Title: [WTB] Assembled mining rig under 10 BTC
Post by: alnoor1231 on August 04, 2013, 05:36:21 PM
Hi! I`m located in the NY area and am looking for a nice little startup rig for under 10BTC. I would preferably deal with an offer to exchange goods in person, but offers that require shipping are also welcome.

Sorry, in your own words you may be trusted, but that's not a very good price with the prices going down, net. difficulty going up daily & all the ASICs coming online. This poor complete newbie would be paying 9 BTC for 10 BEs @ 0.9 BTC each (used no less).

If you're going the USB BE route, you should be able to score a brand new one on ebay or BTC Guild for $60-70 or 0.6BTC. Still a bad deal that may never make ROI (unless BTC really takes off). TBH, in your price range your better off saving up a little more. You'd be better off angling for an Oct. delivery of a 25GH/s Bitfury unit for $1300 (12.1 BTC) which easily blows away spending ~$1100 for 3.3GH/s now. [Also, you'll be able to upgrade the Bitfury over time by installing $500 25GH/s modules which max out at 400GH/s. This will help you to deal with the inevitable network difficulty rise].

Word to the wise: those USB BEs prices are going to continue to drop like a rock from the 2 BTC initial price they were originally introduced at.

Basically: Please don't take advantage of the noobs here...that's what ebay is for!

You could also wait a few days.

ASICMiner will come out with a mini-blade shortly (5GHs),
That should already been out but they have some delays at the moment.

I am sure they will cost well below 10BTC, maybe that is an option.

Else there is only the usb sticks, or preorder and wait months, or
make someone rich who bought an avalon for 1200 USD and sells them
now for 10K+ :D

You can buy them now if you buy directly from China:

But at $1.5K (w/ S&H) for 5GH/s? I would've gone for that about a month ago out of desperation but not now. I have a feeling that AM is going to have to discount that quite a bit in the near future with everything getting ready to ship soon. Their Gen2 chips are supposed to arrive shortly, however.

Actually, what am I doing? I'm an AM shareholder, so please feel free to buy all the AM blades & USB dongles you want. :)
