Title: HP Power Supply Pinout Differences (1200/1400w) Post by: gt_addict on December 23, 2017, 12:27:22 AM So ive currently got a 1200w Platinum DPS-1200FB-A running with one of sidehacks breakout boards. But im looking at a 1400w HP Server psu (part number 720620-b21) and was wondering if the breakout board would work with it?

The 1400w is a Flex slot and obviously the 1200w is a Common Slot.

The CS use only 6 control pins and wider middle power planes, your pic shows 10 pins and middle power planes are narrower. Won't work without surgery and knowing if at least the DC_ON pins are the same location. Its too expensive to get one and try to figure out what the pinout is. Plus having to do the cheap method of soldering loads of wires on instead of a neat breakout board. I doubt they are widely available enough to persuade sidehack to make up a breakout board.

What does it take to figure out the pinout of something and get it working? Like the resistor across pins 33-36 to get the 1200w CS to switch on? |
