!!

Surprisingly or not, they are the best in the business just few hours after going online :D

Stopped mining Electroneum and compared NiceHash Legacy vs WinMiner- $6.7 vs $5.3. Not bad for first few hours :)

Their calculator shows past earnings for your hardware. And with an empty database it would only these  44 cents from the past couple hours.

and will nicehash fullfill their promise at 31 januari 2018?

Are you still trusting nicehash after the hack.. For me i feel this is inside job that is why almost all miners balance are gone..
Much better to mine directly with script like claymore or any script provided by trusted members here without any problem

and i have a question, will u all return to mine from nicehash?
and will nicehash fullfill their promise at 31 januari 2018?
i have 0,029btc at there...

If its real better to wait on january 31 just to be sure they are still legit or not if they are paid you out well you are lucky to get your bitcoins back..

I don't expect them to return stolen btc.  If they don't have it, they can't return it.  I lost a bit there as well, but was only 0.006, so not the same amount as yours, but I don't expect it to be comming back.  If it does, fantastic, bonus.

Right now my concern is paying off my miner and electricity costs.  To do that, I try and mine in the most profitable way to reduce the time it takes to Return my initial costs of the miner and the current electricity costs of running it.  If nicehash is the most profitable, and it significantly reduces the time it takes me to recover out of pocket costs in order to turn a profit, then yes I will mine there.

I will just have what ever the lowest payout threshold is so I leave as little as possible in their hands.

I don't know why miners use this niceshit , they already lost your money ,$60 f'kin milli thats real serious money , just use console miners or do you like to get bankrupted.

Warning, nicehash is SCAM
The ignore any statements about the stolen money because they did that!

It is just a question when they say uuuppps were hacked again and another 60m are on nicehash ceos private wallet;-)
A evidence is that they also didn’t change their weekly payment structures;-)

But you are free to feed the fish ;-)

The market is full of interesting competitors ;)

I would have considered returning to Nicehash if they allowed payout in Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, or Ethereum as an option, since they are still a BTC only payout site I have no intentions of heading back there anytime soon.

Really crazy that they actually found some investor who will pay for all the stolen funds.

Wondering if they had to sell part of their company to make it operational again.

Looks like another Bitfinex rescue story like they did with those shares.

Actually the stolen amount of bitcoins is not huge, so they can recover from this. As some suggested behind nicehash, there is oligarch person involved so not a big deal for them.

There's simply NO WAY those who lost their money would ever get it back. I'm sorry but just accept it and move on.
Even if they claim they have insurance and so on...

With that said I simply can't recommend NH any longer due to this farce.

Ill mine there AFTER I get my money back and they impement daily payouts like normal pools, not before

I am selling hash as I type

https://www.nicehash.com/miner/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

I use nicehash  as part of my business model

I mine to various  btc addresses from multiple locations

Each location  has a different  btc address.

If you mine from one location  just for yourself  you do not need nicehash.

I couldn't wait to get back.  Tried a variety of other pools, but nothing touches the returns from NH.

Currently on my little 4 GPU rig (2xAMD 570, 2xNVIDIA 1070) I'm getting ~$13-15/day.

I could never get that from any other pool.

Mad props to them on making plans to repay miners, as well.  I'm happy.

I wonder what percentage of the people will go back to this after what happened.

I already did. You may say why ? Because one of my rigs with modified bios and 6 x RX 570 series is doing 4950 h/s on Monero/Cryptonight algorithm. Paying 26.5 USD daily I guess one of the highest for such configuration and Monero is my favorite algorithm because it consumes less energy.

Same cards on Winminer were doing 3600 h/s or 17 USD daily, that is 270 USD more monthly with Nicehash. I would be stupid to not go back. I think they will not be hacked anymore and store all the coins in cold storage now.

The only thing I disagree is the same min payout, I would love to see 0.005 btc as min withdraw.

I for one, was a NH user, among others, but will not send any of my hashing power to their pool until they have paid my outstanding balance.  My opinion, they are providing a service, at a cost, and should be making it right  for their customer base before all else.  The fact they have decided to "Re-open for business" before settling their outstanding debt is concerning.

I wouldn't trust nicehack again, come on guys we know that they are giving convenience when it comes to the profit of our mined coins.

But it just happened that their security isn't good as others and they hired a past hacker or who knows that hacker is still on his own agenda and keeps on doing nasty things.

If I were you, I'll move to another pool and will not be fooled again by them.

I agree.  For me it runs deeper, Nicehash is in business because of the miners, not for the miners.  As a miner, we should hold them accountable.  I believe if they gain enough return miners inspite of their F'up, they will never repay the BTC.  Why would they?  The return of the miners to their organization gives the impression of a free pass...

