Title: How to NOT stake in PoS?
Post by: tt77 on December 30, 2017, 03:36:55 PM
Is it possible to NOT stake your coins in a Proof of Stake ?

Create wallet with walletgenerator.net, send coins there, keep as paper wallet -> will it stake?

And with airdrops: can I NOT accept them somehow?

staking coin have mininmum and maximum age, if you "not" claim it, its expired and you get nothing, and about airdrop, you get it only if you join it. so dont signup for everything so your wallet still empty. im little bit confuse actually why you ask this kind of questions

Thanks for the quick answer.

Depending on the country you live in, airdrops or free coins by PoS change your portfolio from this coin from speculation to yields (? google translator, sorry) because you made money from them ( = staking, airdrops).

What about hardforks? There you get free coins from a different currency as well sometimes?

If you're holding your coins in myetherwallet then you'll have to input the contract code for the staking to happen so if you don't want it to happen then you just don't do that.

As it relates to blockchain technology, a hard fork (or sometimes hardfork) is a radical change to the protocol that makes previously invalid blocks/transactions valid (or vice-versa), and as such requires all nodes or users to upgrade to the latest version of the protocol software.
people say hardfork is done for improvement in coin tech, so basicaly it split your coin and you receive new coin with 1:1 scale. Yeah its free but soometimes useless fork with no meaning except to make profit for dev. some fork have ton of premine coin  >:(

No, it will not stake.

Most alts are using qt-wallet. In qt-wallet, you need to unlock it to start maturing and staking. If you don't unlock it, you will not stake.
