Title: Will Litecoin die?
Post by: goodGuyGreg on January 02, 2018, 07:07:51 PM
According to the internet ( http://mashable.com/2017/12/20/litecoin-charlie-lee-cryptocurrency/#4wvTq4wUvqqw ) the Litecoin creator sold all his assets of his own currency.

I think this might be a bad sign for the long term price development, what do you think?

Not necessarily, I personally think Charlie made the right decision. I'd make use of the price dips to buy more but I personally don't hold LTC nor will I ever probably. I do use it occasionally for payments.

This is not a news. I read it before.
Sounds like the price climbs up.
I do not own LTC now.

Why will you think it will die for that news? It wont. Litecoin is a better project than dying for a single incident.

i don't think litecoin will die because it have a strong cummunity especially in china.

but if a big crash is comming like in 2014, litecoin will be in the worst case a pump and dump coin.

Not soon. I feel they'll stay fine upto around 2050 and will die due to no one using it as modern coins with better technology and security replaces them.
We know it, Litecoin, Bitcoin as well as all that depends on mining will die.

Why do you keep openning the same threads about litecoin. One person, no matter who, can sell his all litecoin he has. This doesn't change anything about litecoin. Don't be dependent to persons in the coin world.

Litecoin is decentralized cryptocurrency. The development in litecoin is still on going and I think the lead developer Lee sold his stake because of controversies! I do not think litecoin will die! As long as cryptocurrency is been adopted by new user each day, the litecoin user will keep growing.

No, I dont think so. The creator sold out all Litecoin for reducing the influence of litecoin's price. You know, people sometimes might misunderstand him for manipulating the price of litecoin by his words. When he has no litecoin, he also has no suspicion.

people are reading too much into this.  he didn't sell his LTC because of "controversy" - he wrote a detailed explanation why he sold his positions and it doesn't seem like anything has changed in terms of his involvement with litecoin.  he still tweets about it constantly, talks about it on youtube and mainstream interviews, and his magical crypto friends podcast.  he just got sick of questions about price all the time and wanted to focus on the tech

Well, Satoshi disappeared from the Bitcoin space. Did Bitcoin die?

Charlie Lee's gradual stepping away from Litecoin is to make it more decentralized. He realizes that he has too much influence over Litecoin and he wants to change that. IMO, I think Charlie is doing a good thing for the LTC community. He'll still be around but not as a dominating figure.

He just made sure that there will be no accusations of price manipulation in the future.

The way he did it was also very good imo.

it s a good coin, no matter its creator talks empty words, he just scares of shoutings at him after pump dumps. but even its price will continue increasing. after bitcoin fees increased i started to transfer by litecoin. calm down!

No it's already have good price like btc but still you say it can gone because of the price now so for me don't base prediction in the price but in the development see ltc this year it's get so high more than all coins here and also good developer with good community so i say it can't happen,We can line up ltc in ripple and ethereum now because we see already the potentials of this three coins this year with good move in different way in developing.

Not at all. Litecoin made a lot of gains in the last quarter of 2017. I think the fact that the founder has sold his shares in it doesn't make the project will come to an end. Litecoins is the best altocoins besides Ethereum and ripple.

Litecoin is a very good altcoin, but there are fake news that lower the price. Someone wrote that Charlie Lee, the former director of engineering at Coinbase, is selling almost all of his holdings in Litecoin (LTC), the cryptocurrency that he founded in 2011.

He was realizing about the fact that the litecoin will not have any future, there is a lot of bitcoin fork coins with better technology than litecoin itself, just like bitcoin god that used a pos system and bitcoin users be able to stake their bitcoin god to the network to gain passive income.

And this is a reason to think that litecoin is going to die? Of course not.

the Litecoin creator sold all his assets of his own currency.
I think this might be a bad sign for the long term price development, what do you think?

If you develop a coin, and it went up by more than 1000 times since you created it, wouldn't you feel tempted to sell it to have your own profit?

I think that he really deserve that money, do not be greedy.

He created that altcoin and a lot of people made incredible profit from that one.

This is not actually old as we have seen the tweet is on Dec. 20,2017 which is a few weeks old which means we don't even know if he mean that tweet on selling out his LTC or just making some bluffs or what but regarding on its recent or current price as of writing I don't see any major movements signifies on the possible actions that he would made of. I don't think that Litecoin will die if we do try to track after all these years. Even how many coins does Charlie lee have.

Yes, he sold his litecoin, and yet the market did not react that much, so it is safe to say this news did not had a short term effect on litecoin holders, we do not know the long term effects, but it is safe to say that if there was going to be a run against litecoin the perfect moment was when he sold and in my opinion nothing significant happened so litecoin is going to be fine.

Vitalik Buterin did the same with his ethereum and look at the ethereum price now, not bad isn't it? Besides no one said Charlie didn't buy litecoin again right after the sell or once price went a bit down, right? So there is no reason to worry about

Litecoin has a lot of miners. The thread is not brought with proof. It just a claim from unknown person. bETTER not to listen to the statement. if he is a  well known developer, I may listen to his statement.

In my opinion Litecoin is just like Bitcoin Cash, it is just an other version of Bitcoin with minor changes which BTC could also do in near future (LN).

That news is not new, it has many days of that event. But it is well known that such actions tend to occur with some frequency. There have been people committed to many cryptos who sell their coins overnight announcing their disappointment, and in fact that same thing has happened to the bitcoin several times with no relevant consequences. In my case I really believe that the future of Litecoin is brighter than ever before the ineffectiveness of bitcoin to carry out micro transactions that other altcoin do can, such as ethereum, litecoin and ripple.

“Litecoin gave 5,200% return in 2017 in comparison to 1,400% by bitcoin.”
Finely said by an article.
According to me, I see a good future of litecoin in the nearest and the farthest future. Though there have been news of it’s big sell out, one has to pay 250$ to buy a litecoin(on poloniex). Plus, in the last 24 hours it has made a profit of 12%. I personally give Litecoin a green flag and may this 2018 yield a lot of money from and for Litecoin.

This is old and as you can see, Litecoin is not only get but got another 10% today.

IMO LTC will only grow because more and more business are adopting it due low fees.

Litecoin is with Dogecoin the longest dying currency, we we ever saw and even multiplied. But for serious. Why should it die? Its algo is fine and its tradable on a huge number of exchangers and services.

Yeah it's a bad news and usually when the coin abandon by the developer it will be bad for the coin, but up until now the market of litecoin still in good condition, the developer is not the only factor that make the coin become successful, I still see litecoin as a great coin, so I don't think litecoin will die soon
