Title: Sapphire Radeon 7950 blown capacitor
Post by: aoshea on July 28, 2013, 03:56:39 PM
Yesterday I restarted one card and i head a "puffft" noise and started to smell something burning. I powered off the psu, when i took a look at the card on of the capacitors I believe is blown off laying 45 degree angle to the board. I have to call newegg tomorrow because the card is only 2 months old. Frustrating

dual-x; 1075/1500; litecoin mining. The temps never got above 80, usually 72-78c.

dual-x doesn't have vrm monitoring, that's why i stay away from it
at least, that's how each of the 6 dual-x cards that my friend has are like

my vapor-x 7950 mines 24/7 since april and it's still alive
vrm 72 celsius, gpu core 69, 590kh/sec, power limit+11, 700mhz memclock (yes, 700), 1100 gpu clock, 1.150vddc

The dual-x is a piece of shit.
But it should not burn within 2 months, has to be some sort of a malfuction in the cap or low quality what you can expect with those cards...

Contact Sapphire RMA chances are if you are lucky you will have a replacement in 1.5 weeks to two.  Unless you happen to be lucky enough to be within 30 days of buying then contact company u bought from.
