Title: ethereum wallet
Post by: ratiobitcoin on December 25, 2017, 08:01:33 PM
its my first time using the ethereum wallet. i'm using the one i got from the ethereum project org website.

first thing i noticed was the ability to create a new wallet contract. do i need to create a new wallet contract to recieve eth? what benefits does a single owner wallet contract give me. do i have to set it up or can i use ethereum without this wallet contract?

MyEtherWallet.com is the industry wallet that is most widely accepted. You can create an address there and use it to access it. Follow diligently the tips on the website. Everything you need is there.

Try MEW (myetherwallet) it's the most used site for creating ethereum wallet addresses. You can make your public addresses as your receiving address for tokens and ether.

The wallets in ethereum.org are downloadable wallets. On the other hand, myetherwallet is an online wallet you can use to receive and send ethereum. The nice thing is that you can even use it to transfer your wallet's "private keys" (your wallet password) into other wallets in the future.

Good job getting into Ethereum. You will surely earn a lot when its value rises.

Myetherwallet (MEW) has a lot of advantages. It is easy to use, does not store your private keys, and it has the best support for new tokens.

Most of bounty program requires MEW to give their stakes in the campaign. As of now, that is the use.of MEW to me but I think also that most of the altcoin are supported by MEW than bitcoin. I just noticed it. Well, I think that MyEtherWallet is trusted wallet than other, it has quality features and it is spread worldwide. You can also see the warning of MEW to unable you to go to phishing sites. Check first the url before you go to avoid getting scammed.

If you want to be safe, you can create an eth wallet on the official website www.myetherwallet.com save private key and other backup files. I think it's safer, than you are using a wallet from a third party.

You don't need to create a contract to start using Ethereum wallet, you can create Ethereum address and get a private key to start using it immediately. Thanks

MyEtherWallet is the favoured option for most ETH and ERC-20 token holders. You keep the funds on your own device without having the hassle of downloading the entire blockchain. If you want extra security you can use it with a harware wallet such as Trezor.

I prefer myetherwallet for my ETH, just because it is so easy to create and operate. Beside it is widely accepted as the official  one for ETH.

I don't understand how people can say this. I get that MEW has been highly trustworthy so far but I'm coming from Mist where I have to upload my existing JSON key file and enter my private key password to a web server. Why are you all so sure that those details are not being captured and saved on web server disk somewhere and/or being re-routed for some big cash grab some day? I'm playing devils advocate here, of course.

Myetherwallet is your mailbox. There is an address that everybody knows to be able to send you some mail (it's the public address).
And there is a key to open your mailbox and read the mails. It's your private key that you are the only one to have.

If you want to receive some transaction, just give to the person, your public address (0x.....).
If you want to make transaction, you'll have to enter your private key or your key+password.
As simple as that.

Keystore/json file + metamask google chrome extension is the perfect combination ive been using it for about a year.

There are plenty ETH wallets, but still the best of them is MyEtherWallet.com. It's a really the best wallet I ever seen and used. I keep all my ETH and ERC20 tokens at Ledger Nano S and manage them using MEW.

so many wallets are existing for Ethereum
but i prefer for you MyEtherWallet (MEW)
and Metamask.
but always take care and store well your Private key.
because many scammers create a fake MEW sites just to get your Private key and
take aall your coins..
thats why you need to Bookmark MEW

If you want to safely store your eth tokens i would recommend using MEW because you have your own private key and the risk being hacked is impossible
