Title: quick question about powering risers in a 2 PSU rig
Post by: zorack on December 26, 2017, 07:58:12 AM
whats up guys
I dont want to take your time so I will be brief:
Im building a 6 gpu rig with 2 psus. Is it true that If I dont use my primary psu (the one Im using to power motherboard and cpu) to power all my riser adapters I might damage my motherboard PCIE slots or even my gpu or psu? I didnt take that information into account when choosing my power supplies and now Im worried that my primary psu might be way too close to 100% load when powering all 6 risers in this rig  :-\

well there has been so much debate on this
some have done with splitting the risers equally and never had any issues
some have done with powering all risers with primary psu and told positive results
i have most of my set up with dual psu
and i power all risers with primary psu and never faced any issues in seven months
moreover you can swap your big psu for primary and small psu for powering remaining gpus
it will work

on a 2 PSU rig, i power the GPU's from the same PSU as i power their risers keeping voltage frequencies in synch thus having no probs

dont use SATA connections for the risers