Here is the deal, THEY WILL ANNOUNCE PAYOUT DATE ON JAN. 31st. which means they don't pay you back then but on some later date. If you are mining with them now, you are fronting the money for them to repay what they already owe you .... whole world of crypto is based on TRUST and each one of us can decide (for him/her self) how trustworthy are they after what happened.

As far as comments that other pools paid you less ... well, how much did you get payed from NH over last few weeks?

I hope that they rise up and be the best mining solution ever, but it will take time to regain the trust that they lost with many ...... just my 2c

Calling me noob is something stupid, having built more than 100 boards for many friends and not friends, lately I have done a successful bios modification also of one of the most problematic card and with Hynix memory. Why am I stupid, I make 0.011 btc weekly so max I can lose is one week of mining. I made 76 USD with Winminer in one week, while I am making about 160 USD within a week with Nicehash.

It is called risk taking and not stupid thinking.

Since I never found a good reliable pool with a LOW payout threshold for CryptoNight (Monero) mining, my CPU miners are pointed at Nicehash.
I had the one Vega doing something else while NH was down (not cryptocoin related), it's also pointed at Nicehash.
The rest I'm keeping away for now.

I think they're more profitable right away but maybe not long term... like I'm mining ethereum classic and stacking the coins at around 35-40, and hoping they go up to 75-100 next year, but I don't need the money right now, I'm waiting. Maybe I'll lose. I guess you could stack bc too, but I don't use my gpus for that. For straight up income daily nicehash is usually the best. Sucks about the hack but no risk no reward I guess.

I'm definitely not going to be mining at Nicehash until they have lowered the payout, paid what they owe people and proven that they are without issues for a reasonable time frame.

After all, you will likely make more money if you mine the coins directly and cash out to BTC. Especially since BTC is constantly fluctuating, and Nicehash takes forever to give you your BTC...  If you ever see it.. lol

So by the time you receive your BTC it might just be worth half the dollars that it was when you mined it...

Oh, and BTW... Don't be surprised if Nicehash suddenly has problems with their next payout, and it gets "delayed".  ;) :D

So Nicehash comes back online the same day that the last of the coins left the wallet they went into, in the meantime BTC went up to $19k, day it came back online BTC at $15.5k, were they sold at top price and bought back at lower price, in my calculations 4700 bitcoins at $3500 profit = 16.45 million dollars profit??
Just a thought??

I had the one Vega doing something else while NH was down (not cryptocoin related), it's also pointed at Nicehash.
The rest I'm keeping away for now.
Nanopool you can set to 0.3 Monero payout, that is pretty low. I still prefer nicehash and already switched back to it though.

I have a feeling that they knew somehow that the bitcoin price will crash soon. now they can buy back bitcoins on a much lower price. They said they will return bitcoins on end of January thats possible indication that by then the prices will go up again.

Yeah, it's very suspicious that this hacking is just before the bitcoin rate falls.
Well, at least let them return what was on the balance, and that's good for me.

If the hack was indeed an excuse to sell 4k+ coins at a price of 18-19K dollars. That's very clever move by them, profit at least $30mn+  . Well thats how you do it boys  ;D

It's obvious it was them that did the hack, anyone using this service is in denial and addicted to the site. I really don't want to associate with a service that is destroying mining for the real miners.

Well, none of the mining servers are accepting connections at the moment, so ethics aside you can't mine anyway...

Are you trying the nVidia miner? Legacy miner(AMD) works fine since yesterday...

Nope, using the tcp stratum address in Claymore/Cast. Tried EU, US and Asia versions. Maybe a temp glitch...

What is the old saying.....Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!!

Add also this one, once is enough - twice is too much.

As an update I've read in a group that there are some bugs existing and I can't post it since I forgot on what group of miners is that.

And that really made me feel upset on their comeback, no more NH. Take them guys with what you believe but I've warned you.

Done be just looking at "profits" since that is only IF they pay you  ;D  ;D  ;D

While I do not really hold grudge against them here are my few issues:

- Their minimum payment policy is still ridiculous
- They will announce on Jan 31st when will they pay out outstanding (pre hack) balances - so you are not getting payed on Jan 31st
- No real details on investigation, mitigation process etc.

There are many questions to be answered here. Also you will mine now and basically make them money that they will pay back your outstanding dues ... their h/s rate is slightly higher than other pools but is that cause they want your business back???

We are all adults here and should be able to make our own decisions but keep in mind that whole crypto world revolves around trust and there were some serious issues recently (hint hint) .....

