Title: Coinbase.com $5 difference in exchange rate when paying invoice Post by: Moebius327 on July 29, 2013, 02:45:20 PM Paid an invoice issued trough coinbase for $290 yesterday and didn't notice the weird exchange rate $92/BTC. I sent 3.1394349 BTC . Several minutes after transaction completed I noticed the low exchange rate and refreshed the invoce and now their exchange rate was $97 (2.98BTC for the invoice).

Their exchange rates fluctuate alot, they even fluctuate depending on how many coins your selling (for exmaple if you put in 50 coins to sell vs 1 the price will be different. No issues on my end with coinbase, I like the people behind it, the platform, and the fact that they are trying to get registered in all 48 states that require it. Coinbase provides an excellent service, and as they are a young startup they cannot provide much support.

I paid the invoice using the worst exchange rate. Unfortunately I am not using coinbase until I get more information about their fluctuating exchange rate. 5$ exchange difference within 6-7 minutes for the same invoice is simply unacceptable. bitstamp & btc-e usually are less exchange rate than gox... perhaps this is why. |
