Title: Bitcoin functionality issues
Post by: orippo on January 04, 2018, 11:07:13 AM
As far as I know Bitcoin right now is not suitable for micro transactions because:

1. Its takes time to confirm.
2. Transactions fees are high.
3. Constant market price fluctuation respect to FIAT currency.

I would like to know what you think about it. Also if is there a reliable in sight technical solution for each point mentioned.

I am concern that if these issues are not addressed soon this criptocurrency will became obsolete agains others.

Thanks!

Well from a non-technical standpoint, I definitely agree that #s 1 and 2 have really become big drawbacks for Bitcoin. I also hope that these issues will be addressed or people will find another coin for daily use.

it has been addressed for about 3 years now. maybe you weren't around to hear them!
and the solution that could gain the support of the majority is SegWit and Lightning Network. with LN you can have instant transactions with super cheap fees now.
the only thing left is for LN to be adopted more.

you know that most altcoins are forked from bitcoin one way or another, right?
and those that aren't have similar issues that you mentioned here!

How is LN implemented? As a hard fork?

And from who depends the adoption?

Thank you very much for your time and help.

LN is still vaporware. It has to be implemented before it can be adopted.

It can't be adopted. Imagine all the hordes of bitcoin users openning and closing LN channels on chain, fees will go through the roof. There is no way tens of millions of bitcoin users can open a LN channel in 2018.

Since Segwit has failed to provide the desired results, lightning network is to be activated. I think that it is still in its beta stage. Steps are been taken to activate it. Once it gets activated, all these transaction issues would get solved.

Yes, it's the biggest problem that bothers bitcoin enthusiasts. But I don't think it will stop bitcoin's final dominance in the market, and bitcoin is now with an important investment function. It's not just technology. Let's look forward to the introduction of LN.

Vaporware is strong for something in testing.  As you say though it needs adopting, something that apparently hasn't occured for Segwit.  I'm growing concerned LN is not going to address real usage problems.

From a technical point of view, I know that they are already creating solutions on how to overcome no.s 1 and 2. However, the last factor is unavoidable because majority of the people relies on FIAT currency.