It's your call, but I personally have a hard time trusting a site that got hacked, hasn't revealed anything about the investigation, hasn't confirmed they will reimburse everyone, and now wants people to come back and help them earn more money again.

It's a sh!t situation, and I will have to see some stability and reliability before even considering my hash power with them.

Do payouts have fixed or percentage fee?
Their website says "payouts from 0.001 BTC" which is atm like 11 USD. So if you keep payouting 50 USD your risk should be minimal with highest profitability?

Thus, what does "...from..." means? And how are payout fees calculated?

I am also glad that nicehash is back. The sum of the balances in my account is not active. It is written that specific information on refunds will be announced before January 31. But I don't really care. I never keep coins on an internal wallet. I'm more worried about the fact that the nicehash pools are working intermittently. The production is not stable. Periodically lost connection pools.

Scrypt on Nicehash at this time is LOWER profit than mining Litecoin via a pool like LiteCoinPool.

This is a reversal of the situation for 2-3 months before the hack, when Nicehash was paying out a LOT more for Scrypt hashrate than mining Litecoin directly, and usually more than mining any of the other Scypt altcoins.

The ONLY stuff I have pointed at Nicehash at this point is the cryptonight CPUs and my single Vega - which I had not found a replacement home for anyway as far as Monero mining went, so if their income gets lost it's no real loss to me other than a few watts extra power usage (and somewhat fewer DNet RC5-72 blocks crunched).

Very low risk (the extra electric usage), potential some gain, ONLY reason I'm using them at all for the next month and change.

My "old mining income" tab thing IS showing what appears to be the "correct" amount, but I didn't watch my Nicehash balance every hour or such so it could be off a LITTLE.

https://ahashpool.com/ there is a download link to an easy to use algo switching script on the main page and they auto converts to BTC.

Basically the same thing nicehash is doing for you, you just have to do a little bit of setup in the batch file to set your wallet, how often you want to check for a more profitable algo, and what algos you want to cycle through.  This script can be used with other auto exchange pools as well like http://zpool.ca/ with little effort.

It's not mine, but I've been using it for a few weeks making good rates on my GPU rigs.

The only thing I disagree is the same min payout, I would love to see 0.005 btc as min withdraw.

anyone who thinks like this noob does, is one stupidly naïve person. they didn't change much of anything. payout amount is the same, id bet all the funds go into a hot wallet still just waiting to get hacked again. so think they will not get hacked again is a stupid thing to think

Ignore him, he's a douche nozzle. Not worth the effort.

Probably their normal "wide swing" on payout as the market shifts.
The miner is semi-realtime, the web page is a snapshot.

The numbers in the dashboard have NEVER seemed to have a consistant grasp of reality - always off quite a bit one way or the other compared to the "24 hour" or "12 hour" numbers.
I have ZERO idea where the dashboard and "projected" numbers come from - they seem to be about 50% random factor around the REAL numbers.

It's possible to have this discussion without name calling.

I don't think the answer is black or white. With NH and pools in general, it's hard to see under the hood. At this point it's an issue of trust.
NH lost $65 mil. How are they going to make that back with a smaller customer base?

No matter how attractive the returns are in rev. 2, I would think that securing your wallets would be the #1 mission critical focus. NH would be a lot more convincing if they hired an experienced operations guy from say coinbase, bittrex et al. This would indicate that they are serious. NH in a way illustrates the idea that people who start companies up, sometimes can't really be the people who run them. The effort to have a decent operation is underestimated.

I guess to put it directly in terms of risk, I'm not convinced there will not be another operational screwup that wipes out any gains.

My guess is somehow given that Coinbase transactions are going to be free for the time being I would ASSUME that Coinbase may be contributing or investing as they stand to lose out considerably if NH doesn't continue their operations.

My rigs are back full time on NH and believe that this was just a security blunder. A massive one... And don't think I am not owned a few bucks that are in limbo.... My logic is they owned it and now are making lemonade so I will try to give them my resources in good faith and wait it out.

Apparently not right now - and given how crazy-high transaction fees are right now, it actually makes some SENSE to hold off on the "once per week" balance payments - the transaction fee in some cases would bloody near EQUAL the transaction amount itself.

This is USUAL for this time of year, transaction fees should start dropping anytime now and probably take 2 weeks to a month to get back down to "normal".

This is also why I try to avoid buying stuff in December and early January with Bitcoin, the demand and number of transactions skyrockets causing high costs and LOTS of issues.

I would assume they will be taking their fees as they are back and running to start to get people''s funds back.  Gonna be a long road of recovery though unless they get some investors.  Hope the end result works out well for both the miners and for nh, I liked nh's service and would hate to see them dissappear.

