if we say from 12,000$ to 96,000$ we need 3 years.

IMO this wouldn't happen in 2018. I would be happy to see a total price recovering and 20K again in next 6 months. If we see 40K, I will be utter happy, but 9x is too much for current markets.

20K again in six months?I think it could recover back to 20K USD for a few weeks.
The price is going up slowly and i hear rumors that the Segiwt2x fork is going to launch this week.
Usually big forks like this one will pump again bitcoin,because lots of people want forked altcoins for free.
The OP is wrong.It`s impossible for the bitcoin price to increase 8 times for one month.This would be an insane speculation bubble.  

If the prices increase by 8x once more, then the exchange rates will be close to $120,000 per coin, and the market cap will be around $3 trillion. Is that even possible? Right now there is no company listed in the stock markets around the world, that is worth $3 trillion or even half of that amount. And it represents almost 40% of the gold market capitalization.

I don't think it will happen across the whole of 2018, let alone within one month only. Bitcoins price is far higher than it was in 2013 and so to experience that level of growth is much much more unlikely.

I don't think you will have and accurate month when bitcoin will increase in 8x and we are not even sure if bitcoin will grow in2018 to that level.Bitcoin has not been doing well in January to March if you view historical data especially 2016 and 2017! Therefore we should not expect serious price increases in those times 2018. If what happened in 2017 repeating itself then we would have serious price upward movement from September to November 2018. Hope we have a fruitful 2018

What you're asking is unpredictable like an earthquake. I know it may happen but don't know when....? 

Maybe everyone hoped "Bitcoin price increase by eight times" but that is unlikely to happen in 2018.


It is true what you say and everyone knows this is an unpredictable condition. Still, we can hope for the best.

Nah, it wont increase eight times during the next year, i really think that the price will be much more stable than what it was during this year, this year was chaotic for the price, well, we all liked that, but it wont be repeated again

I'm pretty sure there is no hard upper limit. In other words: it's possible, especially in a hype.
I do worry about sustaining it though! Currently, Bitcoin has only 12 million (https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html) addresses holding more than 0.001BTC. Anything less isn't worth the fee to spend it. Most people use at least a few addresses, so that leaves at most a few million Bitcoin holders/users.
Miners take about $30-40 million per day in block reward and fees. That's money leaving the Bitcoin ecosystem. The trade volume (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/) is about $10 billion per day. Even at 0.25% fee on exchanges, the exchanges take $25 million per day.
Miners and exchanges together take about $60 million per day out of Bitcoin! Divide that by a few million users, and it's (give or take) $10 per person per day. That's $300 per month, and that money has to come from somewhere.
This $300 per user is a substantial drain of funds that enter Bitcoin and are taken out again, and it has to be a continuous supply just to sustain the current price and trade volume.
A price increase needs an even bigger inflow of money. To sustain this, Bitcoin needs more users, but blocks are too full already.
If Bitcoin were to double (or more), miners and exchanges take a larger share too, so even more money is needed to sustain that price level.

Note that this $300 per month is an estimate, it doesn't really matter if it's $100 or $1000, my point is still the same: a continuous inflow of dollars is needed to sustain Bitcoin.
The total for all cryptocurrencies is even bigger: miners and exchanges take their share there too.

As far as I know, that's a fake SegWit2x fork, aka a scam.

I don't think we will ever see such growth as this year ever again. It is natural that as the price gets higher and bitcoin becomes older that growth will slow down If we can reach 50k in 2018 that would be a very good year and exceed my expectations and hopes.

I will be glad if it will reach 20k. increase by eight times is far fetched, maybe it will take two or three years.
Someone can say that Bitcoin price expanded 18 times in 2017, well, that is true, but 1.000$ is not 14.000$ and governments will not be as tolerant as they are now.
That will happen only if big companies like Google and Microsoft pour their money in the cryptocurrency market (what are the chances for this to happen).

It is too hard to predict, I dont think it can multiply that much anymore since the price is already very high, you are talking about 100k, I dont think that could happen in a year, now people also invest in alt coin, so I dont expect bitcoin could multiply again like in 2017, I assume in 2018 the max we can reach is 50k to 60k

Probably by March it might have a highest rate for bitcoin double. The more people realize or curious they are, the demand of bitcoin might increase, high demand, high price for crypto currency. Forecasting it on March or April can be realistic trend for bitcoin.

