Consider yourself lucky if your loss is that minimal.  Many people have lost over 50% of their bitcoins during the bear market runs.  Many people have made money by throwing additional bitcoins at the bloody battlefields and when the market starts to recover, they see the immediate profits.

There's a separate "bounties" section of this forum.  You can find it here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0  Look into the project carefully before signing up for the campaigns.  If the project ends up being a scam, you will not be paid for your services.  Try to also find a signature campaign that does not have too many participants.  Your payments will be much higher.

On the beginning I was trading a lot of cryptos, but then couple of time lost because of BTC growth, as subG mentioned, 10% is nothing.

Now i trade/invest mostly (if not only) in fiat/crypto main pairs so BTC/[USD,EUR,GBP,whatever], ETH[USD/EUR/GBP].

If you're holding money in xxx coin and btc will have one of these big jumps you might be in quite a loss, just be sure to use stop limit sells to protect your capital, especially when trading small cryptos!
Stop limits is what converts your 'action' to 'trading' and not 'gambling'.

I have mostly positive experience with altcoins. There has been some on which I lost a little bit of money but few excellent ones like Cardano and Verge bought just before the price jumps have more than made up for it :)

My altcoins experience is something excited because I joined Clout bounty campaign in the first round. Some of the participants or maybe investors accused Clout as a scam. Cloud postpone the first round then they pay the participants who joined. To mmake the story short clout open the round Two because they are not scam. Round Two is on going.

I have 10 coins on my wallet and one of them gives me unimaginable amount figure like $100,000 in just a couple of months after I receive the tokens from Oyster signature bounty campaign.
It really feels like the luckiest guy in the world having this kind of figure of money.

I analyze the chart and background before taking . If the coin is on the bottom and has prospects ,then definitely it will grow back ,maybe not soon . But if you have a good background then definitely she will go to growth

You can learn about what other people/investors are doing by looking at the top voted ICOs.
Sites like https://cryptorated.com/ico-request-pipeline/ (https://cryptorated.com/ico-request-pipeline/) have a great ICO pipeline.

Which coins do you have and you plan to buy more? According to my experience, you can hold more kinds of altcoin to reduce the risk since several coins may drop or grow at different time.

I have no problem with my altcoin. Since I was newbie i just joined with much bounty. I just collect all of it. And when i start to sell my token on Etherdelta this become a problem. The transaction fee are very high and so slow transaction if you dont set the high gas. Ethereum must start to developt their system.

With the crypto currencies market, I believe that we also need a little bit luck, because as far as we know that cryto market is notoriously volatile so it fluctuates regularly, it may go up, down or stable immediately. It’s not easy for you to build experience, it requires a lot of your time. You should spend your time reading a lot about this market regularly to well-known about altcoin. If you have deep knowledge about coin, you will get easy and convenient in analyzing its market as same as its fluctuation. Any way,you must keep patient and calm when you make a decision, one more thing you should remember in this crypto market is accepting the loss. Don’t worry too much, hold your altcoin is best way for you if you invest for long term.

At the moment i do not have as much altcoin, in possession i have 3 altcoins, and non of them are big amounts. In the past i tried to deal with altcoins, and it was ok. From some i got profit and from some i got either nothing or negative income. But because all of them was low worth coins i didn't mind losing, experience that i got is worth a lot more. Now i only hold altcoins that don't demand too much of attention, and we shell see if it will pay off.

Personally, I do not keep altcoyins. Altkoinami I trade paired with bitcoin for a short distance in order to increase the number of its bitcoins. I agree that on altkoynah you can make good money by investing in them. But among the thousands of altcoins, it is very difficult to choose those that will grow very much in the future.

Ive got at least 10 alts now which I got from very select good airdrops. Never had to spend a dime aside from paying my internet bill.monthly. I got good returns after 6 months for at least $5000 which is more than I expected. Sold most of it and HODL btc, eth, neo, onion and some other alts. Its been almost a year with crypto and there's still soo much to learn,  such a shame though there are only very few like very very few good airdrops now so Im switching to recomended ICO's!

I mine ethereum classic. I sold it back then for $ 18
But I dont regret it, as I received an invaluable experience.
At that time I was still selling airdrops right away when they were getting and rejoiced that I was able to get $ 50-100 and it was cool. But after a month later I saw that I could get 10 times, or even 20 times more.
After that moment, I decided to keep the coins to the last.
And sell only at the time when you urgently need money

I'm still a starter to cryptocurrency so I have at least 6 kinds of altcoins they are Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Nem, Dash and Z cash, 2 ERC20 tokens earned from bounties and 2 mosaics, the main crypto, of course, is bitcoin, there is not much profit from it because I'm still starting to build my investments and coins but probably in the future I will reap the moon of profit from my game strategy for cryptocurrencies.

I have a stable income outside of crypto currencies. Therefore, I view crypto currency as an investment in the future. I think that my money will grow.

