Title: can someone review a small transaction I did on the blockchain
Post by: legend018 on December 22, 2017, 03:22:58 PM
Can someone review. I'm still fairly new and did a small btc transaction last night. I feel I paid a decent fee. It's normal right?

I sent it last night so it's been even longer. I basically sent $58 and paid $8 in fees.  Still pending. I'll just wait it out I guess.

You even paid a high fee: 8% of the amount you had! Unfortunately, you need a much higher (https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx) fee to get even close to a confirmation any time soon.
It's ridiculous, but you should have used about 30% of the amount you started with to get it confirmed any time soon! My advice it to wait it out, until fees get lower again, paying more only means miners get richer, while blocks are still full and we're all still waiting for confirmations.
