Title: Bitcoin will always have skeletons in the cupboard, but why blame Bitcoin?
Post by: Kprawn on January 03, 2018, 05:43:51 PM
I see they added the TV Mini-Series, Cybercrimes with Ben Hammersley on Netflix and the first episode is dedicated to the

DarkWeb and Silkroad. Bitcoin is mentioned throughout the episode and scripted as this criminal currency. Watching this, I

figured that Bitcoin will forever carry this label as the Currency for criminals. In one scene the pub owner joked that Bitcoin

should be left alone and that Dollars should be used for crime. Will we ever shrug the criminal history linked to Silkroad and

replace it with all the good that are done with this technology?

Bitcoin is so much more than, Silkroad / MtGox and all the bad things that are done with the technology.  >:(

bad pr is still pr ). This is just a technology, people can use it in different ways, same like nuclear energy.

Nuclear energy also killed a lot of people, but we still use it.

Cash was used for criminal activities for many centuries, first coins, then paper money. It's just a tool, and bitcoin is a tool also.

I wouldn't worry about it that much, since this is practically the viewpoint of the average person as well. Doesn't really matter what they think as long as the people who really care about bitcoin stop caring about it. The mass media can say whatever it wants.

That's what I'm always saying.

Here OP, I removed the spaces for you. Or maybe I should say I did it for all of us.
As for the criminals the dollar is the most popular currency among criminals. In Africa it's all dollar. Got USD? You can buy anything, drugs, guns, hitmen, women, slaves...
Now, try doing the same with BTC. Maybe after a few days of searching you'll find someone to accept it.

The Mass media can kill Bitcoin, if they really target it or get told to do it. We should actively debunk the Bad PR with some

Good PR and focus on the positive things that are done with Bitcoin. We should not allow the Mass media to destroy Bitcoin

with Half truths. The average person should hear both sides of the story.  ;)
