Title: Installing Windows
Post by: BTC22 on January 02, 2018, 11:14:19 PM
Can you use a flash drive to install it on rigs or is a disc copy better? Also, what wifi adapter do I need?

Just use the Microsoft media creation tool to create a bootable flash drive with the latest build. The media creation tool automatically creats a bootable flash drive with the latest Windows 10 build and updates. It also installs much faster compared to a disc.

Can't help you there, though I imagine almost any one would work. You shouln't mine on WiFi. It increses your latency and dropped packets. It's always better to run a Cat 6 patch cable or use a powerline network adapter.

Burn a disc.  Using USB is iffy at best for Windows 10. It's not compatible with all motherboards, it also depends on what USB port you use and BIOS settings.  Using a disc will take longer but holy shit if you run into any of the bugs I have dealt with you will regret not using a disc.  Also, do not mine over Wi-Fi.  A wired connection is best.

you can make bootable using flash disk, you can find tutorial in google with keyword install windows 10 using flash disk.
if you didn't have wifi adapter or internet connection you can download ISO file and make bootable on flash disk

Nothing wrong with using a flash drive to install Windows.  Just make sure you are using a USB 2.0 port, as not all USB 3.0 chipset drivers are built into the mini-windows that runs the Windows installer.

Good tip here.

I used an exe called "ruffus" to make a bootable flash drive.  It was a piece of cake.

What about a wifi adapter?
Do not use WiFi for mining.
It's unsecured and unstable.

You can use Rufus (https://rufus.akeo.ie/) to make a bootable flash drive containing Windows Installer.
Youtube or Google for the procedures, it's easy as riding a bike.
But make sure that your copy of Windows is authentic, there are a lot of fakes with Malware Activators in the Market, especially online stores.
