Thanks for this awesome analysis. Yeah who doesn't want to pay $70.000 for a coin that has higher transaction fees than an international bank wire (currently over $50), that can only process 7 transactions per second world wide, that's useless in physical shops for its 10 minutes confirmation time and shops wont offer anyway because no serious shop can live with this kind of volatility, let alone the extreme transaction fees. Yeah $70.000 for such a useless coin, that makes sense, at least, if you're a dreamer :) Do you want to buy some tulips ? I have some rare ones, they're red, $25.000 each you can have them :)

now I do not see anything bright in Bitcoin. they need to solve the delay is the number of transactions and fee choking natural growth.  with slow speed and transaction fee to pay for a transaction is too large, Bitcoin will not be able to compete with other payment methods such as paypal ... so I think 70 k $ is not satisfactory. waiting

There is little resistance at this time, there may be some decrease in the level of trust. Currently, transaction delays have become a very significant problem. unconfirm the transaction that could make some people distract from Bitcoin, but there are still alternatives such as altcoin. Altcoin we can use as an option when Bitcoin is experiencing problems, it is worth noting that exchange who receive Altcoin must be able to provide services such as withdrawing to real currency. But again that Bitcoin can not grow and get a bright future when some problems have not been resolved properly.

Current support is at $10k which can remain there for few weeks if people will keep on dumping but if there will be more buying force than selling price can make good floor at $15k.

Than we might not see much momentum for next few months, I think $50k is possible by end of 2018.

Well we do not know what will be happen in the future.. Honestly i came back here in forum just to know what happen to bitcoin because i lost the opportunity to make profit with my bitcoin but the price was drop too fast the same when the price is increase fast past few weeks and months.
Well i think buying would be great choice right now because i know the price will increase more so i don't lose this opportunity to buy more bitcoins for these next huge pump..

Everyone is referring to dutch tulip mania nowadays but this is different. Bitcoin is a game changer. I dont think we'll ever use BTC for mini transactions or else but Bitcoin is like gold in nowadays, a referral point. So this is not some shady flower, this is gold in crypto.

Gold you can use, you can make jewelry, a lot of people like that. Bitcoin on the other hand is nothing, it only has value because people thought it would keep increasing in value. As a payment system it failed. Too expensive, too slow, too volatile. So once people will stop buying it, it will crash. And that's what's happening now.

Aa of noa the price of the bitcoin is down and it's now 15k dollars and for sure it will increase again or recover for it's lose . For sure many people buy again bitcoin so the price will increase more. Several price predictions have been coming out of the cryptocurrency users community. Among that the $70k prediction too seems to be one. Already there are several cryptocurrency enthusiasts who have predicted the price of bitcoin to reach $500k before the targeted year 2020. As it's an speculative asset people keep on making value predictions based on the fluctuations.

Yeah people want to use bitcoin as currency and this use will give huge rise of price to the bitcoin but the main thing is the transaction fees are very high and in start people said that as the bitcoin will become more valuable prices will come down but this didn’t happen bitcoin organization must have to think about this thing that people need lower fees to circulate it and maybe if fees get low prices will be more higher at the end of 2k18.

Some people are still stuck with transaction and fee problem. They can't understand bitcoin is an investment asset, not a payment asset. I you miss this point, you complain too much about it.

Bit coin price increases $ 100k.But it will be a bit harder to reach $ 70k next year.In the next three months, the inner growth will start to increase.In the next six months, it will reach a new destination.

Well, you may be right, but we have to consider that things are changing and the adoption is increasing greatly and so far, bitcoin does not stand a chance of users having a swift transaction unless the scaling issue is resolved and if care is not taken, that can start getting people frustrated and would not speak well even for new investors when they find out they can get a cheaper one that can even do it better. I am optimistic that things will change though with the lightening network.

This is what people really want but the truth is that is not feasible right now and it is becoming more difficult in making transaction and that is gradually drifting bitcoin towards being a speculative asset. I am not sure if that is good enough but I am sure being a currency would really make it more interesting and will make it grow even faster in value than we have now.

Even with this value, there is nothing one can really pin point to be driving the value up except for speculations and FOMOs which is making it more like a bubble which it should not be. Once the scaling issue is solved, that would make it more appealing to use and would drive up the value even more and even get bitcoin better to the mainstream, but for now, that is just not something that seems possible.

