Timing market is quite challenging and we already corrected a lot in last one week so I'm not converting my coins to USD instead I will hold them and if prices go future down then will buy some more. Worst case BTC can go down up to 10 to 9K level but I don't want to sell instead prefer to hold.

I don't trade much except on larger moves, so I wouldn't even think about moving crypto to fiat over the holidays. I'm fairly comfortable with holding crypto, otherwise I wouldn't have bought into it.

When I shift my position from crypto to fiat (or the other way round) I do this due to market events, not because of the calendar. Crypto never sleeps and I'm not going to change my position in fear of short term market movements. Especially not in fear of short term market movements. Never lose sight of the big picture :)

Real crypto traders takes no vacations.  8)

Kidding. I'd definitely look at the charts a  bit less until next year, I definitely need to get my head off crypto for a few days. I've set up some alarms via Blockfolio though, just so if certain coins I'm interested in drops in price, so I can grab some for cheap.

As i am living in Japan right now, NewYear is such a big holiday here. People going home, and most of the business are closed as well. But I would rather trade or hold in crypto, because that's the beauty of it, unlike the traditional financial service which all slow down in the holiday season.

I would rather abstain from investing into any cryptocurrnecy for the moment till the next year. The correction may continue in January.

Why not both. In December usually market bearish, buy the dip and invest. But in December there are many big update on alts, in there you can trading in the momentum.

I will keep doing that both trade and investment, it's the most important thing in my life in the real world, because they have given me many more and more advantages. I think it's very lucky if you can do that, for the needs of every day, even for the foreseeable future, it seems that many people are investing in bitcoin, so the price of bitcoin is higher than now.

I think trading does not stop and I will continue to take advantage of the situation whenever I can. We all know that price movements are unpredictable so we must always be ready to make decisions. Do not ever assume that Christmas and New Year can slip things up, everything goes as usual and we should have a higher spirits to be able to gain much greater profits.

I'm planning to hold my coins because I already spent most of my cash for gifts tomorrow and the price of bitcoin is slowly going up again. I cashed out last time bitcoin went on a dip and I regret it doing it. I might invest to some altcoin once I receive some btc from my signature campaign.

I think this is good time to invest because the price is cheaper because of less demand so you can grab your coins at this time and make more profits in new year. But trading maybe stopped because of less profit and the high transaction fee,if you still do trade at this time you get not enough profits.

Still trading and holding on because i have already used to this situation of being crushed from China ban, JP Morgan criticized bitcoin, forks, segwit and price corrections. We have survived all of these attempts before and we knew that still we will not regretting it in the end so life goes on for trading.

You are right, man. I trade crypto to FIAT only if something big is happening (but only for intention of shorting and not withdrawing).
This is market as you said "never sleeps", and it will grow a lot in the following years (even if it already grew during 2017. I'm sure that we will see big things coming :)
When I imagine this market during 2020-2030 decade, I'm thinking one word: WOW

Yes but seems like the market is not in a good shape but I will stay pay attention to the chart and try to make profit, I do hope the market can get better after Christmas, traders never have holiday, traders only get holiday when the market is too unpredictable or too stable

Of course, I would trade. Bitcoin price has been dropping and in this Christmas time, it would go down even further. So, I am planning to buy bitcoin and hold. I believe It would rise again in January 2018.

I have already cashed out some money last week to buy some gifts before the christmas night, so i am already prepared for that.

But yes, i haven't sold many bitcoins, it was less than 0.10, so i am fine with that.

I sold at a good price, i know that a lot of people were not able to sell aproximately at the all time high ($19,000 - $20,000) But i did, and i am glad of that.

But because it is christmas it doesnt mean that i am not going to trade, in fact i am going to do it doesnt matter what, the same as holding.. They are just holidays, nothing more than that.

Well I think as trader, you should not take to much break and focus on the movement of the price since it changes rapidly in every time. You don't to lose an single opportunity in buying and selling. Well that is what a trader's life is. Big income from a trade is a good gift for the holiday season.

Answers would vary on a certain person since some people would really take a break and enjoy the holidays and some still need to make both things and still trading and in my case im still doing trading now since i can able to ride on prices either on bitcoin or on alts which i would say profits would really matter for me no matter what would be the season approaches. 8)

I think less people as of now buy bitcoin most of us sell their bitcoin because they need money to buy foods and gifts snd for their godchildren .I think also why bitcoin price decrease because many people as of now don't want transact to bitcoin because the fee is very high. For sure the price of the bitcoin will increase more in the month of january 2018 after the holiday season.

I won't be withdrawing, the market is low right now and that's a good time to be investing, not withdrawing funds. I don't think I will trade quite so actively because of commitments etc but nothing to do with the market falling.

I have withdrawn some part of my investment for this season and I keep about 70% of my coins  for trading in 2018. I have also noticed a serious drop in price of bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies markets cap has dropped significantly and I believe that this is due to the activities around the world. People are withdrawing they coins to spend it in fiat and believe that after this celebration fund will flow back to cryptocurrencies. I think by January 18 to 19 we would have a serious pump in price of bitcoin and others majors coins.

