Yes, it has to be said that cryptocurrency is a good tool for crime, especially money laundering, so some anonymous tokens may be subject to government regulation and sanctions.

"some scary stuff" This shit with the ramsonwares was just a old stuff that happened more than five months ago, maybe more if i am not wrong.

Why are you posting this fud right now? What a coincidence, the price goes down, it is full of fud.. and a newbie account with zero posts contributes with more fud.

Money have the same issues, money laundering, criminals, drugs, without money, there wouldn't be any crimes.

And bitcoin = money.

Apart from the sensationalist heading, what makes me think about this is: how are kidnappers going to spend their bitcoins? It’s been widely debated in this forum that to cash out large amounts of bitcoins you will need to identify yourself and convert them into fiat, sending to the money to a bank account.

So, I don’t know how they plan to spend $1 million worth of bitcoin without being tracked. Maybe they can use a mixer to hide the origin of those funds but they will still have considerable sum of money they can not explain where it comes from.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, as of right now, is really making criminals, drug addicts, nefarious beings, and other evil organizations jobs a lot easier.

You are wrong: "Pavel Lerner, a leading analyst and blockchain expert, was abducted by unknown masked people on 26 December,"

Well, it has to be a lot of question,  how do you know or compare that there's some anonymous tokens may be subject to government regulation and sanctions or not?

I mean, just because cryptocurrencies are being used by bad people doesn't mean that they are worthless or should be abandoned. Additional regulations may help tackle these issues, but labeling cryptocurrencies dangerous just because they are being used for other purposes than intented is nothing more than fear mongering in my opinion.

Criminals were happened all the time in the human history. It's believing that man used the paper money for the first time in A.D 618, OK, before that, The service seeker or contractor paid to the hitman in bronze, gold or ...... anything physical. And, since the man begun using paper money, hitman also was paid in paper money.

I'm sure that people who were living in that era said that, Paper money, as of right now, is really making criminals and evil organizations jobs a lot easier.

We can not stop the evolution.

Yeah, I already read that in the Press Release section as well and my reaction is that criminals are taking it on the next level. But don't blame bitcoins though, its not its fault, they have exploited a hole in bitcoins design. The only thing that I'm afraid of is that criminals have set a precedent, kidnappers and extortionist asking to be payed in crypto's like bitcoin. One thing though that I wanted to see is that authorities will really go after them because this is not just a scam or a hack. Lives already involved here, at least since its been sensationalized and the bitcoin address should be track and unmask the people or group of people who are behind this kidnapping.

The same thing happened a few months ago in Taiwan. Let's be honest, Bitcoin is not related to crime by any mean, but it would be naive to think the demand for Bitcoin last few years has no link with crime. This is an appropriate tool for criminals and that's why the market of Bitcoin need to acknowledge it IMO. It is not being a "troll", a "FUD newbie" to acknowledge that.
What I dislike very much is "journalists" knowing pretty much nothing about Bitcoin, and calling it a scam / or dangerous for this sole reason. without digging deeper to get more exact information and see the big picture.

Read it, even read more news related to such context. I think anonymity is one of characteristic of Bitcoin, but here we are seeing this advantage of Bitcoin is used to make crime. So in such case what conclusion we can find ? Bitcoin anonymity is good or bad ?

I personally think that, how we consider it and accept it.

Do you believe this news is true. People like you and sucking politicians only always gives bad face for bitcoin but it is not actually true. Since the information is shown in your link without the tx id link which mentioned in the news. Since you being in the forum, even you does not know sharing tx id in news will not be loss for anyone. You have learn that first.
People who does not know about the bitcoin may be believe this kind rumours but bitcoin can be used for many good deeds and it has the potential to wash out the  banks and many corporates. That is why everyone troll here.

Yeah?
How is bitcoin making the life of those criminals a lot easier?
Just because of the payments?

Let's take for example the kidnapping part.
So, police can't track the money because of coins, they could of course have tracked the bills...NOT.

But the car used, the phone conversations, the place where he was hidden, where the car was spotted, who rented (owned it), those clues I have the feeling are far more important that the way the payment was sent.
And in case of drug addicts...
What's easier, spot guys with a bag of cocaine lurking around 7/11 and passing the border with a car full of packages or track 10 dollar bills?

Do you believe this news is true. People like you and sucking politicians only always gives bad face for bitcoin but it is not actually true. Now seriously, what are you trying to say?
