Title: WTB ~3x Bitcoin with PayPal funds (gift ofc). escrow: John K
Post by: ABitBack on August 05, 2013, 07:03:33 AM
Looking to buy 3BTC via PayPal funds. The escrow will be John K and it will work like this.
I gift John the funds then he will gift you. If you want to sell more or less than 3 Btc that can be arranged.

If John K actually agrees with this transaction and you pay the fees, you've got a seller here :)

LOL.  There are so many problems with this transaction...  John will never agree to this.

That's why  I said "if he agrees" ;-)

He has indeed agreed. I'll PM him and yes I'm ok with paying the fees.

If John K has agreed, then we can go through with this, and I'm awaiting PM from John K with his escrow address.

Found a way to spend my coins instead of selling them, so no go anymore for me, good luck in finding another buyer!
Maybe ask John K to confirm in this thread he's agreed to escrow this deal, will make things a lot easier for you to find someone :)

Feeling as this should be said:
1 minute after my last reply (yeah, nice timing John K :p), I received the next info:
John K would not be intermediary to the paypal transaction, he would just hold the coins and ABitBack would be sending the paypal funds directly himself, so it's completely not as described in the first post.

PS: I will not hold any currencies apart from BTC here as I would be dumped with the chargeback risk in this case.

I was under the assumption you couldn't do a chargeback when sending as a 'gift' as its not protected. I might take a look at buying linden dollars and doing it that way.

Your assumption is incorrect.

Hmm I guess the only way would be to create a PayPal account, send funds to it then simy trade the account via escrow. The new holder can then send the funds to themselves and change the password/email.

No, they'll recover the money by clawbacks.

There is simply no secure safe irreversible way to accept payment via PayPal for something irreversible like bitcoin.

You either accept the risk of fraud and set your exchange price accordingly, or you do like all the other knowledgeable people around here and avoid PayPal entirely.

If you give up on the PayPal idea, I'm willing to sell you the bitcoins you desire.

I require MtGox_Last + 5%.

Acceptable forms of payment are:
  • Western Union
  • MoneyGram
  • Mailed U.S. cash
  • Mailed U.S. postal money order
  • Face-to-face cash exchange if you are anywhere near Chicago

You would have to pay any fees associated with whatever form of payment you choose.  Either you send first, or we use trusted escrow.
