Title: Electrum new vulnerability, are all versions affected?
Post by: johncolbir on January 08, 2018, 02:59:31 AM
I've read somewhere that not all versions of Electrum are affected, I've read that all versions before 2.6 are not affected, can anyone confirm this to be true?

According to theymos, all versions from 2.6 to 3.0.3 are affected by the vulnerability.

I've updated to 3.0.4 but I can't see my history or balance at all.

I used old seed on the new wallet setup.

I can't seem to find a solution anywhere online.

Are your addresses the same? Or have they changed?

Go to "View" -> "Show Addresses" and check them out.

Does it affect electrum for android mobile version? Or just windows? I just upgraded to 3.0.5 anyway.  There you have it folks. This is why you use Bitcoin Core and not shitty third party crap. Lesson learnt.

Versions < 2.6 can't sync with the network so they are unusable.

@maxxdxx: It affects android versions too. 3rd party? There is no 1st party or third party in bitcoin!

Yeah... because Bitcoin Core has NEVER had any security issues (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Common_Vulnerabilities_and_Exposures)... right? ::)
