Title: Need Help - Paper Wallet trying to Redeem Forked Bitcoins
Post by: get365money on December 26, 2017, 10:04:13 AM
1 Bitcoin sent to paper wallet in July, have not moved since.

Does this entitle me to 1 of each forked coins since July?

To redeem forked coins do I:

First send bitcoin to new bitcoin address. I was thinking importing into blockchain.info and sending out to GDAX.

Second use Electrum or Electron wallet to import bitcoin cash?

Will the paper wallet now have 1 of each coin minus bitcoin and bitcoin cash?

And if I move my bitcoin to an exchange to trade will I lose out on all future forks of bitcoin? Is this something to worry about?

Can I repeat the process of redeeming other forks with the paper wallet private key?

Do I have to wait for a certain number of confirmation each time I try to redeem a coin?

Any help with this or other things I should be made aware of would be greatly appreciated. I have searched a lot for this info and haven’t found anything that has made me feel safe going through with the process yet.

Thanks!

First, I will make a few assumptions of your real intentions:
- you know how to create and deposit to your paperwallet
- you still want to keep 1 BTC safely in a cold storage
- you simply want to claim your share on the fork chains and exchange to BTC

What I would suggest you to do:
1. move your 1 BTC to another new paperwallet,
if you want to keep it stay at 1 BTC, you have to combine/add another input in th tx
2. you could use bc.info or BCH wallet and send to exchange, bc.info only support BCH at the moment
3. do the same for BTG or other fork coins and send to exchange
yes... you can repeat the redeem process on all fork chains
4. exchange them to BTC and withdraw to your paperwallet or any address you want
5. your original BTC+more will be safe in new paperwallet and will be eligible for future forks 8)
just a small note here, try to find a trusted exchange that support all (/most) those fork coins
it would save you good amount of withdrawal fee ;)
