It seems the 'game' now is to look for a promising project that's worth a few cents per coin, and then buy and hold that until it reaches a dollar or more.

Most of the high volume top 20 coins are now becoming less and less profitable.  So I'm looking for altcoins under the top 100 at CMC that's worth a few cents per coin as mentioned, but has a good probablity to reach dollar parity.

I'm currently looking at DENT coin. It's hovering in and out of the top 100 at around 2-3 cents. It has a good product behind it but whether it can capture a good audience will vary the price of it.

Another random one to look at is Snovio.

It would really help a lot to tell me more about those altcoins and why do you think they will reach dollar parity.  Some charts would be nice but optional.  I'd like to hear more about what's happening with the project on the development side.

I'm afraid I have to agree with that. Top-100 is already a very big list of coins and the majority of them are rather cheap. Why not to choose among the cheap coins that already proved being not so bad by appearing in top-100? Doge and nxt are very cheap and in the top for years now. Electroneum is very promising as well. Yet I suppose it's better to invest in more expensive coins such as ripple and iota which are very likely to bring good profit.
If you want to invest in coins that are not in top-100 anyway then the only coin I can advice is Blackmoon crypto. The team is strong and the project is not so bad, perhaps this coin can succeed long-term.

It is good IF the top 100 parameter is taken out.  A top 100 cent coin means very high coin count which is bad.

This kind of strategy is pretty much ok but not best. I mean there are some indicators and obvious reasons some coins grow in prices but targeting $1 psychological barrier won't work with most of bad alts.
I suggest you to buy hive at bottom. nice one.

Espers - the project came back from dead and there is a fork in January 5th, many things to come in 2018 (new wallets, sidechain, sitechain). It is one of the cheapest existing POS-POW hybrid coin;
Trezarcoin - huge potential to make a 10x and more, another PoW-PoS coin, also planning to apply Lightning network;
Vibe - AR/VR project here. Nuff said.

Put invest on XLM stellar, i see in few last month, this development are going so well which affect with increasing the value in some market. On CMC, the price was rocketing in last 7 days. This coins XSPEC are looks promising also, price was above $1, at now it is 1 CMC = $3.5, but i think this having good ROI in short time invest.