I closed some of my open deals in USDT. But most of the positions I did not manage to close until December 20 and now I became an investor, I do not have much experience in day trading, so I decided to wait until the New Year's correction in the position and not fuss.

For serious traders there are no holidays, even Christmas, because the market is never sleeping.
And it's especialy active these days because some people are cashing out their coins in need for fiat funds, others are buying taking the opportunity of lower price. So this is not time to pause the trading, just the opposite.

yes that was right but may some when they choose to this field cause they wanted to have time with their family so i think that some are taking atleast the holidays not are an exception for them to still trade cause spending with your love ones while you are taking time in trading can do both it does not require a full time with your love ones if the situation are you always spend a lot of time with them even not holidays too.

I think trading will slow down during the holidays so I will mostly keep out of the crypto community. I might post some posts but mostly I will keep my buy orders as they are in the event something special should happen.

I don't think we can expect any news Pos/Neg coming from the world since most are on holiday and won't issue any statements for/against that will affect teh prices.

What I do think is that after New Years (unless some unexpected news comes up) we can expect a small surge in BitCoin and ALTs. I have mentioned this in other threads but that is because I think it is very much true: More people will come into the crypto space during the holidays! Now crypto investors are home telling their family how much they made in cryptos these last few months and might even show them how to create an account at CoinBase. Some will have received some "extra money" as presents, and why not invest it in the crypto world.

It doesnt take much money if there are a million new people starting to invest in the crypto community to give a real bounce to the evaluation. I think this will happen as people are getting their paychecks in Januari, they have their accounts set up and transfer a bit of their salary "just to try out" this new thing called cryptocurrencies.

So as long as we don't get any bad news after New Years I am execting us to break the 20k barrier pretty soon.

investing at these times is really good, i always want to take advantage of dips going on with many alts that has a lot of potential to pump later on after this holiday season. I still believe in cryptocurrency that is why there is no point of thinking it will keep on going even after this season which most of the people turn their crypto into fiat.

Why you so afraid about that? Do not you know that cryptocurrency is very volatile? For me, that is chance for us to buy coin and hold it for a while. It is because so many people sell their coin for celebrate the chrismas and new year. So the price of coin looks declining. I believe it will back to normal at midJanuary.

Holidays or not the price would still remain volatile no matter what which anytime on crypto would really be a good chance for us to purchase cheaper coins as long we do see opportunity then we should trade but its not really bad to take some break on holiday season and spend some precious moments on them just just have a stare on your trading account.Doing long or swing trades would be already just fine.

If it’s hobby for someone than this is meaningless question.

For professional traders who are trying to make a living out of this, you should atleast stay updated with the market as they release very important news during this time of the year.
Market is always open. Keep your eyes 👀 on it.

total market capitalization went down because bitcoin went down. and that is most of the market cap and also when bitcoin goes down altcoins go down faster than it and that causes the total market cap to go even lower.

the world doesn't shut down just because some countries are celebrating their new year. and as you can see bitcoin has been very active today and also so many altcoins have been getting pumped hard these days.

and since i am not on a holiday i will continue earning money from these pumps only if i can.

For some trading is more than a hobby or money ,it is fun and thrilling. You never want those kind of thrills to end.
I don’t think this trading is fun or some thrilling thing to do, no this is not the case. All such things that involve some kind of investments and money, they need the person as much intense and concerned. If you take this like an entertainment purpose, you will be ending within little time. Keep yourself updated with the price fluctuations and be serious with financial thing.

Our opinions won't be important but since christmas is very popular and then upcoming new year, I think it's time when high percent of traders rest because almost everyone has family. Personally I would invest small now because this high price (which lasts very long however) makes me to think that it will fall. Don't risk much these days...

I'm already not trade from Nov 2017, I change my style from trade become invest. From Feb until Nov, I still trade to collect fund but after that invest become my option. I did this from 2016 and still work, meaning I got income. Beside that, Christmas and new year is " family time ". Never miss those moment to bring happiness into our family. Come back again in Feb 2018 and make profit again. Good luck to you.

Trading does has a definite effect of festivals,In festivals you can expect some drastic change and trading is most active during festivals time. There have some real good performance in last week by crypto, specially alts.Ethereum and Monero were stand out for me and I have invested in them.Even small coins like XRB,Dash have done well.So people would buy for long and short span.

Hi Guys
From one week ago, i saw the marketcap is decrease..So i would like to know your opinion that you are still trading or investing crypto currency in this time (Christmas time, new year time)...or you will withdraw cryto currency to usd and come back in Jan 2018.

