Title: Old blockchain.info stuck
Post by: Sujoris on December 31, 2017, 08:53:06 AM
So.. I had this blockchain.info account.. from 2015..
I had the pass phrase written down with 2Fa activated & all. Today when I try to login it's asking for the 2nd password.. Googled a bit.. but no help.. support is inresponsive right now.. anyone else face the same issue?

What information's did you provide while trying to login? It's possible that the second password they are referring to is taken from the passphrase, you can try this solution (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2093611.msg20992039#msg20992039). The thing with that mnemonic phrase is that It cannot be used anywhere else unlike the new HD wallets where BIP39 is used. If that solution doesn't work, you will having nothing but to wait for support answer.

nope - the second password was never set because back then it didn't exist.

you can try this solution (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2093611.msg20992039#msg20992039).

Hello,
Do you know your wallet mnemonic which was shown you in the introduction?
If so, then you can recover the password with this page (it is an archived page which decrypts your mnemonic to plain password):
https://web.archive.org/web/20140322040716/http://blockchain.info:80/wallet/forgot-password (https://web.archive.org/web/20140322040716/http://blockchain.info:80/wallet/forgot-password)

Once done, you could use the Wallet-UID and decrypted password to log in.
If you are still not able to log in because of wrong Wallet-UID. You can import the wallet with this page:
https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet (https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet).

Cheers
Salmen

1. its not the main password - which I have and which is what ^ this method recovers.. its the 2nd password that was put in place when they upgraded to v3 wallets from v2.
2. I do not have the backup file
3. Not sure importing applies to my case.

The thing with that mnemonic phrase is that It cannot be used anywhere else unlike the new HD wallets where BIP39 is used. If that solution doesn't work, you will having nothing but to wait for support answer.

That's exactly what I am doing for the last few month - almost a year .. they can't be bothered it seems... responses come once every couple month that too something that does not help..

Hmm, looks like you probably just forget the password. Someone in my local board get this problem too back in 2017 and i help him to crack it with btcrecover and its show up with 6 random number, maybe you have same issues with him. Try to crack it by yourself, you maybe lucky if you find the password.

Support should be your best bet. Contact them on their facebook page maybe they would have a solution for you. Can't you export the mnemonic into an existing wallet or something? Assuming you still have the passphrase.

In this case, only the blockchain.info(com) team can only help you, I suggest to follow up with them even every 2 days. If that funds are too huge for you then you should do every single way.
Also, this will serve to all users, or to all who has wallet that, saving backup for recovery phrase/seed is a must, even if you just store it on your google drive (not recommended tho but it will save you from having none) or anywhere that you think is safe enough.

They send a message to your email when you try to log in. You should click on the message, but you should use the other tab where you have put your password, not the one that has opened. And you should use the number that they have send to your email as your login, not your email.

That's not the main issue as per my understanding, blockchain asks him to put second password which he have never set before.

Probably Adding screenshot of your main problem could help a little for those who have better understanding on such problem. I wonder, dont they have other options to recover your funds as you have the passphrase and login detail? What was the last message from the support related to your problem?

Woah its been 2 years and it hasnt been resolved? I want to know on whats the response of blockchain support on this matter as well. All necessary phrases is there but still required for that 2nd layer.
If its hundreds of thousands stuck then its worth for you on everyday to follow up until they would give out a solution.

Haven't you tried the "Recover Wallet (https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password)" option? It's integrated with their "Forgot Password" link but it works with old SEEDs: https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password (https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password)

Here's what the note from the link says:
If you have a legacy wallet recovery mnemonic saved enter it below to view the password and login link.
If it happen to be "new HD SEED" use this link instead: https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover (https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover)

Woah it's a long time since you made this thread and until now they didn't took any further actions regarding your complain?

Like they said, send them a request and contact them again.

Even that is what I am staring and thinking what and where discussion is going. Actually there is no possiblities without knowing mnemonic phrase, password, 2fa or wallet.dat.
Please check and browser you have used and check the password saved. If all things right you can verify the email for the same browser and do that, but please try it on computer or laptop that you accessed last time.

He said on the first post that he has the pass phrase and written it down, his account is asking for a 2nd password so that's all the support has to do until he proved ownership.

@OP do you have any update regarding your concern?

Are you offering any type of reward?

Do you still own the computer you first created the wallet on?

Do you own another device you have used previously to log into this wallet?

If so I can help you, I have 7 years of experience in C++ and Reverse Engineering I have also helped several others recover their lost passwords and wallets.

Let me know,
