Even every BTC fork improves something (block size, consensus type, privacy and so on). It's a very hard thing to do something fundamental and succeed at the very beginning.

The main feature of any currency is the ability to make transactions and give some volume to any other people. The unique aspect about this industry is that it isn't limited to one field but rather can be a part of any field as long as the technology is integrated well.

With the time old cryptocurrencies and their chains become very complex and using of them require much possibilities that can not be easily provided.
