It is not even about finding every prime number. It is not about finding Mersenne Primes. It is about finding Cunningham chains. No-one else is doing this. It is useful. Primecoin isn't searching for Mersenne primes, it is searching for Cunningham chains, and it's broken many world records already. The utility of all primes is debatable, but remind me again what the utility of the SHA256 PoW algorithm is again? Oh right, nothing. The fact that its proof of work is different from all other cryptos alone makes it the #3 coin.
