i am newb & want to know the best and safest way to keep collect btc .

There are two options to maintain all your funds safe;
1- A paper wallet, just print it without internet connection and write down a copy of your Private key

what's the safest online way to keep Bitcoin and other cryptos?

Right now I keep some in my mining pools. Because I am still waiting to figure out the new tax laws. It is connected with Coinbase but... yeesh it sounds like a taxable event everytime I touch it in there.

If it's in a physical device.. there is always the potential it could be stolen, or damaged etc...

One thought was to keep it churning in things like cloud mining contracts. Any thoughts?

Just buy your own hardwallet and you will be safe and you have the guarantee that you'll be able to keep it in the safest place. But if you don't have budget buying your own, you can have a paper wallet or if you have a laptop then you can download a desktop wallet and keep those bitcoins of yours in that wallet and just connect that wallet whenever you need it or you will send to an exchange.

Well as far as i know it is best to have bitcoin kept in a most reliable wallet. I am using the most popular in the country where i am in. It is very reliable and it is trusted by millions. I would recommend using hardware wallet but it would cost you too much but there's a alternative for a hardware wallet and that is the paper wallet. I prefer Hardware wallet over anything if the security is the issue but it cost you right because you need it for yourself. The mobile wallet is good too if you are a busy and travelling person but its prone to hacking. I don't like the idea of paper wallet because once its crumpled, wet or you lose it you will just say goodbye to your bitcoin.

I did not use offline wallet anymore because they have advantage of using this because it's veey safe but once you forget or reset your phone or device you will not able to open your account. Hardware wallets and offline wallets are indeed the best possible way in order for us to secure our bitcoins more safely but those methods are only dependable or applicable to the users that have lots of coins on their wallets. In mycase i do not use those methods because i did not ever experience to get scammed or hack ever since i started to use bitcoins and other cryptos.

I dont also own more than 0.01btc on my balance. I think the biggest amount of bitcoin that i hold is only 0.003 per week but i do also cash out it immediately.
