How will this effect Primecoin mining?
Is it becoming profitable to pool mine?

Post your thoughts about Ypool.

My though is that I'm mining in ypool and I enjoy raking in the dough. I've gotten about 20 XPM in the last two days mining on my desktop and my laptop, no VPS.

I think the pool is great, I had no luck solo mining for 6 days, so I went pool.  Up to 31.5 XPM and counting :D

Me too! I had no luck soloing for 4-5 Days and with all my machines pointed to ypool I have been earning about a block every day.

I pointed an i7 3770k processor at ypool for three days and got just under three XPM for it, maxing out the processor the entire time. For the people that are actually making money off of ypool, what kind of computing power are you throwing at it to make more than one xpm per day (which is kind of low)?

Thanks

I have a total of about 20 cores across a couple machines, so really nothing that impressive. The key is the mining software, ypool has their own miner and the community has put out several improved versions. In particular, I am using mumus v4 miner here:

Thanks :). Hopefully I'll be able to make more than 1 XPM per day on ypool :(

Yeah I guess I should say I have about 10-12 computers with about 30 cores between all of them pointed at ypool. Same amount of PCs got me ~700XPM during the first week and half but then none of them found a block for 4-5 days so I switched them over.

1) what software are you using?
2) what settings have you changed?

I'm getting 6-8 per day running 4 systems (equiv to ~3 i5 2400's).  I'm getting around .029-.035 per round, there's a guy on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=257623.100 who's running a 3770 also, and he says .017-.029 per block.  I'd estimate he's getting 4-6.

Ypool would be great if I could actually get their miner to work  :'(

I recently switched an i7 from pool mining to solo mining. Will post if I find a block.

If you are talking about the miner then yes it is.

It seems like the new share system has increased total number of blocks by 7%

Understandable.  People are forced to go for the big chains instead of stealing XPM by flooding the pool with the smallest ones.

yPool makes me sad because of my luck, so I've gone back to solo mining.
I've mined about 18 XPM from yPool, but in that time I minted SIX BLOCKS.  Had I been mining solo, I would have walked out with 60+ XPM.

So yeah, I'm sticking with solo mining + VPS.
Besides, you can still pool mine with VPS if it comes down to it.

I have solved 51 blocks on ypool, and have gotten ~500 XPM mining with the pool. Solo mining can be "slightly" advantageous if you are lucky.
