I am curious, if you had 500$, what portofolio would you build right now? How many coins would you buy and how much money would you put in each one of them?

So, what portofolio would you build with 500$?

Purchase XEM, ETH and NEO. Stripped about 1/3

I will check the upcoming fundamentals of the alts and then i will go all in in a single coin.

500$ is not much I am afraid. But if you want to spend just the 500$ then buy ebitcoin. It will double your money in less than a month.

500 is hard to diversify a lot, better relying on few cryptos

50% more greedy, like STRATIS

Just buy bitcoin or one of the bigger-name altcoins like Dash.

Alternatively, you could go to a place like newegg and get yourself a nice turntable with built-in speakers for about $200.  And after that, hit up kratora for some kava kava or kratom.  There's so many good things to do with $500 that don't involve speculating on shitcoins.  I'm pretty sure that market is about to crash down to its ears.

I am going my whole $500 with XLM with this portfolio, the partnership of IBM and stellar is I think will grow the price of this coin for about 3 months or so.

I had the same coin a few days ago and and I hold it to this day.
However, if I had a 500$ i will invest in cheapest coin, with a coin price below 1$ like ADA, ETN, WHERE, DOGE and BCN.

I do not know percentage spread, perhaps in equal parts.

I would suggest that you stick with Bitcoin and the major altcoins like Ethereum, Dash, and Litecoin. Those will probably less risky choices for long term investment. I would diversify with 60% Bitcoin and 40% of one of those altcoins or a combination of the three. There are probably a few other altcoins that could be good as well.

Would purchase Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEM, Waves and Siacoin. $200 Bitcoin, $100 Ethereum, $100 NEM, and $50 each for Waves and Siacoin.

Don't buy BTC, many are suggesting it but buying $500 worth btc is not good idea unless you are going to hold it for long.
I would suggest put most of the money in XRB, then in ETH and probably some in XRP.

The answer really depends on what the time frame of your investment.

That said, I would split it equally between Raiblocks (XRB) and Tron (TRX).

I will buy coin for long term like LTC and ETH. 50:50 ratio because for me both coins are promising coins in the future.

Buy yourself an etherium, it will be the best and safest investment. In my opinion, the price of 1500 dollars is quite real.

Depending on whether, you want a long or short term returns you could invest in large supply blockchain projects such as NEM, BITSHARES, DENTcoin, ICON etc, I could also recommend small to medium supply solid coins such as powerledger, bancor network token, raiden network token etc. Make sure the project is solid and with a solid team.

I am sure $500 is way to small to build a profitable cryptocurrency portfolio with! You may want to start reading up on project that has potential in future so that your meager $500 could worth something in the future!

Ok so I would stick with ones that I see having bright future in 2018
the most important one is Ethereum , why? because it has a vast network under its shoulders making it valuable.
then I will buy XLM (lumens ) the next ripple.
ETC haven't been pumped for a long time now.
and I will probably keep some btc.

and ofcourse I will buy dead cheap coin like embercoin or a coin that have 1 satoshi value and HODL for future because any increment is like x2.

You need to pick 5 currencies at most and firmly believe in their potential (aka HODL). Do your own research, compare market cap and see if the price is undervalued. Choose your strategy (short or long-term) and choose coins based on your strategy. Coins like Nexus or Iota are great for hodl but a disappointment to see it at the same price while other coins are mooning.

Hold atleast 3 coins divided equaly. For me I'll purchase bitcoin, ethereum and ripple because so far they are the top cryptos in the market. These coins combinantion is I think the best to hold and invest based on the history of value appreciation and I believe investors are having these three as their main option for a long term or even short term investment

Actually what I did yesterday! Stellar +30-50% Tron +50+80% in 24hrs. Now this coins are going XRP way and it's a really nice projects.

Invest all of them to BCPT. I expect the price of BCPT to be around $4-5 in the near future. They have a good team, good project, and your investment is not that much, you can take some risk.

Yes, and this coin has strange amount of the NEO capitalization $6 666 660 000 now. These numbers even scare me  :-[

I would forget about the big players, there will not be 3x gains, forget about it if you divide it.

