Title: Epic Rap Battles: BitFunder vs. BTC-TC
Post by: usagi on August 08, 2013, 01:21:29 PM
Please post IPO to BTCT. It just works... weexchange/bitfunder has been a consistent fail for me, i try every month or so, and i can't even get coins to my wallet. Cheers, keep up the good work. I've spoken with Hashfast and they are the real deal.

So say i grab a bunch at .0014 today... What date will there be any changes to valuation?

No.

BTCT is full of fail. Just look at the Labcoin IPO fiasco where people couldn't deposit coins in time to buy. Bitfunder all the way.

I'm trying to diffuse tension with a humorous title to this thread. I'd like to mention that as the issuer of BMF I have company accounts on all the major exchanges, and other than a few hiccups (which turned out to be my fault in the end) I've had zero trouble using any of them.

BitFunder and BTC-TC are each excellent in their own way, I appreciate the statistics BTC-TC offers me, and I appreciate the speed at which BitFunder allows me to move money.

I hear some people are having trouble using either platform. May I suggest trying a new channel for support. PM isn't working, go to IRC. Try e-mail. It's true there are problems, but obviously thousands of other people are not having a problem which suggests, if you are having continuous problems it might be something you are doing wrong and not realizing it. For example when I logged into weexchange for the first time I forgot I had capitalized my username and I began to panic when I realized it was difficult to contact support. When the problem was discovered I felt embarrassed. The truth is the problem only took 3 days to fix by going through support. I think 3 or 4 days is probably acceptable. Contact support and be patient.

There are great issues on both platforms. And then there's Havelock, which I suspect has seen a lot of new users recently, with XBOND.. :)

+1 - thanks for starting a sanity based thread. I agree, I've used the 3 major exchanges and even branched out to smaller ones like picostocks and BTER. I've never had problems bad enough that I didn't want to come back again to do business.

I like the look and feel of the Havelock website. They are doing a great job and are a nice beacon for Bitcoin in Canada as well.

How does trading volume compare between our two main contenders?

only tried bitfunder so far as both issuer and customer.
like the double-sided approach to security via wexchange.

I find the interface, features and security of BTC-TC superior to BitFunder and Havelock. The email notifications are excellent (@canth Havelock has them also).

I guess this is mostly a matter of opinion, I prefer BitFunder.

Bitfunder has ridiculously high fees, also the site is not very responsive. (Why does it have to reload the market every time I switch back from a stock AND forget my sort setting?)

So even with the recent problems of BTCT, I think its far superior, but some stocks aren't available there.

Of course that is extremely subjective. I like these BTC-TC features:

-ability to change order amount/price after placing it (without cancelling the order).
-2FA for each trade
-"My Value Analysis" tab shows average price I spend for each of my assets incl. fees
-market stats shows average price for 24h/7d/30d
-realtime panel

For my convenience I would much prefer if there were only one exchange, so it would be much easier to keep track of everything.

Other than that, my current preference is BTC-TC. The looks may not be the most superslick, but I don't really care. 2FA, editing existing orders, quick response from the admin to issues, etc... are all strong benefits.

But mainly I use it because DMS.SELLING trades there and that asset so far has been like taking candy from babies a decent investment.

BTCT is far superior than anything else.

Thanks - you're right, I had forgotten about Havelock notifications. OK BitFunder - any chance that you'll enable this feature?

I agree that BTC-TC is superior in the points mentioned above. The big issue is performance. Between the security feature being unavailable for lock and the site being taken down by load, there are times when BTC-TC becomes untradeable. BitFunder is superior in a fast moving market in this regard. I imagine that Burnside is well aware of this and will have it addressed.

Spreading your bitcoins to more than 1 exchange makes a lot of sense given the risk of legal actions and/or having to shut off Americans from using the sites.

I use all three. And own securities on all three. It's not good to put all your eggs in one basket in case one of them gets shut down. I do like all the statistics BTCT offers.

But I lost out on 150 BTC during the Labcoin IPO due to a glitch in their software which makes me wary of trusting them. It's very scary when you deposit 250 BTC and it just disappears even after many confirmations. It did show up eventually but it was too late by then. This happened to several other people though.

I haven't had this kind of problem with Bitfunder. Bitfunder seems more straightforward and makes it easier to quickly check the value of all my assets. I like the integration with weexchange for safety too.

Havelock seems great so far too. Yes, I've bought a ton of XBOND...

We currently provide email notifications when a trade is place on your account, under email settings. (Trades on my account is the 2nd option from the bottom).  We're currently looking at SMS as well.
