This is a bit disconcerting and I decided to send them an email and ask for official answer. My email below: Quote Hi there, This email will be posted on bitcointalk.org. As you are now in a fight for the bitcoin exchange market share, those of us who love our privacy would like to know why you block tormail in your registration? Cheers I personally think it is a bit strange as tormail if used properly, just like bitcoin, provides a good layer on anonymity. Waiting response. Maybe because they have to comply with Know Your Costumer policies... I don't think they can have anonymous users... Privacy and anonymity are different things, and they have to comply with privacy policies also, Facebook got into a lot of trouble in EU because of this, EU directives on data protection are quite rigorous and Bitstamp is an European company.
