Did you know that investing $100 on NEO or XEM or LTC or ETH or DOGE or on 33 other altcoins last January 1, 2017 is more profitable than investing on BTC with the same amount and on the same date?

If you invested $100 last January 1 on

• ETH, you could have made $10889 today
• DOGE, you could have made $3703 today
• NEO, you could have made $53383 today
• XVG, you could have made $729273 today

While if you invested the same amount on BTC on the same day, then you only made $1757.

What I'm trying to say is do not be afraid of investing on altcoins. There are lots of altcoins that in a year or so, its value will be 1000% more than its value today. So good luck finding those cryptos!

I have known only bitcoin during that time. I did not know there were altcoins.
I did not invest bitcoin though, for I was not sure.  ;D

Yes If we have invested in these above coins I guess we are rich today. Like in xvg I didnt expect price today is huge, and eth, neo are really profitable. I agree it is best to invest those profitable coin which you can hold because this will bring you a better portfolio with a better profit.

I agree with your point investing in alts are more profitable than investing in BTC,hence trading btc is less profitable than the trading alts.

Yes, I knew that a couple of months ago. The altcoin growth is better than BTC's. That's why 2018 is going to be a year of altcoins I think. Bitcoin will stop growing and will become just an asset. Altcoins will rule.

Good observation and you are absolutely right. with you information I thin you can help starters to become more active in different crypto instead of sticking with bitcoin. The growth of those are absolutely outstanding and continuing to do so.

The problem is we cannot predict whether this coin's value will rise x1000 next year or not. And to find out which alt coins will be profitable, you need to invest to almost everything and wait. But researching will also help.

I was very skeptical when I read this, but I did my own calculations and, well, that it's surprisingly correct. I did not see that XVG coming. I guess even with these great news about bitcoin hitting all time highs, we fail to see that it only multiply by about 18x in price compared to that on jan.1. Where as this XVG coin, multiplied thousands of times since jan 1.

It's all good.. But how to forecast the coins to invest? Intuition? Knowledge? Analytics? All in complex?)

There are many coins which can give that kind of profits. Even the cryptocurrencies' popularity, in my opinion, there are still good profit opportunities.

You are right, some altcoins have huge potential recently cardano, icon, powr and more hood projects have made 10x - 30x gains and still looking bullish.

It's obvious that the higher token price and its cap the less change that it would make a big profit. BTC is good only for holding or for trading on its waves, though it's quite risky.

A random coin from the top 200? top 400? The lower the coin on the list, the higher the chance that it will not survive next year at all and your $ 100 can turn into dust

Yeah altcoins definitely offer more potential than bitcoin even if that has been hard to notice in the last few weeks. XVG really seems to have been a beast though, I didn't know the profits were that high wow.

the problem is we don't know the future. There are many altcoin and number of coins falling stronger bitcoin is no more. I as an example, I was hold 400 k B3 and now I have $0 . Bitcoin is still the safest choice

Good analysis. Initially I don't want to invest on altcoins as well. But I see big profits on it, so for the last 6 months, I keep buying and holding the top 10 coins and this month alone I'm so happy that I invested early and taking the profits today. Just happy that I made the decisions because bitcoin price is really too steep for someone like me.

Yes, don't be afraid to invest on altcoins. Some of them are really for pump-and-dump, but if you are lucky, holding them long term will give you high yields in the future.

It is not bad to invest on altcoins but you should watch and know what altcoins you're investing in. Don't put all your investment money on altcoins so you still have some if the investment backfired.

Wow that was really a big profit. This coming new year, I will be investing money on altcoins, I will try to research on what ICO or coins will be profitable to invest into.

It seems to me that bitcoin is so popular because most don't think about it. Many owners of bitcoins do not pay attention to altcoins. Among the people far from a cryptocurrency that solves many people have heard about bitcoin. Some of them decide to probovatj, invested in bitcoins and closed on it. Gradually other coins will become available and it is a long process.

You have collected a good and informative data but one thing is clear that when something gets popularity in the market then there is no need to advertise or anything else and the same is in the case of bitcoin. Bitcoin is now a brand of the world of cryptocurrency. People are not looking at the percentage of their earnings; they are looking at the market cap, trust and increasing price.

Indeed, altcoin has given us too much of this year, but whether you can hold on to it for a long time is still a problem, because no one can predict the future.

This just gave me the confidence I need.
I invested 10,000 EUR the last couple of weeks on different altcoins.
Right now my total portfolio is down -10%. But I AM in it for the long term, seeing this just made me smile :)

1 year, 2 years, 3 years, however long it takes. I believe you CAN'T lose money investing in about 6-8 different coins that have a good team behind them.

Eldrin you are right with this. When I was quite new to crypto I'm very afraid of investing into some altcoins but now I'm not, there are too many opportunities and we can earn doubled or tripled - more than what we can earn by just simply holding bitcoin. But still it's better to include bitcoin in your portfolio and don't forget that you can still have some faith with bitcoin if you'll just hold it.

its the truth of cryptocurrency. and seems like more people are realize its not profitable anymore to invest in bitcoin. altcoin is the real coin with real project behind it. so it would really great to know that great amount you could earn if you invest in this year.

