Scrypt, with a high 'r' variable (making it require 8mb RAM per hash).
Please note there is no mining pool software yet. Currently solo mining is feasible and rewarding (you may solve a block in seconds)

Super cool in theory but I wonder about the validity of a coin that costs 1.5% of the transaction to send, every time. It's hard to imagine this being much more than a curiosity. And for all but the tiniest amounts it would be cheaper to encrypt a privkey and email it, instead of use the RCoin blockchain.

there is no premine; currently we have an infinite supply, but because of increasing difficulty, that's unlikely.

What made you pick 1.5% for transaction fees?

I didn't want something too low to matter, but >2% seemed to high.
(The coin can be divided into thousandths (0.001) so anything too low wouldn't count)

Is the order to start mining

1) Run rcoind.exe, then run ipfs.exe?

I did it initially that way and it worked but now it's continuing to say "Waiting for ipfs to start. . .", and closing after 10ish more seconds, even when I click on ifps a few times over. Tried running the wallet first too

Why is the wallet so weird? Why not make it so you only have to click one app and it starts everything instead of 5 windows. It mines fast though after 1 minute 100 rcoin on ryzen 1800x. A nice start but super basic.

I get that errors sometimes to but what i do is close out of the windows. then launch the ipfs then the rcoind then the tkwallet and seems to work.

Run the daemon first them open the wallet.

When I launch the ipfs it closes instantly for me, with rcoind saying "Waiting for ipfs to start" over and over. Does it do that for you?

I mean i have 2000 but it does get stuck  and crash quite a bit and  seems like it runs like a pool you only get work sometimes.

After doing multiple tests i have concluded that for every block you have to send something to someone to get work. I have reproduced this about 90% of the time by sending 1 to random people. And have noticed it takes a while to get updated on the chain as well. Even though were only at 300's.

if you send big amount the reward is bigger than 25 rcn

and if you send and not get reward, you will get some coins only because you send.

for 6500 sent you get bonus 97.87 and not as block reward.
reward for that sum is 122.87

So it seems that you have to catch up to the current block in the command exe window. Is there something I can do so it stops crashing so damn much, I'm using windows... Also it seems like you get coins just for sending them back. I've sent them all back lmao, recieved a 100, and sent back, but that's okay ;;

If you're on windows start rcoind, then tkwallet to see what you have. Once it catches up to blocks it should start mining I think.
