Title: altcoin wallets
Post by: ben alman on January 08, 2018, 08:25:06 PM
i am interested in investing in all kinds of altcoins.
i understand that it is safer to keep the coins stored in a wallet however it is very hard to find a wallet that keeps many types of coins.

is there a good altcoin wallet that knows to store all types of coins?
should i have multiple wallets for the serious types of coins?

i would like to get some help from your experiance.

i am new to all of this and want to make my first steps safely.

thanks

ben

This is also one issue I have to tackle because I realize I don't get to see some aitcoin I'm suppose to get & some of these altcoins would be valued in the future. You have raised a nice question.

Ledger can store almost everything, some wallet need his own QT wallet. but if your token is ethereum based, myetherwallet can handle it.

I think it is a lost cause really. For ERC tokens is fine, but everyday there are 50 new variants of bitcoin, ethereum and two new (useless) chains. It is impossible to support them all even for the most dedicated team.

I think the wallet which you are looking for is myetherwallet. You can store all your coins which are erc20 based. Also I think it is suitable for the first steps.

I would recommend Ledger, it supports many altcoins and it is the most safest way to keep your altcoins.

the Coinomi wallet supports around 80 cryptocurrency.  But, on the other hand, the minus of the Coinomi wallet is the lack of versions for the personal computer and iOS, it is possible to install only on Android.

With how many forks of bitcoin there I'm surprised someone hasn't built a wallet that automatically pulls all the relevant constants from Github and adds support for coins on the fly. Would be quite the revolutionary technology.  Anyone wanna do that for me?  :P

You can always just share private keys between wallets, no? And if you're on a computer you can just use core wallets. Most altcoins hardly have a chain > 1 GB.

I try to diversify the risks. For this, I hold a part of the coins in myetherwallet-on this purse you can hold a lot of coins. A part of the coins I keep on the official purses of the altcoins. And part (small) on the stock exchange.

according to my experience, all types of coins have differences and of course it can affect the wallet used.
ledger and trezor might help you safely store altcoins, and if ethereum-based atcoin you can simply use myetherwallet.
this is link for making myetherwallet wallet and download trezzor and ledger.
https://www.myetherwallet.com

goodluck!!

My favorite wallet is Coinomi. The Coinomi wallet supports 86 crypto-currencies, and in this aspect it is the undisputed leader. Coinomi is a very convenient and secure web wallet. To get yourself a Coinomi wallet, you need to go to the official coinomi.com site and download it to your smartphone. Minus the Coinomi wallet is the lack of versions for the personal computer and iOS, there is an option to install only on Android. Security, good service, impeccable reputation and the availability of an affiliate program - all this can be said about Coinomi.

Well exchanges are getting safer as well but if you want to lower the risk you can store your coins in a wallet. Best ethereum based wallet is probably myetherwallet. It is a very popular wallet and i never had any problems there. Just keep your private key safe and you will be fine.

Never heard of it. What's good about it? I'm using Bitcoin Core, everything is OK, it's quite stable, but the commission is just killing me, to make a transaction, the commission for BTC is $15!

Myetherwallet should be your first wallet if you ask me because it’s safe and simple for new users. There are also many other wallets but as a new comer go with myetherwallet . It also can keep so many various alt coins.

There are some wallets that store many altcoins, but you'll have fees. And you understand that they can't maintain and develop all altcoin wallet in the same time so , it's better to put your coins in each official wallet for each altcoin.
Your ethereum tokens in myetherwallet, with your eth coins.
Your NEO and your GAS in your NEO wallet... etc
With that even if you are hacked on a wallet, you also don't loose everything

That's what interesting about this FreeWallet. There's no commision for BTC inside the platform. That's why I got interested

If we are talking about altcoyins, then a good version of MEW. It can store all altkoins etherium. The main thing is not to flush anywhere your private key. If you want to keep altcoyins in longevity, then store them on the native purses of the altcoyins.

All coins you want to hodl for some time you should put on a Nano Ledger. That will keep the coins offline and away from your computer. Extremely saft option for storing your coins. If you have some long time bags of coins you should definitely get yourself a Nano Ledger or a similar wallet.

The best option is hardware wallets, such as Ledger. You are insured from entering a private key on fishing sites. Spyware never grabs your key. It supports many coins and tokens. With him you will sleep peacefully. This is the best choice.

if you want to store different kind of coins in your wallet it is possible but not all the coins. Because many altcoins are available in the market. Some of the coins only accepted in one wallet. Others should be store different wallet. I prefer paper wallet is more convenient to store your coins. Coinbase and myetherwallet these two wallets are best in the current market.

I use Coinomi and MyEtherWallet to save many altcoin. Actually, I use coinomi on mobile phone because it's very easy to use and can save many altcoin. So, you can use just one Wallet for save your coin. In addition, coinomi can be used by offline. Secondly, I use MyEtherWallet to save altcoin. So far MEW is very safe to use, I use private keys to access MEW. Important to note, for our wallet is safe we need to be careful in storing Private Keys.

No existing wallet allows all altcoins to be stored, exchange however may accomdate these altcoins but exchanges isnt a wallet, and its too risky to store big amounts in exchanges.

Blockchain.info for bitcoin
MyEtherWallet for ETH and ERC20
Jaxx or Exodus for multi-coins wallet.

The erc20 tokens can be used to try the Imtoken wallet, which is a handy wallet, and other altcoins are used for matching wallets.

I would advise to use the Enjin digital smart wallet if you don't have a hardware wallet.
It's a highly secure wallet for mobile (android for now) compatible with BTC, LTC, ETH and all ERC20 tokens.

It has been made by the Team from Enjin coin. It's really easy to use and the interface is amazing!

On the play store :

My opinion is to keep each coin in its own wallet. I prefer to use these proposed by the developers of the cryptos.
I know this is not convenient but for me, safety comes first.
MyEtherWallet is fine for ERC20 based coins and if you are a holder use a cold wallet. I don't trust the ones offered for many coins unless it is a hardware wallet like ledger or trezor.
So for more safety it would be better to use a hardware wallet.