Thanks so much
I also noticed the decrease of value these past few weeks and maybe most of us are thinking if it’s right to stay with trading or investing crypto currency this time. I came up with the idea of holding our coins for a while because dropping of value happened before due to hardfork, month of August. However, the bitcoin still overcome and proved its potential of increasing its value this past month of November. Let's be optimistic that decreasing of value is just a challenge for bitcoin and other alternatives. Fighting!

No. I sell but im just waiting again for the right time to buy.  .as now the price is decreasing i have doubts maybe this is not the right time to buy cause when it goes up suddenly it always fluctuated maybe after year end when the bitcoin become stable. Cause its to risky to decide nowadays.

In this christmas and new year eve time, i wouldnt trade my bitcoin into usd or other coin to make profit. Because in my opinion, it is a high season time of holidays, it will impact market in any way. And my prediction is right, now the transaction fees are so high and the speed of transaction is so slow. Even the amount of transaction is so high.
But i didnt predict that the price will be decreasing this much, if i know it will decrease this much, the better option is to sell at the highest point before the price start declining and then buy more bitcoin when the price is low just like this time.
So, back to the best thing to do right now (because missed the opportunity), holding.

Usually I step aside  in trading during Christmas and new year period due to low volatility, usually at this particular time of the year the market liquidity is low, market is at the lowest peak, this has been affecting the price of bitcoin because of dumping and exchanging btc to fiat and this is also happen in spot forex, after holidays the market will pick up then  trading mode will be activated.

I think this holiday season is a perfect opportunity to invest in cryptos while many are converting their coins into fiat because people will be needing so much money which will surely result to the value of cryptos to drops which is a good time to invest and trade, for sure after this holiday season the value of many cryptos will appreciate again and holding them will give a good profit in the coming years

You can choose to keep your investment retained or change it to a currency that is rising, the important thing is that you do not lose your investment because you are in a hurry, do not despair the bearish market is a good opportunity to continue investing.

Yes, I'm still actively trading these days. December 2017 has been an exciting time for cryptocurrency and I can't miss it. It's like once every several years where Bitcoin and altcoins are drastically rising together. Gotta stack some more profit before the bear trend begin :P

It seems to me, that closer to new year traders and funds cash out , summing up whole the year past. It is expexted to see low volatility and slow movements.

I hodl too; and I just buy some tiny bits of after top 20 in coin market cap coins which are too cheap the moment. It is good to relax now because after New Year I feel the hurricane of bitcoin ups and downs is to come :):):)

Trading doesn't have a vacation if you don't let your self a break. It's depend on your decision because you're not working for anyone.

Actually, i don't think it is the right time to invest now on Christmas and new year time because all the people will be selling their most of the stocks and coins which they would have bought previously in order to celebrate the festival and for buying the gifts just I did this Christmas. In fact, the decrease in the marketplace also tells us the same thing that the deeper correction which has occurred right now in the crypto market is due to Christmas holiday and new year festival. People and even professional traders used to take some time of break from trading during the Christmas and new year function in order to Enjoy and get rid off the Mental stress of trading and in fact, the break is needed for everyone.

No. It made me lost about 30% my budget when panic sell. In next year, I will hodl and do not care anything. Do not tell the lie to me

I don't see any reason why should I withdraw all my trading funds just because of holiday season.

You know anyone can take a break from trading because of celebration purposes but it doesn't mean you will have to pullout your funds. You can take a break while your trading funds are still on hand but you have to accept that you will ignore those pumps and dumps. I did some break not just in trading but in crypto this recent Christmas because hey, money can earn as long as we want. But of course, Im still updated with my portfolios as no doubt we have lots of apps to rely on during our break.

Then the day after, I don't see much changes at my portfolio so again, Im back to the ball game.

When you want to withdraw and invest in cryptos once again, it is a lot of work to do and in my country it may cause problems so personally I would leave my investment also in new year and Christmas eve

I have suspend every thing about trading till next year and I thing many traders are doing the same thing as it has shown in the market cap and volume of trade across most of the major trading platform. This time has never be the best time to trade for me and I have see that this is a celebration time and time for one to plan for next year and for one to strategies for next year.

Really a big decrease was experience this holiday season and I don't think many will be encourage to trade or invest at this moment though some thinks this is an opportunity to make some sort of investment others maybe afraid that holding will only put their money into so much risk. As now I didn't trade or invest but I'm still keeping whatever bitcoin I have in my wallet just in case the price pump again

the decline of these days is physiological and I do not think it is due to the holidays.
so if you have patience wait and see that the btc will come back to climb to a new high-all time record

To be honest, I never tried trading before but i have knowledge about this process because I read some articles about the pros and cons of it. Investing is safer than trading. I know you notice that dropping value of bitcoin is happening and still continuously happening as of now and for sure you want to know behind the reason about it. I really don't know about their strategies because I read before that they lose money due to the falling value of btc but other said that giving up is not good. Losing is part of trading process.

most investors are attracting crypto investments as they enter christmas and new year, they use it for celebration. and to this day still looks a large sales order, and in my opinion when entering 2018 we must immediately make an investment before the price back high
