Title: High fee due many inputs...
Post by: realstyla on December 28, 2017, 11:07:51 AM
Hey there..

i have an old wallet I used back than to get small amounts of satoshis frequently...

Now I saved up almost 0.019 BTC but so far I had no luck sending the amount somewhere else...
The fee is higher than the balance itself..

Not sure what to do. Is there any way to get some of it at least

thanks in advance

Maybe hold on and wait for the Lightning Network?

Which address(es) did you use? With that information we can see how small your inputs are.

Maybe hold on and wait for the Lightning Network?
Lightning Network is not going to help, you'll still need to make a transaction to fund a channel.

The only option you really have is try to sweep it into one adress, using atleast 5-10 satoshi per byte, and then accelerate it using a pool such as https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/, however, this is quite tricky since

A. viabtc might not accept your tx if your fee is too low.

or
B. ViaBTC has already reached the free 100 accelerations per hour, which means you will need to wait till the next hour.

The ViaBTC accelerator requires more than 10 sat/byte fee to be accepted.

I would just send it with a very low fee 5 bytes/sat or maybe even 2 or 3 and then just wait it out. Previous experience of when the network has been this congested has been followed by a period when it has cleared out again. You may need to rebroadcast the transaction every so often.

thx for the replies..

i tried sending it 3x times already.. tried it the whole month without any luck.

so u think the 5 bytes/sat can make it? how long should i wait when i send it?

I do think it will make it eventually but I cannot say when.

This site has a nice visualisation of the mempool

You can see after the peak in May to July it went back to normal for a while. I'd think it will do the same again and if I was in your position with lots of small inputs I'd wait it out until a better time.

So one of your outgoing transactions is this one (https://blockchain.info/tx/38f79b6a276f436acc071671b6aa2aaac5edead92b79f2c2f511e411f71f6448). At 61 satoshi/byte you can use ViaBTC's accelerator (https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/), but I'm not sure if they also accelerate transactions above 10kB. You paid almost $100 in fees anyway, so you can try at exactly 1 second past every hour.
If they say it's added to their queue, it should confirm. If it doesn't confirm after that, you can try the same with a smaller transaction (consolidate less inputs at a time).