Not really that much. Since i cannot invest because i do not have the capability to invest in ICOs and altcoins that i know will pump in the next few months. Well, i have 50+ tokens in my mew, which is now all in all $2k but if i add uo all my expenses in buying a laptop and paying for the internet, i am still in a deep loss. But i wish someday i will gain profits in joining bounties and airdrops. Breaking even is hard but i will surely work hard to achieve my goals, and get big profits in the future.

Altcoin are good option for investment purpose in my experience, I have earned lot from altcoin when i was started trading then Bitcoin price was at 1200$ and the altcoin price star to going to moon almost all altcoin was going up day by day and that was the good time to earn from altcoins and after that when bitcoin hardfork procedure was disturbing the altcoin price, then all altcoin start to loose their price day by day and until the November 2017, after that i feel this time is again is starting to the good investors of altcoins.

I have 7 altcoins and very little BTC. I think the bigger profit lies in altcoins, and that there are much better coins then BTC out there. On the other side you should choose your altcoins wisely, not to lose too much money and don't hold all your money in just one altcoin.

Dont lose hope buddy since we are on the same track or path which we are not really on the investors side since tokens usually i do hold up is from those bounty and airdrop coins which doesnt really involve any money on gaining them but somehow you do exert effort to earn them. Heres a tip, once of those coins do have value, try to re-roll it by means of trading, just risk on the amount that you can afford because this would add up even more if you did it right.

Comrades,

I've got a decent array of altcoins in my arsenal at the moment. Starting off, I've got Ether, Stratis, Electroneum, and Bitcash as my biggest holdings. Following those I've got small holdings in Ripple, Omisego, Zcoin, Substratum, Stellar, Siacoin, Icon, Cardano, and Groestlcoin. They've all had their good and bad moves. Right now I'm HODLing all of my Crypto, though as I've seen some profits disappear and regret that I didn't take profits and reinvest elsewhere.

Does anyone have some feedback on these coins? What are your opinions on HODLing vs. actively trading, taking profits, and reinvesting?

Cheers

I am sure that if we have many altcoins, it will bring a big profit in the short term and long term. some of this altcoin will increase and makes us gain a profit but the other altcoin need a long time before it gives us the profit. personally, I have many altcoins which I bought in the past and now I see that my investment is increased drastically because the price of each coin is increased. it is always better if we have the patience to wait for the price increase so we can sell to take the profit.

Well, I got over thirty different altcoins at the moment. I do think that this is kind of too many, but I kind of fell in love with many projects and therefore just didnt sell the alts when I had the chance (thats something I learned for myself: never fall in love with your coins). In regard to the profits from alts: I have definitely lost out on profits with my investments in altcoins. They underperformed big time compared to Bitcoins performance, but as the markets did grow overall, I also made some decent profits with my altcoins. I dont regret being into alts to be honest.

I currently only hold sia and pascal, i've made about 400% return since the end of November at my ATH.

Market is pulling back currently so my portfolio is down 10-15% atm from the ATH if not more.

But been fun so far ;)

A lot more than I should to be honest and the profit are probably less than they should to be honest. I am doing good as a trader? I know I am not but I am still here meaning I have a chance to better myself and I will get better at this game everyday.

It was really a good journey for me. I have experienced lots of good things which made me more strong in my knowledge of crypto. I generally try to be a part of good ICOs and i also recommend to participate in airdrops in order to get value tokens sometimes.

We can profit from good altos. I have more than ten types of violas. I'm not a trader. Some of them are short-term, and some are long-term ones. But almost 65% of my portfolio is BTC and ETH.

I started trading alts when i had 0.1BTC last year trading altcoins is much better than trading bitcoin itself, now my porfolio is worth 15BTC from 0.1 it really depends on your trading style and experience.

A decent result. You save 50/50 in bitcoin and altcon, I hope you do not store the entire amount in altcoin?

I received a brighter profit only from three projects. Four coins, which I bought on ICO six months ago, have hardly returned to the purchase price. Now I am careful about my investments. I think that in a year I will increase my investments several times.

Most ICO's won't get that high of a price within their first week. Just keep holding the investment till you see a profit.

How many kinds of altcoin do you have?   profit?
I have a few alts which I still prefer to hold until the value gets much higher. Some of them I get from airdrops and some from bounty campaigns. In fact I already trade one of my alts and I get a good good profit out of it. I've been here in the forum for 3 months and I made good profit from alts alone,  I guess it is a good investment and can really make money and a good income.

I have a lot of alts coin, when I saw a good chance to buy I will buy it and hold it for long term, I also got a lot of stuck coin due to the sudden fall down recently, but some of the coin already giving me a good profit, the profit is better than holding Bitcoin, so I think alt coin give a pretty good profit if you can create an opportunity to earn

I only a few altcoins in my wallet and I have never tried trading them since I got them. Altcoins have low values these past days and I want to wait for the right time to sell them to get the most out of it. Coins I own are mostly from ICO campaigns I joined and airdrops. The value of altcoins I got were not so high yet and I am still waiting for them to peak. They sais that it would take around a month or more before its value rise up.

The biggest profit now is in altcoins. I don't think Bitcoin will rise any more, but altcoins will rise sure.

You must just cleverly decide which coins are worth buying. I always chose coins with practical application that solves some problem that other coins don't.