1) Buy one of the promising one like Ripple and hope for x2
2) Buy promising new coins like CAT ( bitclave) , BAT  for 100-200$ and you will most likely hit 3-10x gains in few months.

I'm not at all sure that it's worth buying LTC now even in the long run. It's very unstable now. It's better to see some prospective altcoins such as XRP, tron, siacoin, stellar. they really show good results and this trend will continue

Drop 300usd into good projects on exchange then look for good ICO and drop the other 200usd

I think that I would invest in BTC, ETH and XMR. The first two are for 200, and the third is $ 100. I think that this result should bring me good luck.

ETH can be a good start. You can then transfer some to binance/bittrex and buy some other coins

Buy cheap coins that you think have potential.

Too many options would only get you confused.. Choose two or three good projects either one should be in ICO while the others could be on exchange already.

Split it into 3 coins at max. Look for under the rock projects or ICO's which do not have had much attention lately and are having very low market cap. One such coin that I can suggest is OPT.

There are 2 options for that small investment,go for small market caps coins that you think will become big eventually or invest in a coin durring its ico stage.Some of the icos durring the 2017 year had masive profits to their investors no reason for that not to happen this year2

I will divine it, 60% for holding altcoin for long term, 20% will be use for trading and the remaining 20% will be only holding bitcoin.

I'll probably invest them in three coins, something like that:
BTC = 200$
XRP = 200$
and XLM = 200$

But there are many other options that I would also try :)

Im pretty sure about that.i ALL IN STORM. AFTER x5. SELL ALL. IN 15 - 20 days it makes x10. And still has 5x im pretty sure. Maybe IT goes to $2 who knows ?

What i will do is to do some research first to what ICO do i need to invest in,i will put the $500 to the ICO and will wait for a couple of months for the result.

$ 500 is not a big amount that would scatter it on a lot of coins, buy 3-5 coins that are now at the bottom but with a great idea and a good team. leave them for 2 years, after 2 years, wake up with $ 5 million on your wallet

Buddy, if you want to look at your portfolio in the next year or longer with a smile I recommend you to buy two coins - Mooncoin(MOON) and BitcoinWhite(BTW). Both of them will be cheap now, one is a sleeping giant that will explode this year, another is new currency(not a bitcoin clone, this is important) that have a great future, so buy half one half another and enjoy ;)

One guy here is ready to invest 12000USD in Litecoin or any other currency. Telling the truth I am not ready to do such things with all experience I have. So investing of 500USD is easy task, at least it looks like.
Anyway better to invest in many alts. Many of them now is growing x10. And if you will have many alts you can be lucky to receive such a great reward!

If you have small capital, you should find money that you can make more profit in the future. you think you're looking at the project and the team is solid. If I invest 500 dollars in subcoins today, the following would be the money in my portfolio.

A very small amount for investment, but I would invest this money in the crypto coin of NEO. And I would not share other crypto coins.

He he, not much of a portfolio I would say, just the fees of the exchanges and all the movements are going to have a certain impact on your finance, so keep it simple, 3 or 4 coins and forget about bitcoin because of the fees. I would go for Ehtereum as stable, Electroneum as a bet and any good ICO to try to catch a rocket.

Try to distribute your portfolio between different cryptos and don't focus in only one or two limited coins/tokens.

Start with low priced altcoins or tokens. Some tokens with very low price are having a good run right now like PKT and CAPP. PKT is priced at 3$ and CAPP is under 0.5$ but the potential is really great. You can make 3 or 4 times your money in a few months.

Then you can invest in a more serious crypto like NEM, ETH, LTC and BTC.

You are starting with a small amount so I would recommend you to first do some research on the coin and after that by them so they give you good profits. If you want to divide your portfolio then I will recommend you to do research on 5 to 6 coins and buy them according to the total amount you want to invest.

id say put it all in neo and try to buy a little every week. $40-50 here and there soon adds up. in saying that if you had put $500 into ethereum 2 wks ago you would have 750 today if you had bought litecoin you would be down a little.

