Title: Super low power Raspberry Pi Mining Rig 17Watt w/1 ASIC Block Eruptor, More soon
Post by: bondfire on July 31, 2013, 08:42:46 PM
Equipment:
  • Raspberry Pi Model B (http://www.microcenter.com/product/414588/Raspberry_Pi_Model_B (http://www.microcenter.com/product/414588/Raspberry_Pi_Model_B))
  • Micro USB Cable
  • Spare iPhone Charger Block
  • 4GB SD Card with Rasbian installed
  • 1x D-Link 7 Port USB Hub - DUB-H7 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00008VFAF (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00008VFAF)) (One more on order)
  • ARCTIC Breeze Mobile USB-Powered Fan (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XN24GY (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XN24GY))
  • Kill-a-watt Power Monitor (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00009MDBU (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00009MDBU))
  • 1x ASIC USB Block Eruptor (10 more on order)
  • HDMI Cable
  • Existing Samsung 32" TV as Display

With the list above, and the help of this tutorial (http://learn.adafruit.com/piminer-raspberry-pi-bitcoin-miner/initial-setup-and-assembly), I was able to put together a super low power mining rig.

I skipped the step where it has a built in LCD display and just used HDMI to the spare TV I had.  Runs really well at only 17 watts.  My current power cost is $0.1045/kWh, which comes out to 17*24/1000 = 0.336 * $0.1045 = $0.035/day! (Given that the monitor is turned off)

I'll update once I get the second hub and 10 extra block eruptors setup.

Will be doing the same soon. Have ordered my Raspberry Pi and five Eruptors.
My first entrance into the mining world, hoping it will be a good learning experience.

Seems like a pretty solid way to get started in mining.

Very nice job on this and thank you for posting, OP.