For now, this couldn't be considered a possibility due to the volume of bitcoin is not yet that high the lost of steam as one of their avid supporters has really affected the volume of use of bitcoin given that most of the gamer are wide known to be in knowledge or user of bitcoin.

Mining fees is destroying Bitcoin and limit it to background as many people are converting there Bitcoin to ethereum before cash out. Ethereum is now taking the place of Bitcoin  just because greed and selfish is now affect this decentralized coin. I doubt if Bitcoin is going to get to $70,000 before end of 2018 and the mining fee then may be half of your withdrawal.

That's a prediction that's far away from the present price of bitcoin. If the price starts to show growth similar to that happened with bitcoin over the past year we'll reach $70k by the end of the year. Also more country's active involvement is required to experience a sustained growth.

Honestly, I’d rather have this kind of thread rather than a negative one simplifying that it’s all what reality has come into the future but never give such proof of such claims but rather go in with information from those against bitcoin or have affiliate with other cryptocurrency coins that is totally jealous on what has been the journey of bitcoin.

I don't wanna be a pessimist, but at the current time I do not believe bitcoin will increase a hell of a lot more. It will top around 20k dollar, atleast that's my best guess right now, mainly due to the high fees that are needed, making the coin useless if you only got a small amount, it shaves off a big chunk.

If anything, I see certain altcoins rise up more, as they have faster transactions.

The end of the year is already close and even at the beginning of 2018; we may still keep seeing some gradual dragging on the sideways before we see a bullish trend to test the previous top. For now, the base is strong enough to keep holding it from going down forward and I really hope it does not.

Also, once the LN is deployed and that resolves the scaling issue to some great extent, then we should expect a huge drive up in price.

It depends on demand the demand for btc in the past few months of 2017 has been really high so such a price was expected currently many are selling it because it's end of the year , it surely doesn't make any sense but that's how most markets work.

   Optimistic and bald prediction, I agree with that. But if Bitcoin dev`s solve some problems
with fees and transactions speed we can see Bitcoin price going up again like it did all this

The expectation is very high the price will move to the $30 + but i think th market is saturated and the people are moving to the other side of this coin. They are invested in the short term investment when the price rise they withdraw the amount of bitcoin. And when the supply high in the market then the price fall again and this happed in the market.

I think that f bitcoin doesn’t reach to 70k in the next year, it is sure that it will gain this target in the coming two years I mean in 2019.

The next years are very enthusiastic for bitcoin investment and more and more people will invest in bitcoin for their better future. I have also invested in bitcoin to earn a lot of money and buy all the comfort of life in my future. I will be more excited if the price hit 100k in the next year.

If the price of the bitcoin on the end of 2018 is $70 k it is very unlikely, because currently only the price movements do not show in the bitcoin price so I am not sure if the price of the bitcoin on the end of the year 2018 is $70 k, it is likely that the price in the year 2019 but I expect the price will exceed the of the bitcoin on $70 k could probably achieve a price of bitcoin $85k it will happen if the price of the bitcoin move increases continually in every hour ...

It is possible because the trend is towards bitcoin investment. It is the fast growing crypto in the world and the people are investing in bitcoin for high earnings and they are right in their decision because bitcoin is giving them a very huge amount of profit. 70k is I think reachable but may not in 2018 because it will have to grow about 57k dollars to reach to this point which is a very huge amount.

No way, bitcoin price can never grow to reach $20,000 in a month, it may take some time i guess. And we are expecting to see the bitcoin price grow to reach anywhere between $50k to $60 by the end of this year 2018.

We all do that optimistic prediction to bitcoin that it will be up for only 1 month. Price is starting increase again and it's nearly hitting $14,000 very soon. And as other speculations that were given last year they are saying that bitcoin can be stable at $20,000 - $40,000 and that's the highest price that I've heard but with your own prediction that it will be @ $70,000 at the end of 2018, why not?

If you look at the stocks of various companies listed in the world, then you'll find that only the Saudi Aramco may have a market cap exceeding this amount. Even heavyweights such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have market caps lower than $1 trillion.