For short term you can buy Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash, and then for long term you can buy ethereum, Dash and Monero. I suggest don’t pull all your eggs in one basket, it would be very risky. So, you can get profit from long term investment and short term investment.

Maybe i will invest all of 500$ in tron right now (TRX) since trx showing a significant growth. Maybe it will success like ripple who has bellow 1USD before and now reach 3 $ now. And then i wish tron will reach top ten of altcoin. If there is another option to transaction other binance tron will easy to growth high than before.

I have a golden one for a $500 investment but I can't say until I've bought it. I will say it trades on cryptopia. In the meantime, Deeponion is going to go up regardless of the FUD against it.. so either get in or miss the profit.  I bought in in spite of the FUD at $2.50 and am doing fine. I said I'd say I told you so when it hit $100M market cap.. we're not there yet.. well now it looks like $200M should be pretty easy for this one.  Otherwise Xtrabytes and Pascalcoin are my favorites for the technology they have or promise to have. I've made posts about it before and don't want to spam too much.  Pascal should be trading at $500M plus but being an older coin they are only listed on poloniex, which is their biggest disadvantage. There's a big paywall these days to hit a decent exchange.  Assuming Xtrabytes gets patent pending status and their third testnet goes well I expect $1B out of that one in the next month or two, an increase of more than 3X from here.

I also own WAGERR.. they are promising a mainnet and transition off the waves platform onto their own blockchain here in the next couple of weeks.  NEM is my baby... I own Ark and it's been going nowhere. Chart looks ready for a pump. Would like to see more frequent communication from them on the progress of their platform.

Though I don't own any and don't know if I will buy any, chances are good that COSS is going to keep pumping. Any functioning exchange is going to see high demand. I've always had my eye on HEAT but they could never get their product working while others have passed them by.   If COSS pumps it will do so quickly but I don't know if I trust their platform enough to use it yet looking at the ANN thread and the problems people are having.

First, you need to figure out how the work will work with the deposit, if long, then ETH / XMR /BTC /BCC /Nem. and if an aggressive strategy, then you need to watch the news background, the team, the solution to the problem, the capitalization and volumes of trades and try to jump on the train)

You can buy 3 coins in equal shares. This bitcoin, ethereum and nem. Perhaps you will not get phenomenal profits, but the profit will be enough.

hmm with this amount I wouldn't go for too much diversity because of the exchange fees that you have to pay every time.
If you want a 100 fold gain you need to take a very high risk with a coin/token that has a low market cap.

If you want something more or less stable (it basically moves up and down with ETH due to the connectors) with fairly low market cap, I would suggest to put a bit into Bancor :)

I am little confused. Because what you want to see. Or what advise want to get? Because Ever in you will get X2-X5, this is low profit. If you want good profit you should to invest in new/perspective projects. But you can lost your money. If stable profit, but lower my shoice is XEM and NEM with 250$

I do trust in TRON (TRX) and probably this is the best time to invest the prices are very cheap it's down to .12$/TRX
In other hands Cardano, Lumens and Verge will be the excellent choice.

I'd go with TRON (TRX) it's down to $.13 and worth buying at this moment. TRON has expanding daily by adding new partners. We can expect real massive growth in coming days.

For all 500 $ I would definitely buy tokens TokenGo, although they are not yet in the market, I consider them very promising ::)

I would spend 50% on ethereum. 30% used to buy bitcoin. And for the remaining 20% I bought different tokens that just appeared on stock exchanges, for example TIO and PKT.

For me, if someone gave me $500 to invest I would be looking for a coin that can go 100x or more. Building a well balanced and rounded portfolio is definitely the best practice but I am looking to earn more than such a portfolio could do so. I would probably invest in something at ICO.

Maybe you will want to get 2 or 3 Altcoins or invest in ICO instead as ETH and BTC price is already more than 500 and buying Altcoins or projects that are cheaper before their ICO will be a better idea to let your money churn money.

