Title: Is it time to disrupt number formats?
Post by: drewcurry on December 23, 2017, 01:40:44 PM
hey folks, I am proposing a simple evolution of number formats that can greatly aid general consumption of displayed values in the crypto world.

If you have 2 minutes, can you review my thoughts and let me know if you agree or not?

I think the number of zeroes is the main problem, regardless of the format. Too many zeroes is confusing for us (since we're not accustomed to using it in our daily lives), so it would be great to not have that many zeroes any more. But I don't know how this could be done.

Setting a new format is not too difficult and i am sure some will agree that

0.000000660 is more challenging to manage than

0.000,000,660.

Hell, even writing that out caused me to stop and have to count, but it is *immediately* clear when commas are used.

This seems (at least to me) a natural progression of the usage of the comma.

I hope somebody with enough readership agrees and shares the idea.