For it to reach 70k all current challenges should be solved and a new massive adoption should happen. 70k is not a joke for anything in the world so is not a easy threshold to reach

We never know if it is happen because there's a high numbers of competition in the crypto currency industry. I never expect too much high value but I never expect too much low. I'm looking forward that bitcoin reach that amount but not in short period of time.

I think reaching $ 70k by 2018 is certainly not something that is easy to achieve and certainly requires the adoption of many countries and various parties to invest bitcoin, but surely if we look at the fact that progress in bitcoin in 2016- 2017 has increased significantly in 1-year bitcoin prices are rising dramatically, and it is not impossible if $ 70k will be reached by bitcoin by the end of 2018.

In point of fact, Bitcoin will beyond the limits, particularly in 2018. In fact, maybe the first period there will be some difficulties in the low price and some other problems in market cap ,then  surely that there will be a pleasant surprise in coming months and maybe at 1st  mars 2018 the price will hit 40K  and after that there will be some volatility.

Bitcoin's market cap will never form a problem. Don't pay attention to the growing altcoin market caps, because especially in Ripple's case, the far far majority of the total supply is in the hands of just a few entities. If you have all other idiots buying Ripple on top of that, it basically takes away another large chunk of these coins out of the directly tradable market. It's manipulation of the highest levels, which for the noob buyers, will result in something extremely bad. As soon as Bitcoin continues to increase, altcoins will get sold off again, which will make a lot people buying at current levels major bag holders, and the banksters behind Ripple celebrate having made massive profits.

That is right what you are talking, its sounds crazy but what happened last year was big surprise for most of us here, I can't imagine how it looks like to people outside bitcoin world. I also believe that reaching 70k dollars is possible for bitcoins its just couple times more then bitcoin all times high month ago when price was 19k dollars. Everything is possible in crypto world, I agree with that more then anything else, we saw how crazy things happen, most of them just rare people expect, let's wait and see first couple months of this year and then we will see more clearly what will happen to bitcoin in this year.

70k end of 2018 maybe possible but you know the market is very active. The price is currently up and down and I believe this month of januay possible of $20k. All I can say there is always the possibility to reach the amount.

I couldn't agree more with BlackPanda. The transaction fees and transaction duration has been a deal breaker for Bitcoin recently making alt coins more favorable. The rise of Bitcoin also has been gradual and slow lately which is why I feel most people are losing interest on it. As BlackPanda pointed out, if problems are yet to be resolved, the growth of Bitcoin would be affected immensely. We should learn how to value it and use it appropriately.

With regards to Bitcoin reaching a $70,000 rate at the end of 2018, I have to say that ot is still too early to tell. With the unpredictability in trend and its rate, anything can still happen in a matter of seconds. Uncertainty is really prevalent when it comes to Bitcoin rates.

This is too fantastic a forecast. I do not think that bitcoin will be able to attract so much attention that it is not supported by new investors. Many people plan to make money with altcoins, which will hamper the popularity of bitcoin.

We are ranging at around ~$15k after we had a massive bullrun last year. I think this is some big achievement and therefore no reason to feel depressed.
Who knows what this year will bring, but it won't be easy to top last year. Therefore imo we shouldn't have too much expectations in terms of price. Better being too conservative and kind of pessimistic than way too euphoric.

That speculation was hard to meets in the following months, even how fast bitcoin value raised up I think it enough to touch $80,000. As I view now in the market I think it took a long period of time before achieve it, I was challenge bitcoin in 5 years if their amount cannot touch $100,000 on that period I guess they have no enough ability to erase fiat in the world.

I believe that bitcoin have no enough resources to give $80,000 to the users, however we can see it before or after 2018 if they can touch it.

A lot and that is not good for bitcoin. Bitcoin's price increasing to that extent right now does not seem possible for now and unless the whole issue of transaction getting stuck and the high level of transaction fee is solved, then that would bring up some limitations and I really hope attention does not even start shifting to an altcoin that would do it better as some whales are already using that opportunity to shift user's focus right now.

But there are multiple solutions like segwit addys and lighting network are in progress which are the things will push bitcoin prices forward. But, as of now, we are facing corrections and we can see bitcoin prices to jump to track very soon.

Another thing is the fact that scaling on chain transaction capabilities is not gonna solve our problems at all, we need off chain solution ASAP.
Bitcoin is not the best currency, it is however great asset and store value, it will be much better if we just accept that truth.