Well it's not small to the extent that you can create a portfolio consisting of like 4-5 coins. I would probably split it into 5 and allocate $100 for each coin. Especially now that the prices are low and are set to increase in the near future, you would definitely make some money.

I think that 500 $ it is good amount to try high risk investment. Just find out coin with very low capitalisation, make research to be sure that it is still live and spend all portfolio for long holding of this coin.

I would choose a 50/50% mix of a quite "safe" investment like ETH or BTC that may grow steadily on a mid/long term view and besides that a solid/promising top 40 coin like waves, ven, neo, strat and so on that has enough space left for a huge rise.

I hope you're not expecting a high profit with that amount, I mean $500 is still a money and can buy a good coin so better to choose a coin whose already established in the market and that's bitcoin. Just hold it for long-term and see how your $500 will grow in no time.

Situation change since this question was asked, now i would invest in ETH  - 50%, 25 % in TON, and 25% in different ICOs.

If short-term only and for trading I would choose Neo. The fundamentals and technical performance is solid. But if long term I would choose Ethereum. If $500 investment I will not suggest to break it down into more coins, just settle to only one coin to maximize the gain and make sure that you monitor it very well.

These are the coins you have to consider in investing. The division of percentage depends on you. But I recommend you divide them into 25% each.
Another thing is you can find altcoins that are lower than $1. That will be a lot of money in the future. Just make sure that those coins have a good future.

I would invest in coins like Ripple, Stellar, Monero, Cardano and Ethereum Classic as i feel these would be the most successful and profitable coins with this amount. They have good potential to rise  and they are quite popular within the community too.

Though $500 is not enough but still the basic rule of not putting all your eggs in one basket should be applied. Get a coins that is trading under $10 and buy. For example ripple and wait for a year  while you learn and build your portfolio.

No matter my portfolio is $500 or $5000, it will definitely have Bitcoin, ETH, Monero and SC coins.

It depends on the situation in which the market is located. If the rate is low (as it is now), then I would buy a little from the top 10 coins. If the rate were at its peak, then I would look for promising new altcoins.

I would make a major investment in bitcoin and ethereum. The remaining smaller part I would invest in new ICO. I think this is the most correct way.  8)

You are going to get eaten up a little on transaction fees with that amount so I would recommend 1-2 coins. I would also recommend long holds which mean pick projects you believe in, team, tech etc. I will always recommend Ethereum they have done a great job fostering developer interest by being the first platform to have a virtual machine. They have a great team and a significant portion of the innovation in this sphere in the next few years will be on their platform.

ICO is good invest, u can have x5 easy 2-3 month.

I think that one-third should be kept in ethereum, another third should be kept in bitcoin, and the rest of the third should be invested in different ICOs. Something from this will very well grow in price.  ;)

with such a small investment ur best bet is to stay away from major coins unless u like slower safer returns. the reason being is you're only going to get 2x-3x return in the same time frame as opposed to netting multiple 1000+% gains if you actually do some due dilligence here. the time is now and the volatility wont last. once more money keeps flowing in and the spreads get tighter don't expect the market to act the same.

It depends on you! You can either buy it on a Altcoins or split it into three. You can place 200 $ in Ethereum, and $ 200 in NEO 100 $ in XVG. It depends on you, My only advice is to first check the altcoins you are charging and check it carefully. So you do not imitate those deceived by Bitconnect.

I would advice you to diversify your portfolio between 3 coins which are Bitcoin, ethereum and litecoin. I would like you to invest almost around 250$ in Bitcoin as it is the most popular crypto available in the market and has tremendous amount of potential to grow. I would advice you to invest 125$ each in litecoin and ethereum as both of these coins are unique in their own way and both have a really really strong team which you can trust for sure. This diversification can help you earn good amounts of profits in the future.

If you take only 500 bucks, then it will be 3 coins- ETH, NEO and Ripple, and some more money you can earn on bounty campaigns and gradually invest. it's a good idea, with little risk.

For a 500$ portofolio I would not take big risks. Keep it safe.

ETH, some BTC, Stellar, NEO (seems great at the moment). You might also want to try out some ICO projects as they are usually much cheaper in the beginning and who knows if you one of them ends up being a success you might earn a nice amount.

