LiteCoin Update We hate to apologize yet again for the delay in implementing Litecoin, but the fact of the matter is that it depends on a variety of factors, including completing all of the above before we launch. We're looking forward to the rollout, but at this point are reluctant to speculate on when. We are sorry to keep Litecoin enthusiasts hanging.

Seems like they are the only people who are reluctant to speculate on 'when'.

I speculate that it will be some time in 2014.

They're also supporting NMC if they support LTC.

Btw why LTC over BTC? BTC is afaik far superior due it being way better distributed, developed etc.

It's not LTC over BTC. It's LTC alongside BTC.

Why? How is LTC needed?

For me its great info:

1. most important - they will add LTC
2. there is more time to get cheap LTC

nope wont happen, BTC is always higher on GOX, put LTC on there and you could back channel the money over and over. Sometimes its 7% diff, take what 3 or 4% on trade  costs and you could loop all day. Youll notice shipping USD out of gox is too expensive. they will have to drop BTC inline with other exchange to make it work ?

Mtgox to become the 2nd version of BFL, I've heard that Josh Innaba is coaching them....... so far, they are doing a great job.

BTW I am a verified member of MTgox, but I never used my account for a single trade, I always use Bitstamp (really great and professional guys, never had a problem with them, I used them many times, When I withdraw money sometime I get it the same day (we use the same bank), for LTC I use BTC-e.

What LTC needs is more services where people can spend their coins for goods, more companions to introduce it to people, we already have a great Dev team and we are already a great community. so middle finger to mtgox

Yes, and therefore Gox has to implement it.

+1

Exactly. BFL was the darling for so long and I made my own poor decisions based on waiting for their ASICS. When they finally got their act together, it almost didn't even matter anymore as Avalon beat them to the punch and have now scooped up a reported 200 million dollars in investment. I can't help but feel that by the time LTC hits gox, it might be too late to seriously make a difference. If this were 6 months ago and bitstamp wasn't already clearly the better exchange (and anti-LTC) then we would still have hope, but adding LTC 6 months from now (they don't give any deadline anymore) might mean practically nothing.

Many people seem to forget something really important when LTC is added to MtGox. Besides the fresh money that will be invested in LTC by many customers of MtGox.

Many e-commerce webshop systems have a BTC plug-in of MtGox that allows them to accept BTC on their webshops.
Once MtGox starts with exchange of LTC I am sure they will update this plug-in so that webshops can also accept LTC next to BTC.
That means that all merchants can as easily accept LTC as BTC.
The more shops that start accepting LTC, the higher the value of LTC will be as demand for the coin will rise.

In fact, I would go as far as saying that once many merchants and customers realize that LTC is basically the same as BTC but confirmations are much faster, LTC might even pass value of BTC some day. The more the value goes up, the more people will support LTC.

The amount of promises in this industry is to damn high!

LTC will eventually scramble onto Gox, and when it does, yes the price of each LTC will rise.  But as other readers have pointed out, it is the the widespread adoption and acceptance of LTC from businesses will see its value really rise.

But as others have also pointed out, this delay in getting onto Gox only gives us all more time to buy them whilst they are relatively low...

Well the point that we are forgetting is that if MTGox continue this way they will have 0 customers, and then implementing LTC wont change anything, neither for LTC nor for them.

I am aware of all the difficulties around this business in general, and also the amount of regulation..... and I understand that they are doing their best to solve and make things better, but do not forget that end users are never happy and easy to piss-off, they shouldn't promise or state anything if they are not sure that they will deliver results.

a small question, will you order today from BF any prototype if they said they will deliver next week? I do not want to see MTgox end up in the same box as BFL.