Bitcoin fundamentally is very limited versus mass scale adoption, that's for sure, but as you pointed out earlier, we do need off chain scaling solutions, which is LN directly speaking. At that point Bitcoin offers every aspect people expect a currency to have. In more relevant terms, conducting small purchases, micro transacting, micro tasks, etc. Another benefit will be that with LN, the practical need for altcoins will decrease significantly, making sure that the money currently parked in altcoins will flow back into Bitcoin. The only thing that made altcoins grow significantly, is Bitcoin's current incompetence. Take away that incompetence with LN, and 99% of the altcoins will just serve as speculative investment tool.

The last time I saw a prediction last year December that bitcon will hit $50,000 in that month alas it ending with a low price of $13,000.
The growing price of bitcon will come but it will not be in such a rush.

As a users of bitcoins we should be positive and optimistic about its price that it will keep on growing in future but at the same time we also need to be realistic and should not dream that is impossible and I don't think that bitcoin will achieve that high price in this year as its too high to expect from it and if more investors starts investing their money in it still it won't go above $25k I guess in this year and if it goes then it will be a win win situation for all of us.

I'm not sure about it. Indeed the market value of Bitcoin is increasing at a high rate but the problem is that we don't know until when will this rate of increase continue. Surely its market price will be nore expensive this year but I don't really know if it will make it to 70 000 USD this year since it will be a huge leap for its value. There is no limit to the upside. Recent price surge, which happened in the second half of 2017, was driven mostly by speculation. If Bitcoin does get scaled up in the coming months, we could expect even more speculation. The major roadblock to future expansion is slow and expensive transactions. Once this issue is resolved in one way or another, we will see the price hitting new highs.

no, it is impossible that the price of bitcoin will achieve $70000 at the end of this year 2018. Now a days the price of bitcoin is $14000  and this price was increase reguraly from few days but it impossible to the price of bitcoin that's it achieve $70000 from my views it achieve the price approx $25000 at the end of this year but no one sure about that what will happen in the future so any thing is possible in the world.

Here we go again with other bitcoin prediction which has might as well turn more opposite of the present price. We should stop making this naive prediction, at least, let's learn from 2017. Last year ending prediction should teach us that we should not be quick to predict or judge. Do not get me wrong, bitcoin might end with a good price by the ending of 2018 but let's wait and see how the middle of 2018 will be like first. We should be realistic.

It sounds amazing for bitcoin to be 70k by the end of 2018 but I don't think this gonna happen in this year. It's just the beginning of the year and the price is still hanging around 13k - 14k, I believe it will soon lift up, most probably from the next month. And I think this year it would surely make up to 30k but till then 70k is quite harder for it to achieve...

I think its possible unless bitcoin valued will bullish without struggle to the top perhaps that price is easy to reach. But unfortunately there will be a volatility always so i think its impossible to happen.   

Stick to your long term plans, that's what I'm doing right now. Enduring these painful dips and corrections will let you earn decent amount in the next days. What you have to do is you need to be patient while waiting for it's price to pump again. Plummet is normal to a market that has been bullish before and I'm now just believing on my gut feel that it will increase even though it will or it won't reach $70k for this year.

I wouldn't refer to them as "painful dips." You have your BTC and if you don't sell it then you don't realize a loss. Just hold on to it until it's a gain. I don't think dips are painful, rather they're an opportunity for you to buy cheap coins so you have more of a gain when the price goes back up. The price won't stay at this level forever, it will go up eventually.

There's no chance of 70k $ this year. It's possible around 20-25k $. The end of last year and the decline in prices gave people a little bit to think about. The price isn't growing so fast and people are hold bitcoin counting for growth.

I doubted also that bitcoin will go far with that certain amount,it really far from happening within this year. Considering that bitcoin growth rate is now slowing and not even go higher even reaching into $17k after it's huge dump before end of 2017. Although we can't really predicts it's changes, but as mostly speculated price it could not be higher by $40k within this year.

well, btc 70k end of the 2018 can not say anything but people are hoping it must be grow up and they can take the next step let's see what will happen but i think the prize will grow up next 3 month and end of the 2108 prize i am excepting that is $20000 to $25000 i will try to make my self strong.

