Title: Cooling Antminer S9 Post by: Maus44 on December 25, 2017, 05:11:42 PM Right now it is winter where I live. I am running my antminer is the basement, and I would like to figure out a way how to cool it using the cold winter air from outside.
currently my miner is operating at 70/66/69 C. I have a window in my basement, I was thinking of using ducting going from the window to the front of the antminer, another duct running from the back of the antminer to an inline fan. Im running S9, L3+ and D3 with "tubes" attached to fans sucking air from the outside. It was running same temps as yours, the worst thing is, when i attached pipe to blow the hot air outside, temps was almost the same! I dont kniw how the S9 ans D3 can be cooled in the summer... The S9 produces about ~220CFM of exhaust, so as long as that inline fan has a rating of greater than that and so does your ducting you should be fine. Depending on the number of bends and material used you may need another fan in the front as well. Do you have a window open or some other air movement in the room to facilitate airflow? If it is just exhausting out the window you won't see much of a temp drop if it continues to draw from the same flow of air. Title: Re: Cooling Antminer S9 Post by: Maus44 on December 25, 2017, 11:59:05 PM so I opened my basement windows. right now it is -2.8C out, I have one fan pointing down from a window to the miner, which has another fan pushing the cool air into the intake from about 1 foot away. it is still running at 69/64/66C
Title: Re: Cooling Antminer S9 Post by: Didley1JT on December 26, 2017, 12:19:36 AM so I opened my basement windows. right now it is -2.8C out, I have one fan pointing down from a window to the miner, which has another fan pushing the cool air into the intake from about 1 foot away. it is still running at 69/64/66C Try blowing the air out, not in. You may not be providing enough exhaust area if you're only blowing air in and then letting the air exhaust under a door or something. CFM In needs to be fairly close to the CFM Out.
