Title: New project - whitepaper or code first?
Post by: Slava79 on December 27, 2017, 08:28:14 AM
In the case a new project is developed, what is more important in terms of success, user adoption - a good whitepaper, marketing and ICO, or something working on github? I understand that probably both, but let's assume someone has limited resources.

I would say both but more for whitepaper. I dont want to seem rude but for any new project the github code is important but so is the whitepaper. Also some people dont want to know if there is a github repository or not. They want to read the whitepaper and decide whether its good for them or not.

I can understand you have limited resources and would suggest you to look into the "services" section for hiring a writer for your whitepaper. Many people are willing to do this even for small amount of btc while you can work on your code.

Good luck on your project.

It's both important. However, if you want to have the support of the community, you must have a whitepaper, first. Whitepaper somewhat serves as a proposal of your project and it contains all the essential and necessary information needed to know by the community' its roadmap, its goal and mission, as well as its description. This is the means on how they can judge your project and how they will assess whether they will support it or not. A good and well-written white paper mostly gains a lot of supporter.

It doesn't matter which two will be first than the other, you can do both or one at a time then you're going to release it in public together whether it's an alpha or beta. In order people will not think it's a scam, ponzi scheme or whatever.

Good ICOs supposedly or must be have good, or beyond enough resources because if you're just want to be rich quick buy creating new cryptocurrency without high end company backup then me personally cannot put my trust on your project..
Resources should not be the main issue but the effectiveness and your project should be competitive.

If you invest serious, You should read whitepaper, and with your team check code. Do not lost your money. Do not follow any community. This is my experience.

first thing that is needed is a useful product.
so far the new projects are all some abstract idea and will remain just that until the end of their lives. they never produce anything, never get adopted anywhere and have no usage.

the project may as well don't have any whitepaper! a paper  doesn't do anything for the coin!

of course you are talking about "success" and that can have a lot of different meanings. it may be the usual thing where a token gains some value while getting pumped. in which case none of these matter. the only important things are : advertisement and good pumping team. nothing else.

I like when a project has a strong and reliable team and some alpha which is already released. Plus a great concept and usecase. Mostly it's enough for me to make a positive decision.

For me the most important thing is code because it shows the team seriousness in the project itself and it can be one of the important point to attract potential investors. Most of the icos only have whitepaper and it takes a lot of time until they have the platform ready.

Code should be the first for the expert, but if you can't understand about that and it seems the whitepaper can be considered as another important thing too. To consider about how the business plan that already explained in the whitepaper. But code is everything right now. You can tell someone who understood about that to make analyze to the code.

All of your mentioned. Just one little off and no matter all the other perfect, you could still fail.

And what resources do you need on white paper? If you have a good technical tool, you are happy to describe its work independently, you do not need to invent anything.

A working product and a good marketing staff. These are all you need to make it bubble.

I think you should have the code first. Code is the basic thing you have to make then the second thing gonna be white paper.

That's correct, the Alpha version of the code at least + Good looking website + some community already + WhitePaper. This is already 50% of success!

If your working on new project, remember that there is huge competition out there so you should prepare really well, before you make official announcement. People have become very strict and cautious so they check everything before they invest. So be patient and lunch your project when you have everything ready, code on github, whitepaper and website.