I don't see it going higher than $25k. Reason being it has hit a price point where it has gone mostly out of reach for most people, drying up new investment money. Now most people are buying small chunks of BTC to buy other coins.

bitcoin eight times increase in 2018? I hope it will not happen because if that happens then the transaction fees are insane I can not send small amount of bitcoin.

I think that it will not happen, up to 8 times less than a year then it is impossible, as a worth currency unit, the increase or decrease will happen slowly but not increase such extraordinary sudden. That absurdity just happens in your dreams  :D

although I don't know what month in 2018 bitcoin will increase but I think we can see bitcoin increase in early of January 2018 and after that, maybe there are any correction price will happen like usual. but if bitcoin increase by eight times, I don't think that this will happen in short of time because we still need more months to see this happens.

It wont happen you need to understand that as the market cap gets bigger the more difficult is to increase in terms of percentage, bitcoin in a way is like a person, when you are young like a baby your growth is very fast, most babies are born with something like 7 to 9 pounds and it is not rare for the baby to double its weight in just a few months but once that baby develops into a kid its growth becomes slower until it reaches full maturity and does not grow anymore.

I don't know if we'll ever see 8x growth again. It would probably be easier to find 8x growth in altcoins, the stock market or other investments than in bitcoin. That could be yet another reason behind the recent decline. Right now the main cause holding back the price of btc could be linked to transfer fees. There may be concern that bitcoin's network capacity may be too low to support significant growth. There's a question of how that issue might be factored into the overall value of bitcoin.

The same in here, i think that the price will go at least to $40k during the next year, but not more than that.

A lot of people are saying that it will climb to one million, 100k, or so, but i dont think that it will happen, only because the market has already increased by more than 100 times in less than five years.

And eight times in a year? I dont think so.. the price would clearly go to more than 160k if it increase by eight times.

Nothing is impossible since we  are experience it a lot this year and another pump for a higher value of bitcoin price this coming 2018. Lets see the price of bitcoin what will be the value of it when it enters into 2018. I'm really excited earn more and have millions thru bitcoin.

Nothing is impossible however that does not mean that is likely, do you really expect the price of bitcoin to skyrocket 8 times in a single month, bitcoin is not going to go up 8 times in the next year, the amount of money needed for that kind of growth is enormous, I like the idea of making money with bitcoin as much as anyone else but we need to keep our feet on the ground.

Yes.Our predictions should be realistic to some extent.Its true that most of us are excited to see the bitcoin outcome in this year.I hope that bitcoin would once again regain its ATH price of this year $20,000.If the issue of high transaction fee gets solved in 2018 by activation of lightning network,then definitely it would be a great year for both bitcoin and its users.

Yeah I would love to have great profits in this year like what we got in the previous but we need to be careful, just because the past year was great that does not mean that this year is going to be great as well, in fact I would like for bitcoin to slow down a little so it give to us chance to save some money and buy at the current prices but I know that is not very likely.

You are right even though we do see year 2017 was really a good year for bitcoin but we cant really be sure on what would be the thing on this new year of 2018.We dont even know if it would go up even further on this year or we would go back into recent prices on previous years but most likely its hard to believe on rolling back but possibilities is always there.Talking on increasing 8x on bitcoins price is really impossible talking 15k usd x 8 = 120k usd/bitcoin. Might be possible but would really takes many years.

Frankly, I can't believe the price will go up as much as 8x in 2018. But i just believe in my own prediction, that bitcoin will reached a record-high price of US $ 25000 ~ US $ 28000 in of 2018, and prices are last increasing again after August 2018.

Eight times I'm not sure it will happen again or not. But I know nothing is impossible in Bitcoin. I hope it will happen again, if happen again, I choose in December 2018 the price will higher. But let's see what will happen!

agreed and based on last year's growth most pumps happen from continues months not in a single month alone, and getting x8 will be a bit harder and might be impossible to happen because of its price that is too much expensive already.

Bitcoin has reached a huge market cap and increase a eight times on its price it means a eight times higher market cap which will take the attention of many.

It could increase due to the media it's getting due to the high price. But main reason for the high price in 2017 was due to the forks.

I personally would like for it to stay stable, so that I could accumulate more. Even if I had 1,000 Bitcoins, I would want to accumulate more.

8x increase for 2018? That seem to be unrealistic as the market cap of bitcoin is already high and before it's the most popular coin even until now. But for now, there are too many competition for the coins that can be used just like bitcoin. But if the price of bitcoin will be more than 8x then it can happen but a little by little not by instant.
