Title: Why are you mining what you are mining?
Post by: gtx1060 on January 09, 2018, 02:50:42 AM
What are you guys mining, an why?
I'm particularly interested in why people are mining Zcash, and how I can go about finding out what coin I should be mining.
For now I'm mining Galactrum ORE, but that's because it's among one of the most profitable coins to mine according to crypto-coinz.
Any input?

I'm mining ETN/XMR/SUMO depending on the profitability. Basically, anything CryptoNote.
I've never tested crypto-coinz calculator.
Out of interest, how accurate do you find it? I always assumed it was wildly overestimating profits...

XVG, DNR have been pretty good recently in terms of profitability.  Looking into adding neoscrypt in the near future.

A few website show us coin profitability rank, and also many miners use it as the reference. When many of a miner use it as the reference, it means will increase network hashrate and also the diff will be increased soon. How to calculate coin profitability by our-self? This is a few variable that we need to know.
- Network Hasrate
- difficulties
- Block Time
- Coin price
- etc...
All of the variables are linked. Mining pool was also making a little bit different. I remember when I using BTC-guild, even when Ghash.io solved many blocks every day and BTC-guild only solved 5-10 block a day, my earning still more significant in BTC-guild. Now am on NeoScrypt based coin, so far more profitable than other algo.

Crypto Coinz calculator suspiciously ramped my CPU up to 100%...  CPU usage dropped immediately after I saw Chrome was using 100% and closed that tab.
 Caution there I would say.

For AMD; it is simple, mine ETH
For Nvidia; even ETH is a bit more profitable, I prefer Zcash and do not sell, some day Zcash can become 2000-3000 USD coin because supply is very low.

whattomine is very accurate and is usually conservative with estimates - I'm finding I make more than what is quoted

I started mining XMR simply because I needed some and had CPU power to spare, but now with a bit more hardware at my disposal I am thinking about spöiting my hash power. Had good experiences with jumping on ICO mining.

I'm mining uranium. It's hard work, but what can I do when I live in Russia and was sentenced to this for a lifetime? I'm starting to develop this green glow, which is kind of cool. So I guess the old saying "Every cloud has a silver lining" is true after all.

I am mining litecoin because litecoin is a coin that really can benefit how we later set up our mining tools and mining litecoin to get it is still quite easy than bitcoin which to get one coin is very difficult