Now already ex-CEO Marko Kobal walked out also as owner (Bitorious). Sold his share (45%) to some small company Fleming digital d.o.o. with 100% ownership of Aljosa Sokic and some to his co-owner H-Bit d.o.o. whose owner is Martin Skorjanc - father of the notorious "hacker" Matjaz Skorjanc. This is that guy who was arrested and served time in the past for some cyber crime for which CIA was chasing him or something. New CEO was named Zdravko Poljasevic. Google says that he was/is a CEO of Kreativni najemi d.o.o. - company that imports, sells, rents luxurious cars in Slovenia.

Fleming digital spent 175.000€ to become 35% owner.
H-Bit spent additional 50.000€ to gain 10%. Now they have invested all together 325.000€ and are 65% owner.

This information is official.

And then some facts, median BTC transaction fees 2013-2017 (holiday season):

2013 $0.07
2014 $0.03
2015 $0.04
2016 $0.16
2017 $26

They wont get back to "normal" unless

1) Core is dumped, or
2) Core devs start delivering, I wouldn't hold my breath.

PS. I have said it before, Nicehash needs to contact Bitfinex (if they find a way how to do that). Bitfinex knows how to cover $60.000.000,00 of "stolen" funds in only 6 months.

Seems odd that 2016 was supposedly that low, I distincly remember having to go quite a bit higher than "sub $1" on transaction fees a year ago.

Definitely nowhere near the $25 ballpark I saw for my only "holiday period" transaction THIS YEAR though - think it was more like $5 and THAT seemed high at the time.

Title: Re: Nicehash site is up...
Post by: gotminer on January 10, 2018, 09:47:03 PM
I know people keep saying you're paying more in fees, but honestly, the fees are not high.  If you transfer to a coinbase account, there are not any fees other than the 2% that NH takes.

Comparing that to one of my rigs that is mining etn.  I'm paying 2% to the dev's to use xmr-stak, I'm paying 0.1% to SpacePool, I'm paying a fee when I transfer from my etn wallet to an exchange, I'm paying a fee to sell on the exchange, and I'm paying another fee to transfer from the exchange to coinbase.  Granted, some of those are very small fees, but they add up to more than 2%.

There is also the argument that you're losing out on profits in other ways, by using NH.  I agree that is the case sometimes.  There are cases when you mine a single coin for a couple of months and the value does a 2x or 3x or 10x or whatever.

On the flip side, with NH, you're paying 2% flat and getting paid in BTC, which can go up or down in value just as easily.

And then there is the argument just maybe you shouldn't trust NH after the hack and that is a very valid one.  You can mitigate the risk by making sure you're withdrawing to coinbase as soon as your wallet hits 0.003btc.  I believe that is the min withdraw amount from a NH wallet anyway.

I certainly think beginners should be learning the ropes and learning how to mine singles and trade on some of the other exchanges outside of coin base, learn to manage other wallets, ect.  Coinbase and NH make it extremely easy to forget about all of that stuff, but knowledge is a powerful tool.  Look at all of the people who had no idea what to do when NH went down.  They had zero knowledge, no backup plan, nothing.

So use NH or don't use NH for whatever your reasons are, but no matter what, don't stop diving deeper and learning new things.  You'll thank yourself for it later.

NH is convenient and convenience is something you have to pay for in Crypto. While the fees may seem small, over time they do add up. If you're trying to learn how to mine I still highly suggest learning the ropes with actual configuration and voltage, etc. You'll 'learn' as well as you would with Nicehash and you make more over longer periods of time.

No matter how you mine, ALWAYS regularly withdraw your earnings and keep them on an address whose key you own. You never know what can happen to your funds if you don't actually own them.

Are you still trusting nicehash after the hack.. For me i feel this is inside job that is why almost all miners balance are gone..
Much better to mine directly with script like claymore or any script provided by trusted members here without any problem

and i have a question, will u all return to mine from nicehash?
and will nicehash fullfill their promise at 31 januari 2018?
i have 0,029btc at there...

i think i'm will not mining there before they return my btc...
If its real better to wait on january 31 just to be sure they are still legit or not if they are paid you out well you are lucky to get your bitcoins back..
So any news on funds returning?

"The Repayment program will start on Friday, February 2, 2018, and will initially reimburse 10% of the old balance amount to all users that were impacted by the security breach.
We are committed to periodically repay the remaining amount to all users in the coming months."

I think you can be very happy if you get fully reimbursed (without interest). IMO it's hard that it will happen. Another hack is more probable.