Same thought in this. You may want also consider Waves and the newest ICO, BitcoinWhite. Read their whitepaper and you'll be surprised of what the future holds in these bounties. Bitcoin is a little expensive so I suggest buy the new ICOs with great potential to increase it's value.

If I have $ 500, I will spend 50% on Bitcoin and ETH, 30% on the coin of current top 5 exchange floors, and the remaining 20% on current potential ICOs such as Envion, Credits, and Buzzshow. These are the most potential ICOs at the beginning of 2018. This is my personal opinion, you can refer or ignore if it is not reasonable.

If short-term only and for trading I would choose Neo. The fundamentals and technical performance is solid. But if long term I would choose Ethereum. If $500 investment I will not suggest to break it down into more coins, just settle to only one coin to maximize the gain and make sure that you monitor it very well.

My choice for $500 portfolio are WAVES, STRATIS, SIACOIN,and DEEPONION 25% in each coin because these coins are ready to go to moon.

Maybe, I would have broken this money into equal shares and invested in several crypto-currencies. In my opinion this year may be successful ethereum, bitcoin, nem and neo. Even if one of these coins takes off in value, then you will remain in the win.

I would take ethereum for the full amount, and half of these funds I would invest in new ICOs. This approach should be beneficial, because if even one coin shows good growth, then you can make good money on it.

I would do about the same, only with a small correction. 33% in bitcoin, 33% in ethereum, and the remainder (34%) would invest in ICOs. I believe that in the investment portfolio it is necessary to have bitcoin.  ;)

I'll stay 20% in BTC at least. The rest will be in long term holds. It's hard to day-trade in crypto with that value. It's not worth your time. Work hard instead and continue purchasing cryptos by dollar-cost averaging each one.

Do you have other investments too, such as gold or stocks/bonds?

What is your accepted risk level?  For example, if you lost most of the $500 would you be able o earn a similar amount next month to try investing again?

Not a big amount of money. Of course you can buy some coins from top but ... it will take toooo long to make even 5000$ from these 500$. So I recommend you to buy some new coins with small capitalization. For example - BitcoinWhite - dpos coin(not fork, own blockchain), which is very cheap now. Or join ICO on your decision - but too many scam, so buing BTW is more safe and more real to make 5000$ with your depo in a short time

$500 is a good start..
If I were you, based on the current market, I'll probably start with investing in NANO, Ethos, Stellar Lumens, and some portion of Ethereum of course.
Or maybe I'll just put $400 on these and 100$ on a random ICO.

But well, I think the best way to actually get anything big with $500 is to put it all on an ICO. Risky though, but you could multiple it to 5-10 times if you put in on a right ICO.

If you want to make investments for long term, I think the best choices would be ethereum or bitcoin. If you want to make some daily trading, in my opinion, you can maybe consider about dividing your $500 some pieces and try your chance with the coins which have low prices like IOTA, Icon or Waves.

I think that's a hard decision to do if we have a fix vision for our blockfolio to reach that amount to sum up for even though worrying on what may happen for the next coming days. Long term can really be surprising as you monitor your coins day by day, but sometime its just a stress upon seeing that price will have to take a bigger dips while price of bitcoin stabilizes at $8K. Its hard for the alts to pump also, because in terms of value it was just a domino effect right now.

Well, half a thousand of dollars is a pretty good sum of money for making portfolio and starting dealing with crypto. Pay special attention at Qtum, Cardano, EOS and NEM. Probably you can also add IOTA to this list.

I'm curious who else thought this post was worth 50 merit! I mean, it's a free forum and everything but I had to reread this post to make sure I wasn't missing some nuanced insight or investment strategy - and I don't think I did!

I would recommend to hold 50% of your funds in Ethereum as a big and stable coin. And you should invest other half in any promising ICO to get their tokens can show even greater growth   

I would advice you to buy tokens right after Ico on the exchanges, when the price is not very big, and wait for a week or two and then sell it. In this way you can make more than 100% profit in such a short period.