Wow these profits that you showed are sick. Thanks for the info. However I think that it doesn´t mean that is better to invest in altcoins than Bitcoin, they just have different values of risk and reward, they are different investments. There are many more new coins that have made lost all their money to the investors and you won´t see big news of them; while BTC is a less risky investment.

Yes there are altcoins that is profitable to invest on but we cant predict their future so we are choosing the comfort zone which is sticking to btc because its well established and first successful crypto. Investing in altcoins can also give good amount of profit but choosing the right one is not that easy and need proper research.

Altcoin profit are crazy profit! Litecoin also did 75x xrb did 75x and iota did 50 x in value. I tell people that bitcoin is not as profitable as altcoin. I am very good at speculating this alt prices.

It's true that altcoins offer a far better profit opportunity than BTC, but there are a ton of pump-and-dump coins out there. The key is to correctly evaluate the potential of a project and the team behind it and diversify your portfolio. This way, you are practically minimizing your risks.

It's funny that you say "ONLY" 1757$.

1757$ is 1757%, which is crazy gain for 1 Year.
You can only dream about it at the stock market, and it will take you years to  achieve such percentage.
I think that those numbers just show that we are in a bubble, it is impossible to have such a gain on all the coins, seems like all numbers are winning numbers, everybody wins.
Why? because new fool money enters the market, and not only that, those who purchased the coins just hold it and won't let it go, makes the supply go down.

This is the reason why investing in alts are more profitable than investing more on BTC.

That is why I am planning to invests in atleast top 5 alt coins in the market rankings and wait until the end of 2018, if somehow they managed to gain profits then I would stop holding them, its true that altcoins have greater potential compared to btc because of the very big price difference.

But there is another side to the coin. It's very easy to talk about events that have already occurred. And if it were not the coins you wrote that were profitable coins, they were quite different. You would at best remain with your 100 dollars (and most likely these 100 dollars would have turned into zero). And bitcoin has steadily increased in price and the main thing is predictable.

Your post gave altcoins a boost for me. At first I'm kind of skeptical about altcoins, though they're growing as well. Now, this is a handy to note, especially now where 2018 is coming. Looks like I'll consider altcoins for now, and BTC for some time within the year.

Yes you are right. If you look at the percentage and growth, bitcoin is not the most profitable currency. Just the cost of 20 000 for 1 coin is simply shocking. The brain turns off, eyes want 20,000, and not 70 bucks for NEO, and arms tend to buy bitcoin. If you look at the cold calculation, the altcoins are more profitable, although their price is very far from $ 10 000+.

Invest 2018 01 01 same amounts into promising currencies and calculate your gains/loses after a year.
Dont think what could have been if you have invested it last year, that opportunity is already gone

Agree with your post, but I'm not long term investor, just trader. I'm not rich guy with a lot of money to invest, so I need to do something worth to collecting fund and we call it trader. From your post, I agree with the mindset but " hold " that long very risky. If I take wrong coin it will be disaster and lost all my money. We have different way but same direction, thank you anyway.

The thing is that nobody gave a shit to such currencies as verge and antshares, they made huge profits, but all that did huge profits was on the floor for a long time. You know, you can repeat this scenario. There is one coin that can make you rich, and it is outsider now. MOONCOIN, if you've heard about it. Now trading at 1-2 satoshi, but it seems that can make a real big run. Besides, only 100$, think about it ;)

Agreeing with you, tho BTC is really the mother of all the cryptocurrencies, there are still many digital coins that has a potential to increase in time because of the well-established platform. Don't stick with just btc, just be cautious enough in trading and picking a good coin. Investing in top 10 coins has a high probability of profit.

All you said is right OP but we never know which altcoins that will become big in the future and the price can increase so high like that. It's hard to predict like that, if we know which altcoins will increase like that, many people will become rich because of altcoins haha.

We do not know much and can not foresee. When bitcoin was 1k too, no one thought that in such a short time it would increase several times. Altcoins are very promising now and your list can be supplemented with other coins and bring the facts.

Yes altcoin really amazing can make many people changed their life. Now also there are new many altcoin that has good potential, and this year will be more and more altcoin that will give big return. About 8 month ago i was start just by $500 to make investment in crypto but now i have money about $50,000, and only in crypto i can make it.

This is a very good commend eldrin. I've noticed it some months ago (I'm new in cryptos) and this is actually my tactic.
I've split initially my portfolio into 3 parts 60-20-20 ( BTC-ETH-LTC) and it's obvious today that the growth isn't equal.
Three months later the portfolio is 48-28-24 and the value is tripled. I think if it worths selling a portion of one coin to keep the balance or take some of the profit to invest in other coins too.

The chances of finding a successful investment in XVG is very slim. I don't know of anyone that became a millionaire on that coin.

Yes past finished we cant go and make it happen again so now i am investing on Dimcoin , Electroneum , DCN and TRX and leaving to check after one year . Lets see what happens my 1000$ will turnout to be.
