Title: What sort of investment is required to launch a coin?
Post by: Dek! on December 21, 2017, 08:35:30 AM
We see new coins everyday.. I wonder how much does it cost to program and launch a proper coin .. not a scam one.

If you have a proper use-case and are certain about adoption. What sort of money you should be looking at to invest before you plan to launch a coin?

Replies will be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is a very long process and it only needs a team which can make a commitment towards this process. First thing is the idea, because every crypto currency has some idea behind it which is making it different from other. Second thing is the cryptographer who can give you some AES standard key to encrypt the transactions and third thing is accountant for ledger and audit. The algorithm will be based on your idea which will ensure the security as well. After all of this, if your work will be attractive, people will start investing money without even telling you.

To create a coin you need a team, a product and advertising. I think it's thus really hard to count the needed money for that, because it depends a lot on whether you have a real project for it, whether you will manage to have good partners.. Yet I guess min 1 million dollars would be enough to do such a thing. You can take a look at the funds raised on ico projects to see the sums.
If one has a product but doesn't have a lot of money to launch a currency then it's a lot better to launch a token on Waves. It's super-easy and really cheap. Thus you won't need to spend money on a team but, if the idea is good, can still make good profit.

but all this will be useless.
if the project you created does not have a good future.
because it can not attract enthusiasts and investors will be difficult to trust and invest the funds there.
a great idea is needed to create a project

It is difficult to answer your question without knowing the specifics.
You can provide the terms of reference?

Why it is difficult bro. To say in a single money in the matter for all the things to be done everywhere. You will find the paid developers, planning, marketing managers and escrows here in the forum itself. Other than there are many site working completely to make the perfect altcoin for the investors.
If you are nice investor, you will be able to make the better crew behind. It is simple corporate logic to understand bro.

I gotta say I partially disagree with the answers on here. Here's pretty much all you need:

-Good understanding/knowledge of the Bitcoin source.
-The ability to run a Linux command line.
-One (preferably two) dedicated servers for master nodes.
-A well seasoned Bitcoin talk account.
-And obviously the drive to push your project through. A coin needs alot of time and dedication.

I'd say all of the above bullets require a great investment of your time. Only one bullet actually costs money.