The most occurable to me is a 50k mark which I am sure is absolutely possible to reach in the 4th quarter of 2018.

yeah, I also think $70k is too high for bitcoin. As of now investors are more interested with altcoins especially with ETH, it is more likely to bitcoin compared to other altcoins. I think ETH has a very good potential.

In my opinion, It's hard to hits the price of $70k because bitcoin has a problem. Nowadays transaction fees are very high and slow. If they fix it, maybe bitcoin hits more than $70k.

There is always a chance, i've read and laughed upon various such claims throughout my time on this forums. "No way bitcoin can cross $2/3/5/10k in 2017". How can you lack imagination? ignore possibilities? I agree $70k is too high of a mark but its never impossible.

I personally think bitcoin will cross $30k this year, because of VARIOUS reasons.  

I would not say there is no chance, but instead say the chances are slim. The reason is that no one knows and we cannot because of now judge how things are going to be before the end of the year. Remembering how 2017 started when we kept having swings and lows, no one could have thought that bitcoin would even got to this particular value that we are calling a huge dip, so it is good to leave room for positive surprises.

There is a new dimension in play now which is alt coins like EOS etc which are gaining market cap. In some cases, they are pulling market cap out of BTC which is why BTC dominance has halved.

That said, BTC will go to $70,000 and beyond, but it needs the lightning network to come around so this slow transaction speed issue can be dealt with. So the real question now is not when will BTC become 70k but rather when will the lightning network get deployed.

well, that's a very confident prediction, but I think it's too high. reaching $ 30k price is already very satisfying for the year 2018. but maybe we still hope that this year bitcoin prices really reach the highest price.

I don't think getting $25k won't be that hard, but $70k is also hard for this year from my understanding.

It definitely needs lightning network, but the market may shoot up even without it. I personally find further growth justified only if we have lightning network operational, mainly because of the fact that it stimulates further adoption and further growth. If we in the coming weeks or months have more institutional investors coming on board, we might see another rally get initiated, and this time may even reach the $30k level. The million dollar question (literally) is when we will finally have lightning network operational -- some people behind the scenes with this information will make easy millions in profits, and I am sure they will use that information advantage.

If this were going to happen, big companies would start buying Bitcoin because now Bitcoin has a low price, and even the possibility of such a thing was enough to motivate Bitcoin.

It is doubtful that the market will be able to continue growing without Lightning Network activated. If we take Bitcoin as a basis cryptocurrency, its price has been hanging around $13-14k for over 2 weeks by now. If some negative news concerning LN comes out, that will most certainly send the prices down. So I'm skeptical about the market rising on its own, I think it is pretty exhausted now after all the hype and frenzy that we saw in November-December.

$70k might happen by the end of the year 2018, if a country makes an official entry into bitcoin community supporting it same as that of the traditional currency of their own country. This year along with bitcoin altcoins too will progress big making way for a large scale development on the cryptocurrency platform.

Yes i could see $40k or even be pushed to $50 but they have blown it now with miner fees and
trust in the currency has been destroyed not just for old "Gamblers" like me but new ones too wanting
to play the slot machines.

The name miner needs to be changed because the 20,000 miners mine few coins to earn a
living and have just become expensive middlemen and we certainly don't need 20,000 of
them working as a monopoly to milk us dry with $30 transaction fees just to store a mere
250 bytes of data on the block-chain.

Today the price of 70K looks pretty fantastic. And I still can not believe in this price. Rather, I will believe that the price of Bitcoin will rise to 20k.

It's possible to happen in my opinion. Bitcoin may reach $70K at end 2018. Only  patience will pin it. Because, I don't want to lose the moment as it has happened before.

Then why are people paying $12,000 a piece for it? Bitcoin is starting to become more like gold. Not used for transactions but as a store of value due to its limited supply.

It is hard to believe for now on that amount but yes there's a possibility but I think it takes a lot of days and months before it happen into crypto currency world.

That's right its very difficult to think of that high price at a moment and I don't think that it will be easy for bitcoins to achieve that huge price in this year and as you said that if everything goes fine and if we don't come across any bad news then anything around $25k to $30k is achievable by the end of the year but expecting too high would be foolishness and the waste of time so its good to believe in reality and accept it as dreaming out of the box can be painful if we don't see that price.
